Should have picked up the 5.5 mm socket with nut holding feature. Makes installing removing those tiny fasteners under the dash on ac actuators much easier, no more dropped fasteners.

I don't think any of the new color coded Wera tools are made anywhere but Taiwan. I have some older sockets that came from the Cech Republic. I like Wera sockets a side from their laser etched size markings.

https://www.kctoolco.com/wera-00372...socket-1-4-drive-with-holding-function-5-5mm/

Hi Fedwrench,

I purchased late last year a Wera 1/4" drive nut holding socket set (4-13mm); and the same but a 3/8" drive set (8-19mm). Both Wera color coded socket sets were made in the Czech Republic. I posted pictures of both sets in the "Tools of the Old World" thread.

Dave

Update- Fedwrench: I checked out your link on KC Tool. I did comparisons between the single Wera nut holding socket and the sets. You were right. Wera is shifting production for the nut holding sockets to Taiwan. I must have gotten each of the remaining Czech Republic sets.

Wera 1/4" drive nut holding socket set (still says made in Czech Republic)

Wera 3/8" drive nut holding socket set (says made in Taiwan)

My replacement set of SK X-Frames came in, and they look fantastic:
9PEUTe.jpg

I dig the pizza-box packaging :)

The chrome on this set is great overall - very happy with it. Also, the feel of the ratcheting is just silky and the swing arc is crazy low.
sOF593.jpg

The rack is fantastic too - easily the best design of anything I own or have seen.

I've had a couple spots lately where these would have been super-handy - both the SureGrip open end and the ratcheting end in a tight spot - so I'm happy to add them.

I love these but I just wished they made a longer version as well.

Just found these on cl, don't buy much but sounded interesting, a set of Martin hydraulic wrenches and a proto punch and chisel set both appear to be new. So I paid 20$ for the wrenches, never heard of them but they were USA made, the proto was a no brainer for 15$, I get home and look them up, the Martin OB18K go for 430$ and the proto were a 180$. Sometimes it pays to check out the odd tools for sale ads. Even the pouches were in good shape.

By chance do you have a part # for the Proto punch/chisel set?

SK x-frames have been on my wish list for awhile, along with a snap-on FX80A. I don't need them, but I want them

Me too... but I also want LONGER versions. I did get an SK x-frame 10mm as a single... it feels real nice in the hand. If they were 40-50% longer... Holy **** would they be useful.

I need a nice set of Metric Longs... can't afford Snap-On... 10-20mm would be perfect...

Do you need an open end? I have the extra long gear wrench with a box end and a gear wrench end. Some of my most used wrenches.

Honestly - with the fastener-marking and zero-offset combination end they won't be my #1 grab, but I don't have that tough-bolt open end and having a zero-offset ratcheting end would have been damn handy a week or so ago too.

I'm excited to own them. :)

This actually came the other day, but just got a chance to unbox this guy
UpgtKg.jpg

Well over 40#. Needs some finishing, and the underside of the track on one side has a sharp edge that I'm going to work on at some point. But for now, I've got to set it aside and get some other things done before I get back to it.

I want XL combo... regular open and 6 point box... very little or no offset angle.

I have a few GearWrench XL but they are ratcheting ...

I also have a set of LONG double box... but I really need that combo...

Channellock 460 T&G pliers, 10" pipewrench, 13/16" comb wrench and scribe. The last 3 are Masterforce from Menards and the comb wrench is made by Allen....old stock.

The UPS guy dropped off some McMaster goodness.

A set of Starrett center punches

I use SPAX wood screws almost exclusively. They have a head the will take either a square #2 or a phillips driver. I typically use the square for better engagement. I saw this on the MC website and had to add it to my order. A combination Phillips and square.

View media item 111053
It gets full engagement on these spax screws.

View media item 111054
The rest of the order was a Starrett self centering automatic punch, some 1"-8 and 3/4"-10 transfer screws, and a set of Whia ball headed Torx drivers. I had never heard of such a thing, but they will come in handy.

View media item 111052
Those torx drivers allow full engagement from about 20° to the side.

Rescued some Craftsman USA sockets from the Restore. And picked this up on Amazon for $10. Been looking for a good Stubby. This is Ok, I will keep it but it’s still a little on the fat side for me.

I splurged a bit yesterday for a new EDC. It is extremely light and has a slim profile.

A couple new die grinders dropped off this morning by Amazon. Looking forward to trying them out tomorrow at work. Broke my $40 die grinder last week that held up to 8 years of abuse. Wanted to get the same one again but it's no longer available so I decided to get something better and ordered just the Sunex initially. Then I figured I'd give the Neiko a try as well due to positive reviews and a fair price. Will also mean less swapping of bits/ accessories too which isn't a bad thing.

When the wheel nut on the car is torqued to 442 lbf/ft. you better have a 3/4 inch breaker bar along in case the local shop it gets towed to does not have one (and you cannot use an impact gun). And the breaker bar better be compact so that it can be stored in the car.

i-pb3xZnk-XL.jpg

Extendable (19" to 30") 3/4 inch breaker bar.

i-D888MB8-XL.jpg

Fits nicely into a System 636 pipe with plumbing caps to seal it off.

i-9B6DkQS-XL.jpg

The breaker bar shown extended. No worries, a 13" long, 1/4" wall thickness with a 1.25" ID aluminum pipe will fit nicely over the handle and can be stored there for added leverage.

i-bM49L9W-XL.jpg

A perfect fit and nicely stored in the car.

Very nice. Is that straight out of the box or did you bleach the grips? Good thing I don’t live near Denver any more. Those guys got a lot of my money at the factory store.

Well, wrong reply. Not sure how that happened. Definitely user error. But, I was looking at your post too. Let us know how that turns out. :)
