Monday morning I found a set of wolf tracks right past the shack from the night before the size of my fist, wish I would have taken a picture before the rain killed them

The last few updates have been great. Looks like things are speeding along. I love the radiant heat. Wish the previous owners of my place would have put in radiant or I had not had a slab so I could put it in.

The wildlife update was a bit scary. I have never lived in any area where a wolf was of serious concern. I have camped in bear country a couple times. I fortunately have never had anything that I knew could cause serious harm too claoe.

I would be too, if I was going against wildlife like that. I don't think we really have much higher than us on the food chain in Southeast Ohio. I need to get my concealed carry license. I had it in Indiana, but am no longer an Indiana resident. How do you like the Glock? I have a couple buddies who swear by them. I bought a Gen4 because it is ambidextrous (I'm a lefty) and the few times I have been out to shoot it it doesn't seem to fit my hand. I'm going to try change the backstraps and see if that helps.

Also I spotted a tire machine, is that at your dad's or a friends?

I like my glock's. Always works, easy to clean, holds lots of rounds, mags are cheap etc.

I did pick this up my first 1911 a few weeks ago! Great shooting pistol but not a great woods gun tho. 9c449cbf3ef047da862b31396ddf926b.jpgf31e5afd3a20187ccba97fe8b8b885c2.jpg

I got lucky with the tire machine lol. A buddy has a small repair shop at his bar/ restaurant near my land! This is the second time he has fixed a front tire lol

I hear ya on the glocks. I have never been around one that didn't function flawlessly. I would like to get a Kimber 1911 one day. I have a Springfiled GI 1911. I always wanted a nicer one, but couldn't justify the money. The 1911 was a gift for my 22nd from my grandma so it's a lifetime gun. I do have a Kimber 22 LR conversion slide for it though. Makes it cheap to shoot. When I lived in Indy and worked in a questionable part of town the 1911 spent a good amount of time close by.

Good to have a buddy with a shop nearby. clearing land, and pushing brush I'm sure flats are inevitable.

Beautiful Kimber man. They are top shelf pistols. I've got a Colt 1911 that was issued to my great great uncle in WWI dated 1917, 100 years old now. Timeless platform.

And...... we have some concrete folks!!!!

I haven't been up there to check it out myself yet these pictures were taken by the concrete contractor.

He said they did it in to sections over two days so it looks to me that one half hadn't gotten the rest of the color added to it in the picture yet when it was taken. I'm headed up this weekend to check it out and to start framing in between the post etc.

Got to say, the pallet forks on my tractor are the most used attachment I have. They are WAY more useful than just picking pallets.

Deer blind looks awesome!

Question on building out the walls between the posts. why double and what looks like triple studs? Will these be supporting a floor above?

Was also able to get the bathroom & bedroom framed up and get 2 24ft lvl's bolted to the columns for a ledger board for my loft all by my self.

I was able to set 1 I-joist in place for the loft before I had to leave. Should have the joist and plywood subfloor installed this coming weekend.

Moving right along, I was under the impression you were having someone else do the construction on your place but it appears you are finishing it after the crew did the exterior. That is a lot of work and my hat is off to you for tackling this yourself.

Looks great, we have a very similar weekend set up. I was always worried and running up there to check on things. I will tell you, the one thing i did that made me sleep better than anything at night was to add a good security system. We have a variety of burglary features and fallbacks, but we also added a temperature sensor for the apartment side. It will send me a push notification if the temp gets above or below my set points. It also notifies us if there is a power outage and again when it is restored. Im sure you probably worry about it -not being around all the time. It is less than 300$ a year and well worth it for the monitoring.
Great place, and congrats! I had a build thread for ours, but took it down because i just didn't like the extra eyeballs on my secluded property.

Thanks for all the kind words guys. I will be trying to finish most all of the other projects within reason to complete our barndominium.

We have the electrician set to come out next Monday to meet and discuss how we want the living quarters wired.

I also still have to get the fireplace people out to install a chimney in the roof yet for the wood stove.

Need the gas company to come out and set a 500 gal propane tank and trench the line into the building. Then it will be time to get the hvac guy back out to install the Bosch combi boiler/hot water heater.

Here are some pics from our short trip up this past weekend.

Well needless to say with the 1.5 days we had up there with the wife's help I was able to set all the I-joists, nail all the hanger brackets and glue & nail down the subfloor sheeting. We now have a loft!

Been working hard the last few weekends but haven't posted much and I also got a new phone & lost some pictures.

Here are some pictures from this weekend.

We were lucky enough to get our heating & air guy out and he worked 8hrs on Sunday and 8hrs on Monday installing our Bosch combi 131 boiler/hot water heater.

Last week I got 15 yards of fill and made a pad for the propane tank and they were able to set the tank and trench the line and have the tank filled for us.

I was also able to finish 99% of the insulation in the living quarters over the last 2 weeks.38c725ca078b866922771d539e1eb8c9.jpg

We also got some time to get this deer stand put up.48235675bff25399b32b6d3dcb12ec53.jpg7acb12482d7cfa8587993a3f68745704.jpg55d4a8f0bd19c53c89c3f11c2283101e.jpgde7aa23fbe7cfbfd38d372d32378f038.jpg
