I bought a NIB Snap On FRLF80 on eBay last week. It was a boxed deal with a ratchet handle flashlight. I was looking it over, and noticed that it does not say USA anywhere on the ratchet.
A lot of the older dual 80s did not have the US stamp. They early ones did, and the most recent do again....there was a gap of no US.
....though I know it's useless, let me BEG..... PLEASE LOVE OF GOD LET THIS THREAD NOT TURN INTO YET ANOTHER SPACE WASTING DEBATE ABOUT THE TRUE COO OF THE RATCHETS.

Seems like it already did, but I can't tell if is started in post #1 or post #3.![]()
Around late 2007/2008 Snap-On stopped stamping USA on the ratchet heads.
Last year they began stamping USA on ratchets, but on the handle ring where the part number also exists.
If USA is not stamped on the handle it is NOS.
Check the date/year stamp on the handle ring
for year of mfg..
Done.
I seem to think that somewhere in a press release the president of snap-on explained in more detail what happened, or I was reading a statement or maybe someone on the GJ had explained it so that we could read more about it in a post from long ago; but my memory tends to forget some things and remember other things from my past.

I know that many Snap On tools are not always stamped with a date code either.
Yes, just a comment that the USA was missing. Not concerned about authenticity or COO. I know that many Snap On tools are not always stamped with a date code either.
Nope, for all I know (as you read into it too) the OP may be asking if it is a legit or counterfeit ratchet. My post at least contained something useful for the OP....![]()
Not quite.
Cope is dead on. I get the vibe that some/many folks here have a lot better luck than I do with date codes. My success rate is around 50/50, to the point that I consider it a bonus to find a tool with one. My one dual80, an FHD80 w/ red handle, has no date code.

No reason for it NOT to be there. Well, unles, you buy Snap-On tools made in Asia...Muhahahahahaha,
Newbs with ******** responses.
I STILL love it on the GJ.![]()
Just got back from the garage. Plenty of Snap-On there with DC. Among those without: An entire RXM metric flare set. An entire TWM metric 1/2" 6 pt socket set. A 1/2" breaker bar SN18A. Every single one of my sliding t-handles, in 4 drive sizes.
Have a nice afternoon.
Probably worthy of a call to customer service.
Date codes ensure recalls or tool failures are tracked as well as well as ownership if warrantied and in the system.
Good luck.![]()

I was unaware that they brought the USA stamp back on the dual 80 ratchets
You revealed the secret !
Those are made by one armed gay black Mezkin leprechauns enslaved in South Bangladesh.
They also make Pronto soft face hammers while facing south.
The gig is up Strap-On. You B outed !
You took the high road, I apologize, I was feeling a bit snarky this morning.
As I tried to point out in post #2 it's always a good idea to post a question or comment clearly rather than just tossing a fact into the road and see who runs over it
This is odd, I know they move around on ratchets but I have a hard time finding any without date codes.
.....the morons have been set loose, too late.....
Is that why USA or a date code isn't stamped on these when they are rebadged?
