Started to get the new house built

It may not be too late to change the garage openings, talk to the contractor about it..
Money spent now won't feel bad compared every time you look at the wasted space.
Move the air compressor outside, closed in storage.

I think I am actually ok with it now. The wife can keep all her stuff to the small side of the garage and I can put a 4 post in the center of the bigger area and have room to work. If I put it on casters I can move it to the edge and park 4 cars if needed.

I would do 50 amp for the welder and 30 amp for the compressor. I think that would cover whatever size of each you end up getting. IMO

Depends on size of compressor and welder you purchase/own. IF you do a 50 amp for a 220V welder and a 30 for a 220V compressor that should cover you now and if you decide to get something larger in the future.

30 amp requires larger wire also #6 for 50 amp, #10 for 30 amp and #12 for 20 amp.
I think your fine with 20 amp 110V circuits.
I'd recommend the 30 amp for air compressor in case you decide to step up to a larger 2 stage or whatever. At least your covered. Same with the 50 amp welding outlet. Easier to have it there now before walls are finished. Again just my opinion. Wire is cheap compared to trying to get it in there later.

Weekly update: Plumbing has started and some of the final framing was done.

Roof is working and house is wrapped

Fireplace is framed in

Stairs are in place to the bonus room and storage area. Bonus room will just have the air system and drywall hung. I will finish it off later down the road.

Plenty big for a bed and man room. This is right over the garage.

Yea, the house should be done at the end of Sept and we don't close until the 1st of Nov. We would do it earlier, but we have a lease that does not end until the 28th of Nov. Gives me 4 weeks to move everything.

Oh wow 4 weeks is plenty of time to move. We're trying to move in 4 hours haha but don't have that much stuff.

We hired some local movers for a decent hourly rate. (3 guys and a 26' truck) I can let you know if they do a good job next month [emoji106]

Concrete was poured for the garage, there is a center slab that is 8" and 4x17 and the rest is 4". I don't see reinforcement though. Is that an issue if the concrete is 3000 PSI?

Well finally home after a short tour. Got to do the final picks of the cabinets and then went to go see the house. Concrete for the garage is down and saw cut. The ceilings should be about 11'8' when they are finished. Inside dimensions seem about 23' x 34', lots of room.

Front of the house, the roof line of the garage is REALLY high.

Drywall is going up and it is starting to really take shape. That portion should be complete the end of next week and then they go on to trim. Siding and the rest of the brick work should start soon also.

Just room to grow, I have three 220's in the garage along with the extra lights, outlets, and 30amp 110 outlet. If I ever decide I want to do something crazy it is there to expand. If I don't, it was cheap to add now anyway.

I measured at 11'9 before lights and sheetrock. So should be about 11'8, I had the lights set up around a work bay area.

Few updates, trim has started. I have never understood why you do trim before you paint, wouldn't the seems look a lot cleaner if you painted first?

Anyway, here are a few pictures.

The trim installation just depends on process. One option is to texture and spray the walls, then install trim, then paint trim. Another option is to
install the trim
caulk and fill all the joints of the trim
spray the trim
mask the trim
Texture all the walls
Paint the walls

The latter prevents having to recut all the edges along the trim from caulking and lets you tape on a smooth, sealed surface (the painted trim, likely satin or glossy white). The trim should definitely be sprayed thus doing it first saves a masking step. The walls may be rough sprayed but ultimately backrolling is best.

Slowly moving along. Well it seems slow, but there is a lot happening.

Garage has its first coat. Keeping it white, but will do some accent color later.

Siding, not a fan of the color, but the wife loves it so I don't really care much.

Master bedroom ceiling is painted

Wood beams are sealed (not what we expected, but still nice)

Trim and doors are being painted.

Cabinet colors, island on the left, mains on the right. The darker colored tile is what we are using for the whole house.
