e46 wagon would take the place of the 325ix as a daily driver. The e30 has over 200k on it and since it'll soon have some of the bigger maintenance items taken care of, it might be a good time to sell it.

The dash and headliner are looking good. Keep going!

I cant wait to see what you do with the wagon. We are going to keep plugging away wat the E9, I am hoping to have the interior back together by Christmas. Then the body work and paint saga begin. We are supposed to drive it to The Vintage in NC next May.

Another bonus headliner shot. Apparently we are doing it wrong because the "glass NEEDS TO BE REMOVED!!!!!!!" per some E9 experts but they said the same thing about the dash. :lol_hitti

E90M3 is a great car and an excellent value today. I have had mine for 8 of its 11 years and 70k of its 100k miles. MPG is not good but it’s not meant to be an economy car. I drive mine year round including winter.

I might start looking at them again if I sell the e36 or get bored with the wagon. I had plans to build a carport that doubled as a wash bay over the spring and summer but I keep buying cars and mods. I am going to try to not buy anything over the winter and save some money back up. :lol_hitti

Speaking of the e36.... I got a package for it last night.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

I installed the EWS and ECU and the car fired right up and idled perfectly..... Knock on wood but I think its fixed. I decided to order 4 more coil packs so they will all be new and I can keep the old ones as spares. They should be in today, so Ill put it all back together tonight and drive it a little. I hope its fixed and I should know by this weekend. I am leaning towards driving the M3 up to the Bmw CCA Oktoberfest next month but the wagon is so much more comfortable. I think its going to come down to a coin flip.

I've been off of GJ for a very long time.

The house/shop expansion turned out very well!

Keep up with the BMW updates - I like the mods on the wagon!

Welcome back and thank you.

I just love the way a white car looks when its clean, and I do think most BMWs look better in white. The wash bay is on hold, I keep buying other things and cars. Then those cars break or I mod them. I hope to save some cash up this winter for the slab. I think my dad, father in law, and I could build the bay itself.

Speaking of cars breaking.... I put the M3 back together and drove it to work this morning.... So far no issues.

So I attempted to repair some small bad spots in the wagon seats. After seeing a video on Obsessed Garage the Colourlock system interested me so I ordered it.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

It a well put together kit, and I had high hopes for it. The cleaner and brush work great.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

Here are the spots I wanted to fix.

And the reason I said "attempted" to fix. The product honestly covered well and fixed the issue but after several emails back and forth and giving them my interior color code, this color was their "close enough" match.

I have been in contact with them and I can send them a small piece of leather or a headrest or something and they will mix the correct color for me but they are in England and that will take a few weeks. I honestly feel like they should have suggested that initially when I sent photos and the color code, so I have asked for a refund. I think its actually a great product but I will never be okay with this quality of repair.

In other news I drove the M3 to work today and this happened.

Im actually a little sad about it.

Hope it was a simple leather mix up and they send the right formula. When you get tired of the E91 send it noth lol.

I was off GJ for quite a while as well. You certainly have come a long way and super envious! Another life long BMW guy here, currently with an E70 x5d, an e46 325xi, and a somewhat totaled but driveable E39 528 touring with a 5 speed. Got hit in the rear door by a FedEx truck a year ago and still debating if I should resurrect it. It's 1 of 27 made in Anthracite and I swapped a full black interior in with M5 front seats and dash.

Awesome. I really wanted an e39 but I couldn't find a clean one. I have been really happy with the e91 though. I hope you get your e39 fixed, they are amazing cars.

E39's were great cars. Just the right size, great styling and the 540i was great, and the M5 was mental. I miss ours. I miss most of the BMWs that have passed through our hands over the year. Only one we still have today is the E36.

Except for the Z4, I'd willingly let go of a kidney and a lung for the other three. :bounce: E39 M5 DD, E30 M3 weekend warrion, and E36 M3 track toy :lol_hitti:beer:

Yep. That was a M Coupe. Great track car. Started out as my weekend car and the M5 was my daily. The E36 M3 was my g/f car and the E30 M3 was hers as well. When we got married, she started driving the M5 more (loved the power and heated seats). That put me in the M Coupe daily which wasn't as fun, so ended up selling and during Euro Delivery on my current E92 M3. Much happier with it for daily use and big track events. M Coupe was much better at autox events. M5 and E30 have subsequently gone away as well. E30 needed a lot of work. Call me strange but I wasn't a fan of the driving experience of the E30 (or maybe it was just ours).

