That grinder looks great. Looks like its brand new and the eye shields look like they were made for it. Inspirational job.
Block grinder looks fantastic (it fits with the rest of your fantastic looking shop)
Herb, when we drove across the US in the mid-50s our travel trailer had no water storage so we carried a Jerry can that I thought was a cleaned-out gas can. Now I find out it was a Korean War Jerry can for water. It didn't have a screw cap or spout, just a lever lock large mouth lid that hinged out of the way when filling or pouring. As I recall it was lined with something that didn't rust. It was perfect for filling in Alaskan streams because the opening was big -- the less time spent standing in frigid water, the better. It was exactly like this one:

Thanks for the memory and I look forward to seeing what you do with yours.
HS: i've got a couple of these old cans that are full of used solvent that i picked up with a solvent washer a few years ago. are they very valuable cause i heard metal gas cans rust and therefore can't hold gas for your stuff after a while or is that just a rumor?
i know a lot of members use electrolysis to clean out the rust out of their old vintage gas tanks and is there something to put inside the tank to prevent rust in the future?
thanks for sharing!!
Restoring a Jerry can is something you don't see everyday! I have a couple older ones that I should get looking proper, as well.

Herb. Where did you find the gaskets for the Jerry can? There are two different sizes, one for the transportation lid and one for the pouring spout.

Well done on the Jerry can Herb, it looks great. One of the benefits of having a Marine for a father was I was exposed to many colorful military sayings from his youth. Including the name of the spout I just wanted to see if you'd say it. LOL Keep after it and if I come across a nice Wilton I'll shoot you a line.

Well done Herb. I've never thought about restoring this gas cans to a theme like that. Great idea and of course the final result is up to your usual high standards.
