Snap on Announced USA stamp coming back on ratchets

A professional uses tools to make a living. Not a weekend warrior, hobbyist or DIYer.
Not too hard to understand.

The big deal is most of us like USA made tools because we like quality and supporting manufacturing in OUR country. The fact the SO decided to drop the USA stamp cast doubts as to the tool and it's parts COO.

Well I use mine to make my living easier so I guess that makes me a professional.

As for the USA thing, maybe being a trucker in the states and having people look down on us and.cuss us and be treated like **** has given me a bad taste for this country.plus I see the laziness that goes into American fabrication.

i am guessing by snap-on's change of stance it is not a dead horse. apparently the people spoke and they listened.

for some reason i wonder if some people actually don't want made in usa on thier possessions be it tools or other things? too many people just roll over and do nothing and accept anything.

Well this is great news, I have a USA stamped FL80 and a non stamped FL80, they are both strong as hell and smooth, I can say they non stamped version looks funny and I dont like it but as soon as the USA stamp comes back I will be replacing all the dual 80's without the stamp that I have bought

Those are Williams handles anyway. Remember Snap on destroyed the old handle machinery when they came out with the instinct handle.

So, will all of you guys with the non USA stamped T/F/S 80 series ratchets melt them down or sell them on ebay to buy the new USA marked versions?

Will dealers offer an amnesty period wherein you can turn your non USA marked ratchet in for free and buy new USA marked ratchets at full list?

What will we talk about once the USA is back on all of the Snap on ratchets?

Snap-on did explain why the stamp was removed and people did not believe it. The bat **** crazy conspiracy theorists came up with all kinds of theories. I can tell you who most of them are just by looking at my ignore list.

With all due respect, Snap-on is bringing the USA stamp back due to negative feedback including comments on forums. And, no one believed the "marketing" explanation you defended unless Snap-on management is dumb as a stump. Can you say "New Coke"?

Meh. I'd rather they said "Made in Germany" anyway. Couldn't care less about the stamping on my ratchets. Good to see that SO are listening to what the consumer wants though, for those that do care.

Where it's made doesn't always equate to quality. I just purchased some cresent USA made adjustable wrenches and they are terrible. So loose. I've got some Tiwan ones that are way better.

Where it's made doesn't always equate to quality. I just purchased some cresent USA made adjustable wrenches and they are terrible. So loose. I've got some Tiwan ones that are way better.

There are too many variables in play here it's not that cut and dry. I mean there are bottom of the barrel USA made tools and high end ones. Then you have stuff that's just bad out of the package too. Taiwan is getting better too. Gearwrench is taking a huge chunk of the market. I think just about every mechanic I know has a set.
For years and years though the best mechanics tools were US made. You can't deny that.

Oh come on now, that's a bit of a generalisation don't you think?

Chrome stuff, Ratchets, Wrenches, Sockets, I'm with you all the way, Tool boxes too.

But when it comes to Pliers (Except Vise Grips), I'm Knipex (German) through and through, I have SO, MAC and Knipex Pliers and the Knipex are the best without doubt (all equivalent models & price)

Adjustable wrenches, you just can't beat Bahco (Sweden) and Snap On agreed so much they bought the company (anyone remember Victor Kiam)

Electronic Stuff, I'm Sorry, but I need to see Made in Japan on my high price electronics.

Got a text from my Snappy dealer today (he's at a Snappy tool show in Vegas) and he said the president of the company announced that the "USA" stamp will be coming back to the ratchets. Dealer said he got a standing o!

Awesome! I'm VERY happy.

I just spoke to my Snap On dealer today and the first thing he said to me was "Snap will be putting USA back on the ratchets soon". I have my Snap On ratchets on order. As soon as the Dual 80's start coming off the line with the USA stamps, my Snap On dealer will have them for me. I also got this Socket set today for $225.00. My Snap On dealer picked this up at the tool convention. 12 deep, 12 shallow, and a Daul 80 ratchet.

WISDOM?? The only steel that can be found in the ground has been put there by a human being! Iron ore ,one of the ingredients of steel, is found in the ground! A large part of the success of the American industrial revolution is attributed to the supply of high grade iron ore found in the Lake Superior region which is slowly dwindling. The Chinese lack high grade iron ore resources and import tons. A large part of their steel is produced from scrap metal much of which comes from North America. Watch the history channel instead of YouTube--you'll learn something!

I know its 'just' a stamp and the ratchets are still the same but I'm glad they decided to put the USA back on them, mainly as i like seeing the coo on my tools, particularly when i spend a good amount of money on them.

i have been searching for one of the early USA stamped dual 80s for ages without any luck, at least i wont have to now

any words on when they start to ship out USA stamped ratchet? I have $400 saved up ready to go, but I don't buy from dealers rather directly from Snap On, so there's no way I could check them before I pay.
