Wow a DP with blower and strategically placed.
Need more details on your "can" light.
Does the drill press light get hot? Lol
Oh wait I see you changed it out for a CFL bulb...bet it works much better, I've seen that thing smoking before when it had a regular bulb in it.

Your supposed to clean out the pork n beans residue before turning on he light bulb so it won't smoke.
But really, a very creative and simple solution. To the lighting I mean.I'm not commenting on the blower.

This is a 5 Stitches exclusive design and nobody has done this on the GJ before. Here's the finish pic.
Here's the problem. I like the look of traditional stack. The problem with a stack is that it gets top heavy and moving it is a pain. Also since I don't have a real intermediate chest I can not bolt the top chest down. So if moving it it could easily fall over. Also if I want to do anything on middle chest I have to remove all the drawer and lift it off top chest. So how do I keep the look of a traditional stack and solve this problem. So here what I did.
Each chest is mounted to the wall by itself. So I can remove the top, middle or bottom by itself without moving any other box.

yep, i've been dealing with him for a long time myself. It got taken to another level back in 2006 when we bought the house. The damn ******* moved in literally...

After I got the HF boxes done I looked for ways to deal with some other tool boxes on the Craftsman wall. One on these boxes has all my welding stuff. This includes my MIG stuff, O/A torch, my Turbo torch, and propane torches. While this set up works great in a shop setting they don't lend itself to make these portable. Meaning if I need to take them I have to go in the drawer, make up a toolbox of parts needed for equipment.
I bought these cause I needed these pieces to be portable. So I needed to combine pieces to each piece and keep them together. Starting with my MIG I decided to do this.

This includes
pliers,
needle nose pliers
tank wrench,
hose wrench
brass, flux nozzles
025, 030, 035 tips
Flux wire
Solid wire
Now all I need to grab is a welder, tank, helmet, and gloves and away I go. I didn't make provisions for any tools like clamps, grinders etc. I just needed all the parts for the MIG include with the MIG ready to go.
I got the BOSS out supervising me today. Damn he's always sitting back in his cushy chair watching me sweat my *** off but I love him.
Come on dad you done yet? He starting to sound like the wife! LOL

Top idea Gerard, I have a dozen or so kicking around as well.![]()
Got another problem area checked off the list today.
This cabinet was a mess and kept throwing stuff in. Over the years I collected Dewalt cases and half of them where just sitting in here empty so figured I'll reuse them. So I started off with one like this.
I decided to cut all the dividers out with oscillating tool and when finished it looks like this.
I started to put some tool that had no cases into them. Here are just some of them.
Now decided to move some things around and here's the final product.
Now besides my Dewalt saw, jigsaw, and Milwaukee Sazall the Dewalt cases are holding tools the would have been lose and not being able to be stack. That's been a project I got done that was wayyyyyyyyyyy over due.

Great news Gerard! I have 5 of those metal cabinets. Two are use and three in waiting. They sure could use the 5 stitches touch.
Oh and your avocado green saw. Just like my first saw. Boy that's been awhile.
PS there is cold beer in the frig. (Bribe of the day)
Great idea with the boxes. I like having some bottom boxes movable so you can use them as tables. I'm not a big fan of full stacks in the home shop or garage. And like you said, they get too heavy. IMO, the stacked setups make more sense if you are working in a larger shop with others.
Very nice idea cutting the inside of the boxes out to reuse them. My father has a few older metal boxes he told me to take and I might just take them to repurpose them.

So did you change out the wheels on the boxes so they all swivel to make them easier to move around? If so, what wheels did you use?
Yes, I use all cheap 2in casters. Granted they don't roll the best but they work relatively well for the purpose. I got them at Walmart for $2.00. I think they are same ones you can get at HF. My HF boxes still have original casters until I can't find some super strong small ones.

Taumac,
I was wondering if there was anything other than the two brackets holding up each box? I love the idea and I am hoping to replicate it as it would give me a rollaway work surface.
Thanks!

In honor of taumac...
A small progress update from my garage. The old Stacker upper tool chest has been taking up an unacceptable amount of space on one of the workbenches. Was looking at the messy drill press shelves that hold taps, drill bits, holes saws and other random stuff and reading taumac/Gerard's 5 Stitches Garage thread with his many over-workbench tool chests when the light went on... Mount the tool chest on the lowest shelf and put all the drill press tools into it. Lowered the shelf a bit for easier access and top opening clearance and ta da!, the chest is mounted (but tools have not been sorted and stored yet).
Two birds - one stone!
