I also torched the hole in one of the forks, then put a ball on it. First trailer I moved had a chunk of steel in a weird place and I did not realize it, bent the ball, bent the fork, and ripped up the end of the fork as well. No more moving trailers that way, I am going to have to find some more material to make a receiver for the forks. Between that and the u joint, I was a little disappointed, luckily I still got plenty done to make it worth it.

Looks like its heading in the right direction! Just having all the **** ends of the storage trailer/seacans lined up will save so much time plowing this winter vs having them all haphazard.

Strouty,
I had a feeling there was work going on, you Prince of Maine, you King of New England.

I could feel the rumble of heavy equipment all the way over here in Detroit, like a low grade earthquake.

You got lots and lots done!

Wow!

Taking advantage of the continued passable weather, I see.

Looking good!

Don't sweat the small stuff. Things will break. You'll fix them later.

You're rolling, and inspiring me. I'll be working on the dreaded basement today.

Cuda...You are mentioned more than you'll ever know. You are hands down "The Princess of the Garage Journal".

And your gun is probably bigger than Bill's. And there's no doubt that you're probably a better shot.

I just got that Mossberg for my birthday and the first time out, I think it won. [**** sticks, the bruised shoulder pic is on my phone, not the computer.) But I've been practicing.

Glad to see you back!

Can you check that little blue office? I think Tampa may have forgotten how to operate the latch from the inside.....:headscrat

Hope everyone has a safe Christmas Eve, and great Christmas morning. Updates will come this weekend.

Happy Christmas my friend to you and yours.

(Darn kids took over the kitchen to bake cookies so our dinner got pushed back to about 8:30, I may starve to death.)

You might think about a "limbsaver" kickpad for the shotgun. It worked for my wife.

Yesterday (4.5 hours of it) I spent moving trailers, and equipment around. I also took out some more trees in the middle area, I hope to finish that today. Tomorrow will be the first true freeze, so I want to have as much done as possible. I still have no operational snowplow, so I have to work on that Monday, we are supposed to get plowable snow on Tuesday. This is where yesterday left off and I will try and get some updated pictures of things before it gets dark for todays progress.

Thank goodness a proper post, now we can all continue putting our lives in order vicariously through your progress!
Is that an outcrop of virgin forest in the middle of your lot?

Bill, I have only spent about 4 days working at the shop in the last three weeks. I wish I was working hard instead of posting, had way too much going on that has severely hampered forward progress.

Thanks Tommo and it is some virgin forest. I originally wanted to save some trees, but it became a real problem in the last few years. Now I want it all open and flat, it will be better for me and for plowing. Hopefully by the end of today, there will be nothing but a flat area there.

Thanks guys, personal issues are a bit tough for me, especially this situation. I don't want to think about it, let alone discuss it, but I am forced to deal with it at this point.

Enough about my mess and back to the regularly scheduled updates. This si where I got to today, if it doesn't freeze solid tonight, I may try and move the pile one more time to get it out of the way completely. I can live with it the way it is. Tomorrow I am borrowing a truck to move the gooseneck trailer, it looks like I will be loading things on the trailer for storage, I would prefer to not do this, but I think I am out of time at this point. Later in the winter when I get things squared away, I figure I will be able to shuffle things around a bit more. Right now I just need it cleared so if it does snow I am all set. I also got the plow on the dump truck, still need to change the alternator and the battery terminal I added when I rewired things has broken, so it needs to be replaced again. Overall I am satisfied, I do wish I had the time back from when my eyes were messed up, but that is how things happen and I am trying to move forward.

Nice work!

Just 1 question.

Isn't that wood sided trailer supposed to be your girlfriends wood shop?

If it is shouldn't it be closer to where you had the power installed for it?

Yes it is, but not this year. Too much going on right now. If we want to work on or in it we can use the truck to pull it out. She is not a fan of the cold, so it will be more of a three season thing once we get it done.

Did you get the plow on? We will have around 8 inches or so up north by the time it finishes snowing tonight with high winds tomorrow. Glad my tractor has a cab and heat. They are also talking about temperature dropping to around 4 below tomorrow night.

The items above require decision making.

Perfectly reasonable for the average person to take these actions.

People with hoarding problems have an actual physical problem in the brain that makes decision making much more difficult than the average person. They can't decide. They end up having to handle an item numerous times before deciding it's fate.

I just read a scientific study on the problem. Very technical, and hard to find and understand the results, but conclusions can be picked out if you go through it carefully.

Here is a summary:
http://www.livescience.com/22140-hoarders-brain-why-they-cant-ditch-stuff.html

Another:
http://www.popsci.com/science/article/2013-04/scientific-reason-you-cant-throw-your-stuff-away

A couple of points I gleaned from all of it.

There are different causal factors and components. People hoard different kinds of things for different reasons. It's complex. It can combine with OCD and depression problems. Also, hoarders have problems with organization, so they can't easily have a place for everything and everything in it's place. Things get put down anywhere and everywhere, and then misplaced. Then they need to get another. The relative value of items gets inflated. Soon everything has value. Receipts, paper bags, old newspapers, used envelopes. It's a perfect storm.

The good news is that it isn't your "Fault". The bad news is the article didn't say how to deal with it.

I haven't found, what cures exist. What I am doing, is just struggling along, making as many decisions as I can, trying to retrain my brain to learn to deal with decision making and become better at organization.

With my situation I tend to get paralyzed due to over complication. As an example if I want to organize my bolts, I have a very hard time labeling a drawer 1/4" and putting all the 1/4" bolts and associated hardware in it. My brain fights with me, almost as if I am not telling the truth, in my head I want a label for specifics. So my labels would be grade 5, 1/4" x 20 thread, 3/4" length, color, head type. I "want" to do this for every bolt, washer, nut, even if I only have one. Because I can't do that, I just give up and leave them wherever. Even worse I will organize things one way, then forget how I organized them when I come back, then I have to start over.

I have actually started a drawer that is labeled 1/4", but when I go in it, there is a lot of other hardware not related. To some it is easy to do this, I just can't get around this mentally.

When a organizer says one home for everything, that boggles my mind. I have so many things that are multipurpose, I remember trying to do this, I bought a dozen pairs of scissors to keep them in the proper areas, after a while I lost all 12 and wasted hours of time looking for them, only to end up buying more anyways. I try and keep things simplified, but it is very hard. I am hoping to be able to find a middle ground so I don't have to argue with myself so much. This winter should be a good test as I am ready to organize my stuff, I have plenty of drawers, shelves, bins, and labels.
