^ I went back up to HF about an hour ago. Sold out. Store only got four pairs.

I am not driving to Federal Way to buy a $25 pair of pliers - Not gonna happen. Hopefully they'll get some more in before the next ice age.
Store close to work was out according to the website. Not going to the next closest which is 40+ minutes away.

Without having seen them in person yet, I’m not sure that I would buy them due to the size anyways. I think I would prefer a smaller pair.

Had a similar pair and really wanted to like it but they just always felt a bit odd. They got torn quite fast especially at the seams. I don't know why mechanic gloves need so many patches...
The seams always held up well, the finger tips always worn through on my older gloves. My recent ones have a different "fuzzy"problem....
The new ones are my last try.....

Half of the first shipment of these must've gone to GJ members :ROFLMAO: My store may have only received two, as that's how many he brought out, along with one or two of the 11" long cutters. They made no effort to put these, or the Icon 11" cutters out in the plier aisle, just returned them to the stock area.

Our store got four pairs, I went over the same morning they showed in stock. They weren't on a peg so I asked the girl if she could look in the back, she said I know exactly where they are, she said she unpacked them but hadn't put them out yet. She had two that she was holding for someone and I bought the other two, one for myself and one for my brother. So they were gone before she even put them out.

New Snap-on arrivals this week. He was the only tool truck to show up this week which is unusual. Usually he doesn’t show up except once a month but he has been on it here recently.

First a spindle rethreader set. Probably could have gotten this cheaper from somewhere else but it was convenient and we have this one tech who messes up these threads all the time so I want to be the one who is prepared lol. I need to get the tool to unstake the axle nuts too. On Toyota it will pull threads if you try to take it off when still staked. Learned that the hard way so I don’t do it anymore. I only do it for fun on junk non warranty axles now.

Then some small hose pinch off pliers. And some very sturdy plastic trim tools and scraper tools.

Brake caliper compressor tool for the Tundra, Sequoia and 4Runner and Tacoma brake calipers on the front.

Then semi deep chrome 1/4 drive sockets. I have to admit when I first saw semi deep sockets I thought it was the dumbest thing ever but the 3/8 ones have changed my opinion on that completely and you never realize how convenient and needed these things are. The quarter inch ones are going to serve me well and probably my bay neighbors too as they always borrow my 3/8 ones.

And mom always complains that I don’t ever bring her anything from the tool truck so I got her some pink socks and she likes them. I don’t know how anyone could stand ankle socks but that’s just me lol.IMG_1353.jpegIMG_1352.jpegIMG_1364.jpegIMG_1351.jpegIMG_1386.jpegIMG_1354.jpeg

-Cheapie soldering iron for my Makita batteries do so soldering in the car etc -China

Congrats on your green card, and also your new tools. This line on the envelope the card came in seemed a little freaky tho: "We recommend use of this envelope to protect your new card and to prevent wireless communication with it." I thought, who the hell is sending messages to people's green cards? But then I googled and answered my own question:

So apparently there are reasons - but I would probably keep it in an ammo can Faraday cage anyway so it won't get telemarketing calls or open garage doors and things like that.

Did you say "ammo can Faraday cage"?

Remember: It's not really a Faraday cage unless it's grounded.

Note: Does not fit well in trouser pocket.

Yes!! Exactly like that. I read about them on Garage Journal so I know they're awesome; I'm making one right now for myself. But I'm going to wear it on my head because the tin foil doesn't seem to be working for me any more...

Just need to find a 5 mile-long piece of wire so I can stay grounded.

You have to ground the tinfoil!

The extension cord for the ground does limit mobility some....

Damn - you're right. No wonder my hat stopped working -- it wasn't grounded!! It's my own fault, it's a well known issue:

Excuse me while I go look for a copper grounding stud so I can "stick it someplace deep and dark"....

Nice additions. I found I did not need all the height on that Franklin scaffold. I shortened the legs to the braces, which made for a more comfortable working height for my 6'1", and also made the step up more comfortable. YMMV depending on your age and height.

I wanted it to be taller (& wider compared to the other one they had) for using with my F250 and for washing the roofs on the Edge and Explorers.

I bought the S-jaws because they were interesting, looked cool and were $5 off.

After some mysterious tracking via FedEx, one of two things I ordered from Zoro Tools finally showed up:

IMG_6165.jpg

What is odd is that I ordered two things: the bit driver set above, and a can of food-grade silicone spray that I wanted for my aquarium service business. Two things - same order - became two FedEx shipments. OK, I get that spray cans require different handling, but the two shipments were on the same schedule, showing delivery for yesterday. The bit set showed up at 7:50 this morning -- the silicone spray has yet to arrive.

