As I was saying on the Garage Sale thread earlier today, I found this wartime Bonney 585-18 (9/16" x 11/16") at the flea market this morning and promptly lost a half hour tearing through the rest of the guy's many half-filled junk boxes looking for others, especially the white tiger-ish 585-4 (3/8" x 7/16"). As a teaser for the unfamiliar, you'd be hard-pressed to find wrenches with more wartime service provenance than these, which bear the Quartermaster Corps drawing/stock number as their prefix! But the smallest wrench in the series is pert near unobtainium. Full story here.

A little update as I had a EF1214H 3/8 X 7/16 flare wrench. Anybody interested in a SK 3/8 X 7/16 flare six point wrench just private message me. I am also looking for a high polish EF2022H 11/16 X 5/8 six point flare wrench as the RF53 is a 12 point

Don’t see the 6 points. At least I don’t.
Actually they are 5 points but most folks classify them as a 6 point. Even in the 1986 Bonney tool catalog on page 20 they are classified as 6 point. The 12 point flare wrenches actually only have 10 points but that is naming convention on flare wrenches.

Ha-ha. I lost a fund-raiser adult spelling be on the word “ukulele” one time.
Oh, hell - did it again (bee).

BTW, Mike, I did a search for a EF2022H, and can’t find any single-hex line wrenches in my Bonney disarray, but I must have some…

I picked this wrench up to use with my Bonney 3 jaw puller. It has a 5/8" square opening. The forged code is "ct" and goes along with the "b-shield" in-between the N's which puts it in the late 20's i guess? Its just in such excellent shape I'm doubting the dates. What do you guys think?

Definitely 1928. Many carbon steel black japanned tools exhibit remarkable endurance, especially something like a machine wrench that hung on a nail or sat in a drawer used for one purpose sparingly. Great example. Neat idea, too.

FWIW, AlloyArtifacts uses “embedded-shield” for “‘b-shield’ in-between the N's” to describe that logo.

To be truly picyune, there are no points at all on that wrench - those are called interior angles.
I will continue to call it the same as the catalog calls it as it is the accepted naming convention and has been in use for the well over 50-75 years. No question in my mind and it gets the 6 or 12 or 18 quadrillion points across. I just could see it as I walk over to my co worker mechanic and ask for a 5/16ths 5 interior angle wrench and get my **** laughed off the face of the earth or have a strange look from co workero_O:cool::p:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

In other news today I found some 12 point Triangle Corp wrenches today. They are Herbrand division wrenches for a couple bucks. Not a Bonney but also not a bad score

So here's a couple of early 4095's I dug up. looks like the embossed one is an S code 1927.....about as early as Bonney sockets get as far as I know. Are their other messages on this thread ref. ( obviously I'm trying to avoid scrolling thru the whole thing) this early of Bonney socket? Thanks.

I haven't kept track of early socket postings, MR. X, sorry. 1927 is indeed the year they started blasting the trade mags with detachable socket wrenches and handles and they added socket wrenches to their TM in 1928. It's strange, but they apparently stopped date coding sockets fairly early. I have never found any forged-in/embossed sockets, but none of the early script CV sockets I have and none of the 30's and 40's sockets I have bear date codes. Your other uni joint doesn't have one, for example.

Bonney picks from today:CE1590D5-FD38-4469-B121-364EC574080E.jpeg
H10, CL15, CP4. Interested by the Phillips license 7, possibly indicating Bridgeport as OEM.

Also these JPDanielson-manufactured “herringbone” grip pliers with no model number.

How is it they say “MADE U.S.A.” instead of “MADE IN U.S.A.”?

I hope I was clear; I meant to justify the naming convention, not criticize it.
I did not and do not advocate calling it anything other than a 6-point, Mike. Just as I would not suggest you call a screwdriver something else because it does not have any screws on it, or a waterpump wrench something else because it doesn’t pump water.

Just making sure that I am was clear on how I used normally accepted naming of things. I can say since bit drivers came into being I tend to use screwdrivers more for prying then I should but I still call them screwdrivers.

Picked up a maybe/sorta 10” Automobile adjustable today - my first. Paid antique store price for the thrill of derusting.

Dynamic jaw looks Bonney to me, but is a regular 7-toother. The static jaw has 10 teeth. “MFG” and maybe “NC” or something are the only stampings that were not ground off, possibly because of a crack where the leaf spring close to the jaws was riveted, I guess, too hard.

Well my search for a EF2022H was successful but I had to do a eBay buy for a additional EF-1214H and a EF-1618H but the price was right at around $10.00 for the three flare wrenches plus shipping of $8.00. Can’t complain as it was the cheapest I found in a long time. Now that mini set with roller bag is period complete as Bonney originally sold them.

Please show more of the FOE5S set. Really want a set like that
The FOE5S set is all original that I bought in 1983. I can say I never lost any in this set but in metric set I did of course loss the 13-14 MM one. I hope you good luck in finding a complete set of these as I only seen one on eBay in the last 4 years and it went for a crazy high price
