I know we have a tool box thread but more members have picked up mini tool boxes and using them for various duties.
So why not start a thread and show what everyone is using their mini boxes for.
Doesn't matter brand or color, let's see them.

My black Kobalt box that I use for office type stuff. Even added some small decals to the lid.

I saw this on a deal site -

MyLowes members only (free to join). Ends 12/5. Lowe's has the Kobalt Mini 2-Drawer Steel Tool Box (Gray, Red, or Green) for $12.98 - 35% off in cart = $8.44 with free shipping. Measures 10.83" W x 5.91" H x 5.91" D.

I am seeing $12.98 with free shipping, not sure how to get it down to $8.44 but $13 with free shipping is pretty good.

I'm seeing the same as you, @WildBill.

I have a weakness for them. I got the black bottom but at the time the top in black was out of stock. It was out for a long time so I took a chance and ordered the top from the south American river branded P.I.T. The SO and P.I.T. top boxes are identical. The SO is around 125 now and the PIT is about 50 I think. I use the stack on my hobby bench. The two top chests are in a display cabinet with tiny tools and SO accessories.microtb.JPGmicrotop.jpeg

You can get a bottom box to get more storage in the same foot print. @four.cycle was kind enough to share one of his top boxes with me, since my Lowe’s didn’t carry them and wouldn’t ship. They do both this year.

I've seen the little tool boxes, and they are much smaller than I imagined. I've considered getting one, but not sure for what. I have not seen those bottom boxes, I like the idea so much more as a top and bottom box set.

I started with one and a year later bought the bottom, because I couldn’t help myself:). I don’t know if either units can be purchased on any rational basis. I guess I can store pocket knives I have no reason to buy in them. As a side note the top boxes are now $13 at Lowe’s and the bottom boxes are sold out.

I saw the top boxes at Lowes a couple weeks ago. The closest Lowes is about 75 miles, so I don't go there often. The tool boxes look almost identical to the ones HF has started advertising, but they haven't had them at my local store yet. HF doesn't seem to offer the bottom stacks either.

I was thinking I could probably make good use of them for my modeling tools. I have one of those fake wood Gerstner chests which is nice, but is too big to keep on the bench. The small two drawer is a nice foot print for bench top use but with only 2 drawers the traded bench top space is of marginal gain, but the stack would give me 5 drawers which would be an efficient use of space.

More of a because they exist, than a real need, but I do like the stackable feature.

Update: This morning, the BF deal appears to be open to everyone (not just members). Updated price is $12.98.

I'm not a member (or pro, or CC holder, etc.), so I don't know if there's a secret special price lower than that.

There appear to be no lower boxes available, at any price, unfortunately.

I must say, the US General mini toolbox is vastly better than the Kobalt one. (I both both). The US General was cheaper, has liners in it, drawer slides are way better, and it was boxed up really nice.

Yeah, I just watched a video comparing them. The US General does seem to be better.

I'm thinking maybe I can just pop the top off of one or two and stack them to get the top and bottom effect.

If my local HF would ever get any in.

I snagged one this morning as a Christmas gift for my daughter. Can’t open it yet but I’m impressed with how heavy it is.

I saw sams club had some mini boxes last time I was in there. I just can't think of a reason to buy one yet.

I grabbed two of the Kobalt ones at Lowe's today, one black and one blue. I'll load them up and post pics.

HF shows them out of stock, and I didn't want to make the trek just for that (closest one is 35 minutes each way, all highway).

I'd like to get a red one, to keep some items related to my (Honda) snowblower.
