Leviton’s USB charger/tamper-resistant receptacle uses advanced technology to deliver the most efficient charging for every device. The USB ports are controlled by a smart chip that recognizes the charging needs of each unique device and optimizes current to reduce charging time. This allows users to spend less time waiting for devices to charge and more time enjoying them. The Type A, 2.0/3.0 USB ports feature a combined power of 2.1 amps. The USB receptacle also features a high-power port, ideal for charging tablets and other high-draw portable devices. With these value-added features, users can be sure they are making the smart choice for charging their electronic devices.
I am a little confused says a combined output of 2.1 amps but also says it has a high powered port?
I was not sure of that either. The user guide has some extra info on this:
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT THIS USB CHARGER/TAMPER RESISTANT OUTLET:
The 2.1 Amp USB outlets on this USB Charger/Tamper Resistant Outlet are
optimized for use with certain types of devices such as iPad®. As a result, the USB outlets may not charge all models of all brands of your mobile devices. If any of your devices will not charge using the USB outlets, use the 15A-125V outlet and the AC adapter of your device for charging.
The two USB outlets are designed to charge two devices simultaneously. However, if you plug in two devices to charge simultaneously and their combined power requirements exceed the power capacity of the USB outlets, they will shut down to protect your devices. In that case, try charging each device by itself.
So looks like 2.1A total. This should charge an iPad even if it is on provided nothing else is plugged in.
