Re: Attention GJers-Check your Photobucket accounts

Photobucket sent me an email a while back. They said for $99 a year they would restore my images and I could post again. Well, **** em!! They should have tried that in the past. I hope they go broke and end up living in their parents basements.

I tend to agree. Day late and a dollar short.

I thought it was said (on here) that offer didn't not apply to 3rd party hosting, which is what probably 80% of us here used if for.

Like you, had that been their initial offer, I would have likely accepted, but now...f*ck 'em.

Well, Well, Well...

Today I got an Email saying:

1/ Photobucket is under new management.
2/ All Images and 3rd party hosting is restored...
3/ $1.99 / month or $19.99/yearly rates.

And so on...
Anyone else get this?

Seems legit.

I just disabled the "fix" tools and checked some of my posts and the pics show up again.

Thanks for the heads up.

I deleted my account, so I guess it doesn't help me. I'm never going there again.

Are they going to give a refund to the few people that forked over the $400.00?

When you think of the millions of hours folks have spent on work arounds, moving photo's and recreating albums... I can't see how anybody in good faith can still be using Photobucket. :headscrat

I started to download all my stuff for a move but got busy/lazy and never finished. LOL

Then the hot link fixes got announced and I said screw em. I still use em for free that way.

Well that's interesting and good news. Sounds like someone with some sense took over PB. Although they may have burned so many bridges now people may not trust them. Thanks for the heads up on this news.

Are you absolutely sure that it's a legitimate email? This situation is ripe for scammers to take advantage of unsuspecting "customers"

Re: PhotoBucket issues,problems and solutions

Paid with PayPal.
Merchant ID was correct, and got an email from Photobucket after.

All my thread pics appear to be restored, and I’m Add free when I checked my Photobucket.
I will post the contents of the receipt later.

No email, but even if I got one, I would never trust them. I can see the new tactic would be entice people back and bend them over in another couple years.

Re: PhotoBucket issues,problems and solutions

Seems legit unless they go under next week, in which case I’m out a $20.
I understand the sceptasism, I am too.
Just figured it was worth a shot for under a buck a month to have my pics restored to my threads.
When I tried to look on Photobucket, directly, the pricing was the same as before too.
I cannot see it on my phone, but I had to log out of my Photobucket account before it triggered the new update and I did notice a button that said new pricing or plans up top when I logged in again.
I have posted the Photobucket Customer service email that they sent me, so people can contact them if they want.
Maybe anyone who doesn’t have the PB unblocker script smack check my older threads to see if they restored?

Re: Attention GJers-Check your Photobucket accounts

I haven't been having trouble with PB but I basically only use for pics that I post to forums so I don't have many on PB. Easy to use for me.

Hoping someone has some insight on how to fix the photos in this thread: https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=243577

Photobucket has blurred them because I'm exceeding the "bandwidth" allowance of my free account. I've been able to download the originals from photobucket, and have them on my hard drive and uploaded to google drive, as well. The post has 19 pictures linked - if I upload to the forum, I'm limited to seven/post. That means another post - but the other post will not follow the original immediately, it will appear at the end of the thread, destroying the continuity of the original post. I haven't been able to link them from google drive, seems they won't give a link with a .jpg URL, just an aliased link. Other than using another image storage platform, any solutions?

Go to the Albums section in your user profile, create a new photo album and upload then there, then you can use the embed code to put as many as you like in the original posts.

Can someone tell me why I get a message saying "this image is not available " when I try to view photos in a message? It's frustrating to read good messages then not be able to see what is being discussed. I don't have a photo bucket account but I used to be able to view the posted photos.

I know...
Photobucket suffered some mass outage last week... Lots of BS talk and little improvement to the service.
Its frustrating to think that when it was free it was great, and now, you pay and it *****!

If it's a Photobucket (PB) link, well they broke the internet, screwed thousands of members and many more websites.

I was hoping to hear that there might be a solution. I used to look at the progress on the 55 wagon and followed for a couple of years. Now I can't see the photos. This is the case even with photos posted as recently as last week. Are members still using photo bucket knowing that people can't view the pics? By the way, jpg photos are still viewable.

Just make three or however many necessary posts in a row quickly, with a couple of words each, to reserve the order. Then go back and edit each one with the linked photos.
