Derrick,
Simply outstanding. Huge congratulations for a job super well done.

I have cracked concrete too. Mine is heaved too much to use RD or tile unless I grind it down. How big a "step" would you say you have at worst?

Your garage is SO simplified, where do you store...Christmas decorations, luggage, spare materials-wood, pipe, etc? I wonder if you've thought of putting a shelf across the width of your garage above the garage door for this purpose? Finished of course.

Thanks everybody, all the work has paid off. Its crazy the difference the floor made the garage look. The dryer vent should have been one of the first things to fix, but it wasn't. But, its fixed now. lol

Dan, I'd say the biggest "step" I had was maybe 1/2 inch. I remember seeing your big crack in your garage thread, it is huge. That didnt sound good... Haha. As for my, lawn mowers, weedwacker, shovels, rakes, chains, jacks, kids outside toys, etc, I've got a shed in the backyard for all that :) And you mentioned shelving above the garage door, I think about that often. I've also thought about trying to find some more cabinets to put up there.

Derrick,
Yeah my slab is lousy but the damage happened decades ago and the slab has not moved in the 13 years I've been here. Its because of that, that I think I can grind the slab smooth and use ceramic tile.

As for that shelf? - I'm doing one on the cheap. I'm using a 2x4 ledger lag bolted to the studs above the door, then using two 2x6's overlapped, glued & screwed to each other as the joist. I can't use a continuous 2x as the ends walls wouldn't allow me to get the joist in, in one piece.

I'll use pallets as the "shelf" itself. In my case I don't want a solid floor because I have rats in my neighborhood and much as I try I haven't been able to eradicate them completely.

Yup, my wife used to say that kind of stuff, but she's given up now. I'll be out there doing the most menial of tasks and she'll just go on like it's normal...it's a beautiful thing!

Seriously, get painting.

I definitely recommend the shelf. I just put one up above one of my door rails and it works great to hide stuff. Just get some matching bins and a clean shelf that blends in, instead of sticking out.

Your statement above reminds me of a bumper sticker I've seen now and again ---

"DRIVER CARRIES NO CASH --- HE IS MARRIED!"

I'll still be keeping my eyes open for some good deals on cabinets though. Ive been wanting this barstool for along time, but for $200.00, I just dont think id ever be able to pull the trigger...

Ya, $200.00 for a garage stool? Too rich for my blood. I'd find a thrift store cheapy stool, clean it up, and slap some stickers on it that I'd beg from Yamaha marketing or the local dealership.

Although that stool is expensive, i would be hard pressed not to be able to "justify" it as its perfect for your space, just saying haha.

Looking great! Here's a link to a Blue Stool that is half the price. Just add vinyl logo as others have suggested and you're in business :)

And once you have your blue stool, visit a local sign/banner shop and grab a 2' x 2' piece of white vinyl decal material for a whole $5-$7, then a new sharp x-acto, then go to town on that design!

I would most likely buy the $200.00 stool. I am weak that way when an items is perfect for my project. I would weak kneed click "Place your order", quickly sign off and forget I had done it. By the time it came in, I would have gotten over my sticker shock and all would be fine. Next, I would probably do something like spill paint on it. Things like this have us by the throat.

Congrats on the new FZ8! But, the pics aren't showing up for me. :dunno: I'm not sure if I have to be a member of dotheton forum or not. :dunno: I'd love to find me an FZ1 for the longer rides someday.

What a fantastic transformation, well done indeed!

I'm now completely sold on the RaceDeck, especially for small spaces like yours (and mine). I'm a long ways from being able to do the floor -- still have to do all the electrical, and drywall, and decide on a lift, and rebuild my workbench, and...

Thanks droo. Post up your progress, id like to follow your thread! Good luck!

Might actually have some progress soon -- working on thinking out the layout and rebuilding my existing workbench to suit the new space. And it needs to get warmer (21f here today). ;)

Hey I was just looking a your before and after pic's again (still blown away :) ) surely the budlight neon and the stock car could find their way back in ? maybe above the window? put the power cord through the ceiling for the light?

Cheers Andy :)

PS: is the stock car Radio Controled or just a model

Are referring to the round bud light light? Or the 6 feet long one? I traded the round one for a video game console. The stock car is just an inflatable thing, kinda like a swimming pool toy.