Don't tell anyone..... I feel like this is a safe place to say this because it isn't a BMW forum...... I really don't like e30's....

I will own one again at some point just because it fits into the collection but I think e30 M3's are over rated. I would snap up a clean 325is but I would probably just let it sit.

My garage was very German last night. I cleaned the E9 door panels in my garage full of BMW's and BMW memorabilia, while hanging with my dog Hofmeister and drinking a Hofbrau. Anyway... pics.

My dad has also been busy. I think the cluster bezel is done, not sure how many tries we are on now.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

After cleaning the panels I finally got around to hanging up the birthday gift from my in laws. They antique as much or maybe more than my wife and do, and they know I love Gulf stuff so they found this chippy pump face. Yes my wife not only let me hang it in the living room but wouldnt let me put it in the garage.

Blasphemy... I love mine. Z4M as you mentioned is a phenomenal driver's car! Would sell one of my M cars for a Z4M or Z3M coupe with an S54.

I said this out loud at a CCA meet yesterday and I thought I was going to tarred and feathered. I guess I need to try an E30 again. :lol_hitti

I love the E30 since the day I fist saw it on a magazine. It was love at first sight.
I've driven a couple of them, and I proved the "never meet your heroes" wrong (at least for me!). I just love the feel, the seating position.

The first time I drove the "mini M3" or the "Italian M3" (S14B20), the 320is, was the day I knew my life was doomed.

It sure is underpowered, and maybe over rated. But it ticks all the right boxes for me.

Impressed with all the projects you take on, well done. Also just caught Moreman's episode with the guys from Colourlock, very cool to see your documentation of the process as well.

Yeah.....still not sure about them. They shipped a replacement pigment thats supposed to be correct, and I received the package Friday. But the pigment was not in the box, they sent 16 tubes of their leather and plastic filler..

They are sending the pigment again, but Im not expecting it to be right after this. :lol_hitti

lol. Errors twice?? That doesn't raise the confidence bar at all. Sorry about that.

Yea....... I am almost hoping the next order is wrong so I can get my money back. They asked me to send the incorrect parts back.... I asked for a shipping label and I haven't heard back from them. I think they were expecting me to pay for international shipping to fix their mistake.

Man that ***** you're having to go through that with ColourLock. My experiences with them have been the complete opposite and I wish everyone could experience the products the way I have. Disappointing to say the least.

I've re-dyed BMW interiors in sand beige, light silver grey, estoril blue (they actually did a custom mixture for me then added it to their site) and black. Not once have I had an issue with mismatching colors. Same story with the filler and glue products - love the entire line.

I've been recommending their products for quite a while. This has me rethinking that.

I should find out in the next few days. I want them to work out, it seems like it could potentially be a great product.

Look forward to more E9 updates.

Lucky for you, I have one today. Haha

Up next was replacement of these small strips on the door.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

My dad stopped by the interior shop down the street. The owner is becoming a good friend and pulled some material off the roll, ran it through the sewing machine and gave it to my dad.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

It worked out great.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

And of course the often over looked vapor seal. The backs of the door card were pretty moldy and water had gotten in at some point, which is typical of anything of this vintage.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

After that was the marriage of the wood and trim.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

And a little test of how it will look with the door card. Needless to say, I am stoked.

The temps in Georgia finally dropped from "surface of the sun" to 60's in the morning and mid 80's in the afternoon, so I took advantage of the cooler temps and washed the wagon Sunday morning. I actually had to crank up the hot water for my wash and rinse bucket.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

I had a busy weekend so I didn't work on the E9, but my dad got some work done. When we removed the carpet from the passenger side, we found this foam form in the footwell. It was in bad shape and of course its NLA so it needed repair.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

I grabbed some fiberglass cloth from work, and he laid it up. He also painted it, not sure why but its fixed.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

He also starting putting the door cards back together. The wood came out so nice.

Untitled by Nick Wood, on Flickr

He also started on the gauges. The bezel came out so nice, it was worth doing 5 times. Haha

Third time is the charm. Colourlock finally got the correct color to me.

Here is the before.

Driver seat wear.

The first attempt with the wrong color, just to save everyone from scrolling back a page.

And the results after stripping the old color and applying the new color last night. Much better.

Saw it this morning on your IG. I believe they redeemed themselves. I don't know how good it looks in person, but through pictures at least, it looks amazing! I never expected it to look so good, I honestly can't tell the difference!

Right now, in a well lit garage you can tell if you know they have been done. You would have to be inspecting the seat specifically to tell. I'm happy with it.
