I don't get the I hate 12pt. socket thing... No one seems to hate using the 12pt. box end on a wrench...

I definitely care. I NEVER use 12-point sockets or wrenches unless I'm dealing with a square nut/bolt. I've rounded WAY too many with 12-points.

Well, I did say "or wrenches" and gave a reason...

I also prefer not to use the open end of wrenches, those also round hexagonal fasteners easily.

Does anyone make a DOE that's 6-point on one end and 12-point on the other? That might be useful.

To be fair, I own older USA Craftsman and some newer Kobalt tools. I've always been skeptical of the marketing claims of all the newer style sockets and wrenches that promise not to round fasteners. Especially when there are so many different designs, each claiming to be the best.

Add power stack and u have the lightest most powerful in your hand, I keep being impressed by mine. I use it a lot with up to a 24mm flex socket all day. It does worry me how long it can last kicking so much *** but I’m just going to hope at least a year
IIRC DeWalt advertises 300 foot pounds of torque.
Would you say that is accurate in practical use?

New Capri 90T ratchet set (1/4, 3/8, 1/2 drives)

The handles might be the best comfort grip I've ever held. There is very little to no movement with the anvil/head and the 90T single pawl design feels really nice and smooth.

For sure will get picked up before my Icon and Tekton ratchets.

I don't get the I hate 12pt. socket thing. I've used a lot of 12pt. sockets with good results. I think all my early Craftsman metric sockets I used on my first VW Bug were 12pt.I'm not sure at the time they even had 6pt. metric sockets. No one seems to hate using the 12pt. box end on a wrench. With most sockets having an "off corner" type design the 12pt. would be ever better than some of the early 6pt. sockets.
I also prefer 6pt box wrenches. Put it this way... If I was deciding between two sets... and one had 6pt .. that would be a no brainer purchase.

Harbor Freight and Rural King for me this time.

The clamping straightedge was on sale at HF. The trays and blaster were cheap enough at RK.

I wish the color was lighter but the price was right.

This volume lever is a new one on me. Anyone like it?

Like to see if it holds up until the can is empty.

I bought one of those O-Ring assortments 40 years ago... turns out... I only use 2 or 3 sizes... had to buy bulk packs of those sizes... then I realized ... that KIT is cheaper than 1 bag of 1 size. I now own 3 sets... I put 3 in One oil on a paper towel and placed it inside the case... keeps everything moist.

I make it a point to get a new floor jack every 50 years. My old Sears 2-Ton from about 1972 won't hold weight anymore and my truck would need a higher lift than that old one had. I really don't need a floor jack anymore as I don't do any auto work these days but my wife (she's a keeper!) said "You don't need it until you need it and then what if you don't have it?"

$139 on sale.

Blue kit is the metric version, I've had the standard version for 20+ years.

On sale where? I've been thinking of trying out their impact sockets. But unfortunately nothing is available in stores around here.
They have been on the Home Depot deal of the day. The two small sets were 25 and the other 35. Got them for the road trip fox for work. Better then the HarborFreight ones I was going to get.

Bought a Stahwile set of metric offset double box end wrenches based on another poster's purchase to add to the wrench collection. They look very well made - made in Germany, chrome allow steel and chrome plated. They were not cheap, but I noticed that the SAE version is about three times the price, so I went with a cheap Duratech set for SAE at $36 on Amazon. The cheap set made in China comes in a nice wrench pouch while the Stahwile set comes in a box. The difference in price is $36 vs about $114. You would think the German company would provide a pouch or tray at that price, but this will work.

So, now I have my new floor jack.
I need a puck for lifting a unibody.
Seems like everyone and their brother has some variant.
Anyone have a recommendation on a decent one?

Thanks.

Hmm... most of my work is not on unibody (because most of my work is on somebody else's cars) but for general use, I've loved this simple polyurethane pad that slips over the round lifting saddle of a floor jack:

For unibody seams, I have a large collection of gizmos and can't even think right now about what I've used. That's how much hind teat my old unibody VW's **** anymore. I think for years my favorite thing was a replacement saddle that was a flat steel square with a very sturdy rubber top. I think I got it at Eastwood. Which still didn't reach around a unibody seam but I got some harder-than-the-back-of-God's-head black plastic square to put on the jack saddle to do that.

Just got this Duratech wrench set. I went cheap on the SAE side for the double box end wrenches. I have to say for $36 this is a heck of deal. These wrenches are chrome vanadium with a nice chrome finish and heavy. The set has 8 double box end going form 1/4" to 11/4". The biggest wrench is huge. Nice pouch to store them in and a lifetime warranty. When I looked it what Stahwile was in SAE it was over $300. This added about 8 lbs to my already heavy tool box. I doubt they are better than the Stah20230313_180428 (002).jpgwile, but they are noticeably heavier.
