Fans? We don't need no stinkin' fans in Florida. :lol_hitti

Is the electrical surface mounted or are you using box extensions? Also those outlet screws aren't clocked all the same.

I do see where the 5 dr drawers line up with the 3dr whereas with the 9 dr.,not so much.

Here's a plan. I'll draw up some plans for a metal bench, you get two tickets to down under and we'll get 1/2 Cup to fab a really nice bench.

Gerard

Now your pulling a "Herb Spencer" on bringing in the plants!! My left garage door end wall is usually filled with wife's potted ones and hanging baskets. Am I glad to do it? You know that answer as well as I do--LOL. Anyway come spring half of them will be dead, and the other half will be alive but making a big mess.
Looks like your into reorganization big time in there. I like the sander, and it should come in handy. Keep up the good work!!

Best Regards
Herb Spencer

Yep, Im doing a Herb Spencer. Most of plants we put in the patio but the Staghorn is a hanging plant so only place to put it is in the garage.

Yep, been playing musical cabinets and trying to get alittle more usability out of this place. That big cabinet was good but it was time to change plus I wanted all the Craftsmans boxes on the same wall. That seems like a good reason. LOL.

^ this looks really good - yes, it would look even better with another 5 drawer cabinet on the right.

Hey great idea Gerard - I might steal that idea one day.

Just an idea but on the bench legs you could put them on the outside of the toolboxes covering up the stiles. Of course this wouldnt work if you plan o h rolling the toolboxes out.

I read that too quickly I thought he meant the boxes not the screws. LOL I think if someone with severe OCD walked in here the would have heart issues in 5 seconds.

I've notice that most of my craftsmans I found I wasn't actively looking for. I been searching for past month everyday on CL and other places. As Wingnut theory goes "space creates vacuum".

That might work. That would help overall length of everything. There is like 10 different bench designs I could use. Here's ones I believe would work.

Floating (existing)

Individual mobile units with bench tops.

One big mobile bench with bottoms in angle iron frame with bench top.

One mobile bench on its own legs with casters.

One stationary bench on legs no casters.

My main idea is to have 2 shelves. One which is already there and extend the lower to end of wall which has the bench grinders. Everything under that I want completely mobile and moveable. A lot of decision making and pros and cons of each.

Liking where you are going with the Craftsman wall rearrange. But, I agree you must find that matching 5 drawer roller and then you know you need another 10 drawer top box to make perfect book ends!

If you don't do this you will cringe every time you walk through the garage. Call it making a healthy choice for good mental balance and presto, you have a a great reason to buy more tool chests!

Your wife may roll her eyes a that logic but you'll feel justified.:bounce:

Looks like you will be scouring Florida CL pretty hard.

Good progress, keep it up.

I was just over looking at Herbs place and realize how dirty my place is. I really need to hire a maid to clean this place. I should say a cleaning team. I need this place to be cleaned, degreased, and painted. Then, just maybe then I can remotely be in same category as Herb Spencer with how clean his place is. It's still amazes me on how clean is place really is and baffled on how he does it. [emoji482]to you Herb.

Thanks man, I'll be honest in saying they are hard to come by. I probably could have found some easier years ago but who knew the direction I was going in. I been on the GJ for about 5+ years now and I can say I don't know anybody that has made as many wholesale changes as I have or changed there place nearly as much as me.

I actually really like the layout I had on the Craftsman wall but that 9 drawer looked out of place next to my HF 44. I can't call it the "Wall of Craftsman" if not all my craftsmans cabinets aren't on the same wall. The only thing I could have done is find a cabinet to fit where the 9 drawer and 2 small carts where to replace the tall cabinet. I really looked and even thought of building a cabinet. Lista cabinets would have worked but really out of my price range. The lateral file cost nothing to swap even though not the best option for the space.

My wife came out yesterday and looked at what I was doing and yep she rolled her eyes. The MDM method is helping that this place isn't all torn up. LOL.

Since you mentioned it, paint would be a nice improvement. Gold walls with a garnet stripe would make the place pot!

Water jetted 1/4 plate triangular brackets between each box with a solid top would be a great setup. Painted as above and the 6' power strip.

