Hello I recently purchashed a older snap on ya642 jack 2 ton model off craigslist for 35 dollars. The main issue i have noticed with it .the jack leaks oil out of the main nut that holds the hydraulic cylinder in place.I was curious what I need to do to remedy this issue.

did you recently get this one from Chicago CL? I was trying to get ahold of the seller myself on that one. I tried 3 times and had my E mail "returned" as "undeliverable" each time.
I looked at their E mail address as posted and its like they "forgot" part of the E mail.
that's OK, I don't really "need" another jack right now, as I just got one of those very same jacks the week before off of CL/coincidentally I had to go to Indiana to get it. I pd $60 for this one and it works fine.
it was just missing 1 piece. (the piece that's pinned to the handle to turn the release valve) but I have 2 "extra" handles at the house anyway.
that takes me up to 3 working floor jacks here, but for $35 it was hard to pass up the one (I think) that you got, even needing repair; seeing how it is $400 from S/O these days.
and today's YA 642 is listed at that $400 tag as being imported from China on the S/O website, no thanks. Good save.

getting stuff used, seems the only way to get good US made goods any more... you got a good deal, especially if you can do the rebuild yourself.
for what the rebuild kit costs you'll have a solid jack for under $100. way better than you can get new these days for that kind of money... and some more expensive that arent as good. Rebuild that jack and itll outlast several available "new-today"

While I was waiting for (hopefully) a reply from the seller, I PMd Hi Ball here and got a price on the rebuild kit. Not too badly priced.

Lol that's funny I saw that he messed up his email also .I guessed it was a gmail adress and got lucky. Its a nice jack I just hope I don't have to take apart the entire hydraulic cylinder because all the seals might be worn.

If its leaking around the ram in the tank nut area, the main seal is more than likely compromised and it will have to come apart.

the 3rd time I added the "g" to the address he listed as well and assumed it was just a wrong guess when I didnt hear back from that one either, but figured I reached "somebody" when I didn't get a "mailer-demon failure notice" like I did when I just copy/pasted the address as he had it listed the 1st 2 times. like mentioned before I dont need another right now but for $35 it was hard to pass up.

Some links on the rebuild are below. The SO is the same as the Walker 93642. Good buy at $35.

yes and no. Good buy yes. and if you do find a WALKER version yes the same. but in recent years there has been alot of buying out/mane changing on these; now the "same" jack is listed as a Hein Werener.
It went from Walker to Lincoln to Marquette to (now) a HW. My blue and yellow 93642 is a "Lincoln" but says all over it "made in Taiwan quality assured in USA" looking at it next to the S/O that I bought about 10 days ago for $60 there are definite differnces in "how it's made" the S/O version (older!) is definitely a better built jack. the newer versions have definitely been "cheapened"
look at the webs on tops of the side frames, the casters and the rear caster mounts between an older version and the newer ones and youll see what I mean. IDK if the same rebuild kit applies over the years.

You have to know the series of your jack because the size of the u-cup changed with the Lincoln 93642 Series D. The series D u-cup size is 7/8" x 1 1/2" x 1/4" while for the series before that, the size was 15/16" X 1 7/16" X 1/4". Or, you have to measure carefully to get the right size.

The part number for the Lincoln Series D u-cup is 228256 as per the parts breakdown.

http://www.ohiohydraulic.com/pdfs/W93642.pdf

The part number for the series before that is 227919.

http://www.ohiohydraulic.com/lincoln_jack_jpegs/93642-C.pdf

The reason that the outside diameter of the u-cup change was so small is that they used the same cylinder but it was bored just 1/32" for a 1/16" total change in diameter.

The parts breakdown for the Series D also shows what other models it applies to for the rebranded Lincolns.

Its been a while since I posted anything about the jack. I recently got a new bleeder screw for it. The jack seems to lift pretty well, except it seems to pump a little hard when lifting my jeep. Any ideas??
