I have been less and less active on forums and social media in general so I'm on the fence about making a thread for the new place. I probably will but the garage is going to be simple and slow to get off the ground. But here are a few teasers should I make a new thread.

Beautiful house. I hope you keep posting as reading about your progress and fun stuff helps keep me motivated to make progress on my stuff, even if I find my own stuff not nearly interesting enough to post about. Good luck with the new place.

Nick, I completely understand. Your posts over the past decade and nearly 600,000 visits to your thread mean a lot to many of us. The current thread won't go away so you can let us know how things are going whenever you have a free moment.

Still working on packing up, the movers are showing up tomorrow. Sadly I dismantled the wash bay today. I had been putting it off but it was time.....

I also finally packed up some of the garage. Its strange to think that this time tomorrow it will be empty.

I ready through some of the recent posts and I'm leaning towards keeping this thread going but we will see. More pics tomorrow.

Congrats on the new place! I know moving is a total bummer especially with all the memories of fixing up your old place and your family starting there but you're going to be happy in about a year when things finally settle. Sounds like you're closer to your dad's shop now too which should be a huge plus.

As far as updates go; life gets in the way but being there with little ones and loved one as much as possible is more important that posting updates for strangers on the internet. Just do what makes the most sense for you. I'm assuming you're out on Roscoe area which is super close to me, if you need a hand getting the garage set up please lmk I'd be happy to bring over a 6 pack (with a few heaters) and help. Watching your thread I feel like I know you but we've never actually met irl :ROFLMAO:

CHAPTER 2. The Bimmer Garage Verson 2.0 (house and basement build out as well)

The title may be a bit wordy but here we go. On Jan 11 we closed on both houses and we were out of the old house on the 17th. My father in law and I started moving things in and working on the house the night of the 11th. The first thing my wife and I wanted to address was paint.

The previous owners were fans of bold colors and accent walls... they were not fans of painters tape or 2nd and 3rd coats. The dining room was horrible with the walls and ceiling painted GREEEEEEN! With the painters scheduled for the next day, my FIL and I put up some crown molding that first night.

The next morning the painters showed up and painted that ceiling white. The rest of the room will be wall papered.

They also took care of this wall that was badly painted black by the previous owners.

We picked a less GREEEEEEN! green for the master bedroom and bathroom cabinets(I have already scratched one.....)

I also set up my coffee station, which was necessary for the all the projects to come.

We have been in the house about a week at this point. I have done a few little projects and my wife has decorated, its starting to feel more like home. I will get some pics and update the thread when the all the boxes are cut down and its more presentable. As for the garage, its currently a catch all for stuff we dont want in the house or the basement, but I am hoping to get it set up enough to park two cars in it over the weekend so stay tuned.

Thanks for encouraging me to keep this thread going, I appreciate you all.

Glad to see you continuing the thread. I am sure things are crazy right now.

Wow, that is some green they had going on there and not in a good way at all.

I like the blue color you chose for the accent wall. What color is it if you happen to remember?

I am hoping to have it "set up" this week good enough to work on a few projects and clean some cars.

On a side note, Saturday I took the 02 to our local cars and coffee. The route from the new house to the meet up is amazing. 30-40 minutes of twisty back roads. I was loving it and pushing the 02 in and out of the turns. It was a great way to clear my head and de-stress, I was in a great mood. I got home, left the car outside so that I could work on the garage for a bit. A couple of hours later I went to pull the 02 in the garage and the transmission was loud.... Its always had a little grumble but this is getting bad. I am on the hunt for a 5 speed now.

Still have the BMW Wagon? If you ever feel like selling it lmk. My DD is a Honda Fit and while it does a great job it is a stark change from our Lexus GX460. I need a hatch/station wagon/SUV as we have two yellow labs and I like transporting my mtn bike in the car, but there isn't much out there for used wagons. I also know the dependability of a BMW is likely very reliant on how the previous owners maintained it! haha

Congrats on the new and amazing house! Can't wait to see what you do with the place. The 2002 fits so nicely!
Also, the Wagoneer is the goods....old family friend had one that we took to the lake. Good memories.

I don't have a ton of updates sadly. Waiting on quotes for the basement, and I just havent had a ton of free time to work on the garage. I am hoping to work on that a little this week. I did finally get around to washing my car for the first time at the new house and I really miss the washbay.... like a lot.... But the kiddos decided they wanted to help me out which was kinda fun.

I am starting to have some issues with this old thing as the miles climb but I cant think of anything in my budget that would be a better replacement. Maybe something electric?

More updates to come soon.

Still a great looking wagon. The the issues big ticket expensive items or just minor annoyances?
Constant CEL after replacing the starter. I am assuming that I left something unhooked when I replaced the starter, or one of the DISA valves failed(they were both replaced when I did the starter.) I just havent had time to dig into that. Also an oil leak and the headliner is starting to sag. Front clip could use a repaint as well. Its just a matter of everything else being "broken" as well so having something electric with zero maintenance sounds appealing.

I see your possibly thinking electric. I'm Driving a 2015 Tesla Model S 70D... for the money not much can touch it. But the Risk of Battery Failure is always in the back of the mind. Maybe drive one and see if it appeals?

Nice, catching up on your thread now that I have the time.

First of all, LOVE the Doxa. I'm a huge Clive Cussler nut and have owned a couple of 1200T Sharkhunters but sold them. Always meant to get the 1200T Pro but just haven't been able to locate the one yet. Love the design and style of them, as well as the history they carry. Absolutely gorgeous.

Sad to see the old house go but the new house looks exceptional and there's something to be said for the blank slate of possibilities. Can't wait to see what you do with everything.

Not a car or house project but this was a fun little micro project. My wife went to an estate sale Friday and found a vintage 60's JB Champion style watch bracelet. These were famously worn on speedmasters by astronauts.

Here is the Apollo 8 crew rocking them.

I noticed it was a little grungy so I tossed it in the ultrasonic cleaner with some warm water and dawn.

So much wrist cheese.

I had to adjust the spring loaded end links a little but over all its a decent fit. I might end up selling it but for now I will wear it occasionally.

Sunday we went an picked up a new dining room table. My wife met with a wall paper lady so hopefully that is going to get done soon.

And I ended the weekend by finally getting the bge back together and cooking a little dinner. This view is worth the pain of moving.

I have been slacking on everything else lately. The kiddos were a little sick last week so bedtimes were getting pushed back pretty late. I am hoping to get some more cleaning and organizing done in the garage this week.

Some actual house updates.. my wife wanted built ins on either side of the fire place. I am fairly handy but not very good at wood working so thankfully she found this "hack" for the Ikea billy bookcases. So after a month or so of waiting all the stuff from Ikea came in, and last night I put the base cabinets together.

My father in law put some bases together and installed them today.

We still have some trim to put up, and then I can install a top for the base cabinets. After that I will get the shelves built and installed. It will look kinda like this when its done.
