Alright..so in the "Show Your Toolbox" Thread, I saw someone had posted their 40th Anniversary Corvette SO top box, and well, it got me all excited to look for my favorite car's tribute tools. Checkin eBay a bit ago and found these on there but the BIN price is wayyyy to much for me to spend on a screwdriver kit, regardless of the edition. Is this what I'm in for when searching for anything with the words "Corvette" and "Snap-On" in the same sentence? I'm gonna be pretty disappointed if this is the case. :(

I bought a set of the 50th corvette screwdrivers from Ebay for my FIL's xmas present last year. IIRC I got them for less than $100 shipped to Canada on a best offer type auction. Seems I haven't seen a set since then for less than 125. I don't get the hype really. they do look nice with the cranberry color and they mean something to him because he and his son have corvettes. I'm not a domestic brand loyal type of guy so i guess it's not something i'm into. wonder if Porsche or VW will ever do something with Snap On? :lol_hitti

I've just always been a Corvette guy. Grew up around them and now own 2 myself. Just thought it'd be cool to have some tools with the name on them. But not for these kinds of prices.. And I'm surprised more sports cars/companies haven't gotten together with SO to do something like this.

Being an owner of a 94, I REALLY want the 40th C4 snap on box. I could have bought one once for $1500 and chickened out because I wanted something less nice to work out of. Paint over spray gets on and in everything and would have destroyed the box in just a few weeks. (Even with a cover)
They are bad ***.

FYI: The targa top ratchets from the 84-96 corvette are made by Snap-on. I just had mine rebuilt a few months ago

That creeper is pretty cool but i feel like with use, the design would wear away. That same top and bottom is on eBay STARTING at $3500. That is a real nice 7022 with Hutch and Top Locker, one on eBay going for ~$5K. That seems a little more reasonable. I didn't know that about the targa top rathcets in C4's. They're not labeled SO are they?

No they do not have Snap On on them anywhere but people who are familiar with Snap On tools would easily recognize it as a Snap On made tool as the ratchet head is identical ,has a Snap On date code, etc.

They weren't marked Snap On as they were not sold as a Snap On tool.
They have CORVETTE on the handle as they were made under contract for GM as a torx tool for use on the tops.

They are basically an industrial finish 700 series 1/4" drive ratchet with a rubber grip and a special torx bit attached.