Back to Wera: very impressed by this kit. Heavy duty case with both a wide loop on the back and Velcro on that. They included a stick on velcro base patch to put.....somewhere....a person would want to hang the kit for easy reach. Very well made - both tools and case.

Likely shipping from different locations. I have ordered individual wrenches from Zoro and had them come as more than one shipment because they pulled stock from different warehouses depending upon availability.

Same thing with Summit Racing, Rock Auto, Amazon, etc.

I don’t know about you, but I Cringe every time something is shipped to me FedEx. Never makes it when it is supposed to, and often takes an out of the way detour.

I’m talking makes it to the Chicago hub, then shoots off to Ohio and then up to Wisconsin before making it back to Chicago and getting delivered.

Both boxes show the same point of origin, but one went to a FedEx location in Lenexa, KS [suburban KC] and one Olathe, KS {4 miles south of the other] There has been no update on the box with the silicone spray, so it's likely lost at their warehouse for a while.

I've had good luck with FedEx.... mostly....but I really cringe when I see something coming UPS, then it changes to "Smart Post" - meaning they hand it off to USPS. Then it's really a guessing game when....and if....the item will arrive.

Totally agree, if it's "smart post", delivery date increases by 10 days to two weeks or the package vanishes into the sub-ether.

Some odds and ends off the Snap On truck.

Foam for picks
A few replacement picks / seal tools
New ratcheting hard handle
A handful of 10mm sockets as spares
Pair of scissors (these were an impulse purchase, I was a bit disappointed to find that they're imported, but they are well made)

That fiasco is over, the teamsters will be delivering sure post again as a regular UPS delivery. DISCLAIMER, There may be a few things still coming by Post Office due to the crazy weather that we've had the last week or so when the contract ended.
My local USPS was overwhelmed by lack of workers AND the transplant explosion of the last 5 years and it had created turmoil the last year along w/the UPS surepost **** and the nail in the coffin of 6" of crippling snow here in the Myrtle Beach area. The Cities, County and State aren't equipped for that weather and neither was USPS no mail was delivered for 3 days....

I know it sounds funny based on their motto "neither rain, nor snow or sleet" we can deal w/flooding but crippling snow that didn't melt the day it fell is just too much. I have 4" still in my lower back yard, upper yard gets sun so most gone.

Forget packages, my US mail, which is mostly junk, if it gets delivered at all, is delivered after 7pm when the weather is clear and dry.

Arrivals from Wren Hand Tools. With all the hype I see regularly for the Icon meme tool bit set, I figured I would share some alternative options from Toptul for anyone wishing the set came with sockets.

Smaller Toptul is GADW2701. Larger is GADW4501IMG_3976.jpegIMG_3978.jpeg
Are you aware that Icon is releasing an updated set that includes sockets this year? It was at November's SEMA show.

Same, most of that here is the result of overbuilding and the many 100+ mailbox clusters that the PO made the builders installed. Pre the transplant invasion my mail came religiously every day btw 1000 and noon. Mondays it arrives at 1900 hours or later and as the week goes on anywhere btw 1600 and 1800 hours regularly. You can't build 30,000 new homes in the county and expect the infrastructure to keep up.

I have had the same rural carrier for 15 (USPS truck and employee) years. He tells me the re-org of the system has made a mess, mail a letter here to a local address and it goes to the other side of the state or even North Carolina before it arrives.

No transplant invasion here, homes are 35 years old. I have no idea why local USPS service is problematic, since a package tracker typically show packages arriving at the Philly distribution center, then they go AWOL.

Local first class mail is usually later than it should be IMHO.

However, instead of yelling at clouds about minor issues, I quote Hesiod (8th century BCE):

"I see no hope for the future of our people if they are dependent on frivolous youth of today". 🤔

I am not surprised by the scissors being imports. I ran into the same thing when I was looking to upgrade my kitchen shears (they look identical to those). Even the some of the Wusthof offerings were made in China.

If you want to drop some money on some really nice kitchen shears, check out Ernest Wright.

*Note I spent way too much time going down a rabbit hole looking for some buy it for life scissors and kitchen shears.

I didn't see my explanation about the sure post system leaving USPS as yelling at clouds, I shared what I knew about it going away after someone complained how bad it made deliveries and I explained why the USPS (here at least) would be helped by UPS (teamsters) taking it over again and was good for my location.

It's good for one of my pensions too...

I was referring to me yelling at clouds over things that I can't control, not you.