Gerard

Thanks for your kind words. They are much more than I deserve as my place gets pretty messed up during projects. The best thing I ever did was stop woodworking in the garage. I either do it in my shed or outside. You will still see my big tablesaw, Chop saw, jointer and belt sander in the garage. These are rolled outside for use. I have another set of these in the shed.
What I would like to have is a big old barn with a good roof and a woodstove, and 100 amp electric service. It would be a true woodshop and I would care less how it looked inside. I would build furniture and restore antiques to sell.
Since my garage is so small, I just use it for mechanical repairs and crafts.

Thanks again for your nice comments!

Best Regards
Herb

Ok guys got a ton of work done today. Long post and many pictures warning LOL

I decided to build my shelf extension but turned into a total rebuild. Here's a good viewing of how I build my shelves. I got a 16" by 8' piece of 3/4 ply and 2 new 2x4x8. Plus I reused old wood too so pics will be easy to follow.

I helped to joint at back of 2x4 with a splicer.
7db8f8d598591a7c6bd6e779bcbaaa90.jpg

This shelf is one piece 13' 4" long. I came up with this solution to a problem. The shelf above brackets interfere with this shelf.

ecff9c63a3cff09b4ffd844bbd9da2ee.jpg

This usually makes my shelves nose down. You can usually shim it but came up with new solution. I first leveled the shelf with items I wanted.

Then I cut my under pieces I mount my brackets but this time I made them longer.

Which to my surprise worked. I did 2 more just like this. Believe it or not I got shelf loaded with stuff and no brackets 6e2759e49af8908ae09f61d73b359b93.jpgd71570b87f723dc346187ed4b617d74f.jpg

I still havnt made a decision on bench yet. Depends of many factors like electrical and other cabinets I find. I will just figure it out. It's beer time [emoji482]

God bless my wife dealing with me for all these years. 15 years having a place with a garage and 15 years of remodels. LOL. That's why been using the MDM to keep the peace. LOL

I was just wondering how much time and beer it takes you to sit there and think all this up:D. I know I've spent hours out in my shop doing beer fuel mind engineering.

I agree, it needs a coat of paint. No time like the present.

Hmmmm, not sure but usually starts with me saying "what if I ...." LOL usually beer isn't involved either.

See your shop is huge and you got room to put things. Ok you need to rearrange some things but still got big area to work with. I can only wish for that space.

Wait, what did I read earlier? You're a Notre Dame fan? Same here and have been for years while living in Michigan and very close to Ann Arbor I catch a lot of grief. GO IRISH!

The redesign of the Craftsman wall is look ing good and full of interesting changes. Looking forward to the final result. And yes, you should paint is fresh. Not for us GJ folks but do it and I'm sure you'll impress the wife and she will stop rolling the eyes and be glad you did another remodel.

I can't tell you when I became a ND fan but it was somewhere in my earlier teens. I enjoy watching college football better than the pros but don't follow football as much as others. I watch the game when I can.

Not sure if paint will impress her or not. Actually, the entire garage walls, ceilings, and epoxy floor was done in 2009 2010 ish. All the yellow marks is clauk where filled all the holes from old furring strips from when I redid that wall the last time. LOL.

To be totally honest... Wife rolling her eyes is basically my fault. I spend more time working on garage than rest of house. I repainted the Master bedroom few months ago.... Maybe it was a year ago??? Anyway I stopped where Master bedroom meet the Master bath. I told her I get around to it another day but I still havnt repainted the bath yet. It's not that it's bad cause I painted the whole room 2 years ago. I got couple of jobs that are on the honey do list but how many garage remodels have I done and still not got those off list. LOL. I lost count.

I had to laugh about your painting the master bedroom story. The last house we owned it took me 5.5 years to paint the whole house. The only reason I finished was because we were selling it. This one I started before we moved in and it took me right at a year to finish.

Lol. Isn't that usually the way. The house gets fixed and painted right before we sell it.

GJ rule #12. Just because someone can't see it doesn't mean you do it half-***. :scared:

You guys need to learn the cbacres way. My wife does all the painting, as she thinks I don't do as good as her, she mows the property too. Now, if I could get her to give a **** about the inside of my shop, I know she would have it in shape too.:lol_hitti.

LOL, wife been banned from painting. I let wife and son paint my sons room. Worst mistake ever. Dark gray paint on ceiling, base and door trim. I told them I'm not fixing it or are you guys allow to paint anything. My wife mows the lawn by I do all the edging and trimming.

I saw this on CL last night LOL.
