Busy week. We finally got the e9 front suspension back together and its back on its wheels.

I also cleaned the 02 up from the Vintage trip and snapped some pics. I tried a new editing style, I think they turned out ok.

Sunday I spent the day being lazy, watching racing, and making a brisket flat.

Yesterday, I went over to my parents place to clean the J-10 up. It needed better pics for the for sale ad. I was missing my detailing set up, I am spoiled.

But it cleaned up alright.

I guess the pics worked. I posted them on a local Jeep facebook group and we have someone coming today to look at it. Ill miss it but the E9 is going to be worth it.

Made some progress on the e9 recently. Removed the exhaust and driveshaft.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

Out came the shifter.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

I believe this is the source of the speedo issues. If you watched the video I posted earlier it was doing "90" in a 20, haha.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

And out came the trans.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

Up next..... clutch removal.

I love having a lift... haha.

Nice!!
What's the plan? Get it running at first, or full on restoration from the get-go?

Your car was amazing. One of my favorite ones there.

Cool! Keep us posted!!

With those 3 cars, he parked right in my heart :lol_hitti:lol_hitti:lol_hitti

Right? Brave though parking an e36 above a 911. I would be worried the coolant system would explode or the glove box would fall out on to the 911. :lol_hitti

Speaking of e36 M3's, I think mine is jealous of the attention the 02 and e9 are getting. I drove it to work today and the CEL popped on, Ill have to scan it when I get home.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

I also stopped by my dads last night and pulled the clutch off the e9.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

This is a little further than I thought we were going to go. :lol_hitti

The clutch and other parts should be here Monday.

I see this car getting the full "Home Built by Jeff" treatment. It sures deserves it!

(If you don't know his channel, do have a look. Absolute DIY channel, with an on going 911 restomod, a Beetle and a 240Z already finished, and an Alfa 105 just staring. On top of that, Jeff is an all around great guy, and a treat to watch).

Oh! That J10 is ****! I had a neighbor who had one when I was growing up and I always thought it was so cool. How is the sale going?

Lots of tire kickers.. :lol_hitti

Since the M3 was obviously jealous and threw an emissions code(I'm guessing the fuel cap) I spent a little time with it this weekend. I gave it a wash and cleaned out the interior and then took it on a little cruise last evening. It seemed to be happy after that. I even snapped a few pics.

I keep talking about selling but when its clean and running right its such a nice car. I think I would end up missing it a lot if I let it go.

It's those Thornbirds! Some factory steel wheels and less wide tires tucked properly under the fenders and you'd have a real looker

We had it for sale like this for a while. No bites so we put the Thornbirds back on.

In E9 news, my dad sent a video of him removing the old noise pilot bearing. :lol_hitti

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

That might be why it was so loud...... I hope it didnt hurt anything, I doubt it was on long. The correct bearing is on the right..

It's been proven, cars drive WAY better when they're clean. You can't get rid of this car...it's soooo clean!

Great photos, man! And love the steering wheel. I have similar stitching on my Coby wheel.

That building looks familiar, my wife work out of the commercial house right in front of it :D

Car looks amazing. Do you wear gloves when driving with that suede wheel or do you just have the worlds cleanest hands?

Haha yep, the old Caldwell tanks building. And the wheel really doesnt get too dirty. I just wipe it down with a damp microfiber every now and then.

So a few weeks ago my dad and I were riding to pick up some parts in my Grand Cherokee, that I bought from him, and he mentioned how much he missed it. Its a great vehicle and honestly one of the nicest cars I have ever owned but its kinda boring, and I couldn't really do anything to personalize it. My wife also has a Tahoe and we really don't need two SUV's. My dad and I came to an agreement and he purchased the Jeep back from me. I started my hunt for a new daily driver and found the perfect car over in Spartanburg SC. I drove up Saturday to pick it up.

Its a 2007 Bmw 328I Touring, with the sport package and no nav and only 70k miles.

When I left the dealer I noticed the staggered wheels were in the incorrect places, the backs were on the front and fronts were on the back, so I pulled it into the garage and swapped them out. Its fitting in great...

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

Of course, I had to clean the wheels while they were off.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

Saturday night, I was worn out from driving all day and swapping those wheels around in 90 degree temps so I didn't wash the car. I cracked open a few cold ones and invited some buddies over to watch LeMans. This is where I woke up at about 4:15 in the morning, with my buddy asleep in the chair next to me. We arent kids anymore, but I am thankful my wife understands my love of racing.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

Sunday morning I tried to sleep in but I was excited about the car and got up to wash it before it got too hot and I lost my shade.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

Gave it a good wash, clayed and sealed the glass, and topped the car with beadmaker. It needs a full correction and interior detail but its going to look great when its done.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

As you can see the paint looks pretty good with just beadmaker, I cant wait to dial it in.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

When my wife went on her normal Sunday grocery run, I offered to drive just to take this photo. What good is a grocery getter if you haven't gotten groceries in it?

