I almost forgot. I got my new license plate frame the other day.

I would have loved a real vintage one but they sell for around $200 and I would rather spend money on stuff like this.

Over the next couple of months, I am going to collect the parts needed to put twin weber 40dcoe's on the 02. I think it will wake it up a bit.

What cam do you have in it? Work ok with the 40s?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Stock cam for now. It will work fine with it, but I do need to upgrade the fuel supply. I'm either going with a mechanical pump from a Bavaria or an electric facet pump, Im still doing my research. Speaking of.... Im going to need to clean the carb to match the manifolds.

I also put the finishing touches on the most recent TV bar.

Oh and the special feature on this one...

I think it was intended to be for a record player. It also still has the original instructions and warranty card. Its a very cool piece.

And I finished the night drinking some bourbon ginger and watching the Netflix Formula 1 show since my wife had her friends over for the Bachelor.

Wow, after a long hiatus from the forum, I checked in and immediately was mesmerized by your garage buildout. Wow! You definitely are in inspiration to a fellow basement garage owner! Thank you so much for sharing your talents in such detail. I am in awe!

Love the Kozies...do they have a round tail light on the back side?

I've never owned a round tail light BMW...my '66 1800ti was rectangular...

BTW, the best improvement to the 1800ti was a change from the dual solex to the Webers. Set 'em and forget 'em. They worked great. When I replaced the 1800 engine with a 2000, it was a simple re-jet.

So the natural color of the Webers are as they are...they look authentic.

Cheers!

Are you going over to the MidAmerica 02 fest at the end of the month in Arkansas? About 6 buddies are heading over from Houston for the event. Probably a little further than Spartanburg.

That was an excellent hour or so spent reading this entire thread. You've done a good job Nick!! I stumbled on your thread looking for pics/inspiration for how to do a TV and a computer over a workbench. I'm shocked that more people don't have computers in their garages/shops!

I'm a long way out from having a car to take to a show.

edit: I found this thread looking for bmw themed tv+computer over workbench in garage. Where is your computer with INPA, EDIABAS (and Rom Raider) on it?

Pm sent.

Mpower5266,
I PM'd you a few days ago. Did you happen to see it?
Mike

I responded. I have been working an airshow since March 28th.

I actually don't have a computer in my garage, just a fire stick. I am thinking about adding a Byte Plus mini PC but I really don't need it right away.

Before I left on my work trip I noticed the 02 was having some electrical issues. I have a group drive planned on Saturday so I need to drop it off with my dad to trouble shoot since I would only have 3 days between the trip and the drive. He pulled the terminals and cleaned them, but it was still having an issue so he also removed the battery. It was dated 2006 so we decided to replace it. The correct battery for the car was actually a little smaller so we had to make a new hold down. The new one is on top in the photo.

He then test fitted it.

And then painted it.

Then my wife and I took it for a dusk cruise last night to test it out. Its nice having bright lights again and it ran great. Just need to check all the fluids and give it a wash before the drive Saturday.

I would highly recommend one. I have actually been tempted to put the m3 up for sale and pick up another 02. Something modded maybe even engine swapped.
I'd never do that, I love E36s too much. I think you're missing an E30 between the E36 and the 02 :lol_hitti
Although... Who wouldn't like an S14B23 swapped 02? :lol_hitti

Sad part is an S14 these days is in the realm of 10-20K just for the engine. Factory support is pathetic at best these days. Nothing wrong with a modern Snail slung to an M10 engine to make a OBRUT. The 02 Turbo's were cool but lag was nuts.

Big weekend for the 02. My wife and I took it on a BMWCCA group drive where it held its own against some much newer and quicker cars. There were a few times we hit triple digits on the highway and then some slower but much more technical runs down some back roads. We ended the drive at a Vineyard, where it looked right at home.

We left the vineyard and drove up to Helen GA for the night. Speaking of looking right at home the 02 looked perfect in the "alpine town." My wife was nice enough to snap a few pics while I drove by.

It was a nice relaxing day/night after working 20 days straight. That relaxation was ended Sunday morning driving home in some awful storms. We basically spent 3 hours doing 40mph in the slow lane. It was rough going, my wife took a video of some of really bad weather.

All and all the 02 did well and I think its ready to make the drive to The Vintage in May. I think I am having some alternator issues but I am going to probably put one in before the trip.

Great shots!! Car looks fantastic and so cool to see that it had no problem keeping up with the newer vehicles.

If you have a laptop you normally use, a simple docking station with a wireless keyboard with trackpad would would probably be ideal.
