Just purchased a set of x frame SAE SK. Any thoughts pro or con from those of you who have used them? Or if there is a thread on this already, can you point me in the right direction? Thanks

post up a review when you get them

Long pattern and a FD+ type jaw are very popular on ratcheting wrenches (in case you need to open an end that wants to slip or might break the ratchet).

but most debate about combo wrenches is misplaced as the ergonomics and shape suitability are very personal.... sometimes are heavily use sometimes barely used. One person likes short and one likes long; some like thin and agile others like thick and grunty...

Me, i like the box/ratcheting box like pro-swing and wish SK or snap-on would make them instead of combos w/ratcheting box. :dunno:

I own both metric and sae sets. I love them. I haven't put them through hell yet but the little I have torqued on the ratcheting end they feel indestructible, and the fine tooth/ low arc swing is nothing short of amazing. However if i were to own only one set of ratcheting wrenches it would be something with an offset.

I have both as well. Love the feel, the weight, they feel beefy. Have put a few of them through the ringer with zero issue. The lack of offset has prevented me from using them in a few situations, but overall very very pleased with them.

Not a pro, just a DIY guy who likes to buy once, cry once.

Exactly what the world needed.

1)Ratcheting wrenches with bigger and bulkier box end to fit even fewer fasteners.

2) Extra fat and strong six point head with short handle to prohibit utilizing it's strength.

3) X-frame design to solve none-existent strength issues and restrict access even more

Pointless design - don't want them.

Too harsh? :headscrat

I use the SAE set in an industrial setting everyday and I really like them. The ratcheting action is smooth, and I like the length. I didn't think I would like them, until our local industrial supplier got them in, and I got to mess with them.

They are the best on the market I'd kill for a set but even used people bid you up from hell. They are tougher than nails and beautiful SK is one of my top brands hey Sen me freebies all the time just got a tool box like badge and bad a *** drawer labels just sent out of the blue even sent me a ton of decals and a pair of red white and blue wire strippers Don know why they keep sending me stuff.

I have the metric set I got with the 25% off coupon for joining the SK Club Pro. So far they've held up well and I grab these first before my Snap Ons.

I would get a set if I found them for a steal but I just seldom use straight non reversible non flex. I use my XL Flex Double Box Matcos most with the updated Snappy reversible at a close second. Then again I just have cheapy craftsman for my non reversible. I even use a cheap Pittsburgh flex head combo set more than I use those. I think I have far too many ratcheting wrenches to justify purchasing another expensive set but perhaps someday I'll upgrade to these.

Anyone know the tooth count on these? And how's the "backdrag"?

I have the metric set. Very smooth and small arc, but I really love being able to put the 6 point end on a bolt that has started to strip and taking it right off. And the open end grips as well. I find myself going to those not only more than my other wrenches, but often instead of a ratchet. Not to mention they are a beautiful tool.