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

I cant wait to start modding this car. I have some stuff already on order, and I am working with my paint guy to paint the front bumper so I can remove the plate holder. Other than that I want to swap the wheels, upgrade the sound system, hard wire a radar detector, and swap in a e9x steering wheel. This thing is going to be a lot of fun.

So the glass opens up independent of the entire hatch? That perspective of this picture makes it look like a deep sedan trunk opening (flat) vs a sloping rear. What steering wheel does it have if it doesn't already have an E9x wheel. Congrats. Paint is already looking better than my 2013 E92. I need to get some paint correction done.

Yea the glass and the hatch both open. One of the coolest features is when you open the glass the cargo cover slides up out of the way. Check out the video.

It has the factory sport wheel, its not bad but I want alcantara. I'll try to get a picture of the factory wheel later.

I am absolutely loving it!! I cleaned the interior last night, and I used my steamer for the time on an interior. It was great on the carpets, just steam and rub with a microfiber. It was amazing how much dirt was on the towel after just a couple of quick puffs, and it dried quickly.

Before..

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

Steam blast.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

And after. I should have photographed one of the mats in worse shape but you can still see a difference.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

I also did a few puffs of steam through the vents which helped remove the odd smell in the car. After that cleaned it all, scrubbed the leather and conditioned it, and hit all the "wood trim" and hard surfaces with Beadmaker.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

There are some bad spots on the front seats that I will eventually have fixed but for now its clean and smelling better.

What steamer are you using?

Its a McCulloch mc1375.

How much would you sell the E36 for if you ever let it go?

It would be pretty high since I really don't want to sell it. I had tossed the idea around, of selling it and getting a newer m3 or 911 to daily but now that I have the wagon its staying.

I did get my "nav" system in the wagon halfway set up last night. Back when I worked at the dealership in Nashville, we would get older high line cars in and I always thought the old, out dated nav systems looked horrible. An early e38/39 nav screen for instance is an awful little 4" screen. I specifically looked for non-nav e91's so I wouldn't have to change or deal with an outdated nav screen. I also didn't want to deal with iDrive if it ever failed. My plan was always to mount my phone and use it for nav. I picked up this magnetic mount that clips to the vent, it also has wireless charging built in, so that eliminates running a lighting cable.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

The plan is to run the wire through the AC vent into the glove box. I will do that when the other part, a flashlight charger port to cig lighter converter, shows up. That will give it a clean look and I hope there wont be any wires showing. I also have a nicer bluetooth to Aux receiver coming. I have a cheapo one now that works ok but I have to connect my phone to it every time, this one will remember my phone and connect every time.

I have plans to do the same wireless charging setup with my E46. My only worry is that the wireless charger won't be able to charge it fast enough when it's being used for nav/music. I'm curious to hear your thoughts after living with it for a while.

Might be interested if you ever sell. Been searching for a unicorn Estoril Blue coupe since the beginning of the year. All too expensive with like 50k miles. Waiting to find the right one :)

So far its been pretty good. When I left work last night I was at 40% and after my 30 minute drive I was up to 70% while streaming music. That being said I haven't tried nav yet, I might on the way home tonight.

They are getting insane. They are awesome cars but I don't know if they are worth what they are going for on BaT. If I do ever sell it, you are like 45 on the list, I have a friend that was supposed to look at the night after I bought it and has never let that go.

I spend the last half of my work day yesterday look at wheels for the wagon and wow, they are pricey. I love the car but I really don't care for the wheels that are on it. I'm either going to end up with 19" ZCP reps(I know reps **** but the factory ZCP offsets wont work) or something else in an 18. In the mean time, I wanted to see what a spacer would look like on the rear. As you can see the factory rears are sunk pretty far.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

So I borrowed one of the spacers from the front of the m3.... and it was awesome.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

Yeah, I guess Im going to have to order some spacers.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

I think a set of 15 rears and maybe a 5 in the front would be perfect, this also tells me that I can fit some meat on this car. Now I'm leaning towards 19x9 in the front and 19x10 in the rear.

Stick with 18s to maintain ride quality. If you're looking for something ZCP like, the Apex ARC-8 wheels come in 18s and are lightweight and have a similar spoke pattern the recessed lug area is the main design difference. Don't know if they have the offset for the wagon.

The style 162’s (Sport wheels) would look fantastic on your wagon. Probably need spacers if you went that route.

I have been looking at their wheels too but I love the look of the 19" zcp wheels.

I'm not sure what route I am going but the spacers will help hold me over for a while.

Yeah they are the same spec as the 161's on the car now, except they are 18". They do look sick and I have already ordered the spacer so if I find a set I may pick them up.

What suspension and spacers, that is the exact stance I am looking for.

BC Racing Coilovers/15mm Macht Schnell spacers up front/20mm Renn Motorsports spacers in the rear.

That suspension was dialed in perfectly. Still regret letting that car go. Dammit!
