Watch this.I just used the Harbor Freight (Maddox) ball joint press kit with my impact wrench to remove both the left and right side ball joints on a Kia Sorento and had absolutely no problems with it. I think I paid around $70 for it.
Having said that, I'll admit I don't do this for a living and who knows how long it will be until I have to do ball joints again. I've never had anything else to compare this Maddox kit to. I'm sure the SO kit is awesome - but can someone tell me what the difference is?
So I watch the video above and I am impressed. Also watched a man with the same set working on a F150.He payed $650 for his BJ1. Well, I have better things to do with my monies. My Astro kit has worked perfectly for a fraction of the cost. Yes the BJ1 does have some great features, but for the price it's not worth it. JMHO.

If you do it every week it’s worth it. I don’t really care how much something costs when it has a return on investment
For a guy that changes a set of ball joints once every 4 years, no it’s orobably not worth it
