Slowly building a st of S-K tools, mostly just to justify the vintage S-K hip box I picked up last winter. I have a few more SK sockets, but those are still filling hols in the main box and I didn't feel like digging any out except the boxed set of swivel sockets I picked up last fall. Vintage SK seems to be a little scarce around here.

Nice Frankenstein set!

That is a beautiful box, I would love to get a hold of one of those someday. First one I've seen like it, thanks for sharing.

Thanks Mopar, it's a sister to yours:D
I forgot about this box. I picked it up in Florida last winter and am still undecided about restoring it. It is missing the tray and still trying to find one that fits.
I'm also working on a 3/8 drive set. I picked up the box again in Florida with only four sockets in it. As soon as I get a 9/16 dp socket to complete the set I'll post it.

I have many S-K tools. My first job out of high school was working for an auto parts store and when I scraped a few dollars together would buy some on discount. A few years later they were stolen while attending college in St. Louis. So I recently started collecting them again.

Below is a 3/8" diamond ratchet with a 1930s patent number. A recent 1/4dr vintage set and the green handle screwdrivers were replacements for a set that was stolen in 1970s.

I like that Machinist box! Are the dividers in the small drawers made that way, or the clip in type like Kennedy does?

I have a Kennedy 7 drawer about that size filed with taps, dies and EZ-outs for both taps and screws/bolts. Its a good size for that.

Thanks Outlaw, to be honest, I think the old man made the drawer dividers himself. They look like some sort of fluorescent light disperser or something that he cut down to fit. I will get a pic later, pretty thoughtful they way the top drawer divides.

Already posted in the wanted section but I'm looking for a bunch of those older S-K, green & white, hard plastic handle screwdrivers if anybody has any extra laying around. Please let me know.

We found a few more SK wrenches and sockets in another small toolbox today, so we threw them on the bench and took new pictures

The rail at the front of the bench, a few more in the two loose piles of sockets, and most of the wrenches on the red parts cleaner. Some of those were already out, but after sorting them, they completed a few sets that were missing pieces. This isn't even all that he used to have.. alot of it never came back when they stole everything out of the shop

Did somebody on here just pick these up?
(11) vintage S-K drivers:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-SK-...aultDomain_0&hash=item3cc8a06aec#ht_500wt_948

It was actually a local listing & I thought I had it in the bag too until the price went from $76 to $194?!

All I have to say is wow! Why is old s-k getting this way another example:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/28088101614...AX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649#ht_540wt_1165
$227.50 for a 1/4" drive set! Tempting to sell off some of my stuff.

Female hex drive set, I'm guessing from the early 1930's?? You have to pry back the metal tabs to free the tools from the carrying case thingy.

Sockets have the early SK knurling on them, but don't find SK on them.

Ratchet in the case has S-K stamped inside the traditional SK diamond symbol, and the # 105.

Ratchet above the case is stamped THE SHERMAN-KLOVE CO. CHICAGO, U.S.A., and the # 10570.

Enjoy...............

Very nice!! Unusual selection of 6, 8, and 12 point sockets. Appear to be in excellent condition especially for its age. Joust look at how crisp the knurling is. They don't make them like that any more:thumbup:

Picked up almost a complete set of 3/8 SK Wayne with some 1/4 Wayne at one sale without the box. The back set, also Wayne, came with the box.
The box in front is the one I picked up in Florida with a few sockets in it. I finally got the missing deep socket to finish the grouping.

I was bored yesterday and SK didn't make a 3/8 driver until recently, so..... I pulled the damaged blade from a screwdriver and cut the female end off of an extension. Drilled the handle and pressed in the extension. Got the idea from a ratchet I picked up some time ago with magnetic driver handle on it.

Did you cut teeth/groves in the end of the extention so it wouldn't turn when you put a little pressure on it? :headscrat

I drilled the hole in the handle undersized and pressed the extension in. It is really tight and would take a lot of force to rotate it. If the nut/bolt is too tight for the driver to handle it's time to use a breaker or ratchet.

Here is my SK stash.

I forgot to post my extra sockets and universals.

Damn!
You're killing me!

 -Very nice collection of tools; I have but one S-K. It's a 1/2" rat (42470) that a family member gave me, years ago. It's funny,... I never thought much about their products since I hadn't seen too many before discovering this forum. I do know that if I ever find any of their tools pawn-shoppin' or at a garage sale, I won't let them get away!

Thanks for showing me what to look for.

I have a rather large collection of SK from the mid 60's. The new tools are not as nice or as consistent in finish and overall look. I noticed the knurling on the new ratchets is much smoother and *****. The original knurling was actually very sharp when new. But, it is what it is...:dunno:

The knurling on my ratchet is plenty sharp, nice and grippy. I was only one years old in 1967 but I do have a lot of SK tools from the 70's 80's 90's and now 2012. I am really likeing the new SK tools. I'll be buying New metric wrenches soon.

Those roto heads that Hiball and others have are nice. There is, or was, a NOS 3/8 in a store near me. He offered it for $59, but i resisted the temptation.

Pshh.. Truthfully I have all those Specialty ratchets and the only ones i use in that picture with any Regularity is the Roto Head and the Long 1/2" drive and the Long 1/4". If the Need ever arises ill be covered though.

Out of the eight SK ratchets the Roto 3870 and the 1/2" flex 42472 are my go to ratchets by choice.

if ideal wants to get back to basics they need to take another pass and put some deeper, crisper knurling on those handles. the new rats are ok but they don't have that feel i like.

And a BIG addition to the collection coming in at little over 6' tall and weighing about 80lbs
A Rotating SpA-Saver Display. I think I might be addicted to collecting S-K Tools driving a little over 300 miles one way to pick this one up at a farm in Central Iowa. But still happy with my decision and for only $25 not terribly expensive. Now for the process of cleaning all the Chrome pieces and placing all my tools.

With a few extra ratchets and extensions:

So now I am on the hunt for some of them odd ball adj wrenches, pliers, ect.
If you have any you are willing to trade/sell p.m. me
