I think for $100 I'd take the chance. Mine is loaded down but pretty still; the handles seem stout. Granted, you're filling in the densest possible manner, but I doubt you'll grenade a handle. I could see a clamp failing if you pick up by the top.

Thanks. It's weird, I see lots of reviews on Dewalt's site & on Amazon with pics showing the side handles breaking & cracking the side of the box. When I went to look at them again in person after seeing this I could see how & why they would break. Not much support. But I couldn't find anyone on here with the same experience. Maybe they overloaded them I don't know, many claim they weren't but of course who knows.

I think I'm just gonna disable them by fastening them down to the sides so they can't be pulled out. Will still give me some grip to be able to pick up the box if needed. Mainly just in case if someone other than me tries to pick one up. I don't really care about using the side handles, just don't want them cracking the sides of the box.

They won't ever get transported, just for storage & will only get moved around in my garage every so often.

Thanks FF. Yep, BF deal is what i'm waiting for even though I don't need the small box. I went & looked at them again a few days ago. I really like the build quality of the Ridgid but the Dewalt configuration makes more sense for what I need. Gonna take my chances with the Dewalt. I'm just gonna disable the side handles so they can't be used by accident.
I have the Ridgid stack for work and it's completely loaded down without issue. I also have the Toughstack and I do not like the release for the handle as well as the latching system. For someone using them every day like myself I'd pick th Ridgid all day

Thanks.

I do like the Ridgid/Kester much more, I think it's a better built system. Only thing that is holding me back from getting it is the bottom roller box. Has wasted space inside because of the wheel placement, no pull out tray, & the lid is not attached to the box. The wasted space I can live with but I need the pull out tray. I thought about just building some sort of support to add my own tray.

Yeah I don't like the latching system on the Dewalt & I hate the pull out handle overall.

Well, I still got time till BF to make my decision .

Man, these compact 3.0 batteries are starting to grow on me. Don't like the fat size on tools but they fit perfect in the jackets to give 50% more runtime. Plus, they make for a stable base. I've sent a few upright tools down a level or two...might be helpful.

Still prefer a streamlined 2.0 though in drill/impact. :dunno:

1) where/what is that store?

2) is that a bigger bar on the chainsaw?

I recently bought the 18/20/120 volt 2 gallon shop vac fully expecting it to be of limited use, except touching up carpets in the car.
The last few days, I have given it quite a work out, while doing some work around the house.
I have to admit, with the 20 volt battery it is quite impressive. Two thumbs up

I love mine. Now they just need a bigger one running flexvolt.

The new one I have does 18 or 20v. So probably the same as the old one more or less.

I've got the same one...pretty damn handy. Would have been nice if it had come with a dusting attachment of some sort (soft bristle brush) and a 2-3 foot solid extension, but those can be added separately.

DEWALT 173-piece Polished Chrome Tool Set
Costco online, $80 (+ tax) shipped through 11/21.
I think I saw them in the store last week too
Was thinking it might be a decent kit to put in the RV.
Anybody get one or have comments?

Yeah, I've had a bigger kit at work for a few years. It's held up well and build an insane amount of grills and mowers over the years. Hid away so no one snags it besides us. For Taiwan, very very good quality. Better than Gearwrench.

I do quite like how the V20 Craftsman batts, the light indicated charge stays on for a while. I wish Stanley B&D would update DeWalt's, too.

Wow, you have Dewalt stuff I never knew existed! I've a few at home and work and just got a medium duty 1/2" impact for when I go autocrossing for tire changes. Christmas "special" until 02/03/2020-$199 with free charger and 3ah battery. Seemed like a good deal and the wife said "OK, it's your early xmas present!"
I have a friend who is a Dewalt factory rep and I bugged him for years to make a cordless ratchet, contacted the factory, etc. Then a few years ago he calls and says" Good news, we're making a cordless ratchet! Bad news, we're branding it for Mac dealers so it will be 3 times more expensive! Sorry".

Extremely common debate topic in the store lol

The biggest problem would be the battery, M12 provides a post style battery that works well in the handle of a tool. In order to fit a 20v DeWalt or even a 12v it would have to be turned, and it'd still be clunky.

They did it on the buffer to provide more clearance between the tool and the vehicle, but it's still not as slim as an M12.

I love that 1/2" impact, we use the larger ones at work and I use the "medium" one at home and prefer it.

If you want to tinker you can make a 3/8" version with a DCF887, it'll cost you an impact and about 26$ for the 3/8" anvil. 3053bcd889ec4f7dd1e7171cb097584b.jpg

That's a good looking impact. Honestly, my high torque is over kill for a lot of stuff and heavy to boot.

NKlamerus, I have 2 of the DCF887, one at work and one at home. I'm a fleet mechanic for CenturyLink telecom trucks and it's probably my most used tool with both 1/4" and 3/8" mandrels! For bigger stuff I'm old school and use my IR titanium air impact.

I have this set. Picked it up a couple years ago for $60. Great set at the price, even at $80.

Note that once you get beyond Dodge Neon tires, the DeWalt outperforms Big Red no problem.

I popped into home depot for a few small things and this somehow fell into my kart. My wife is threatening to put a photo of me up at Home Depot with a note that says "Don't allow this man in unsupervised"4485a7c05dac988b533f5d70028e5702.jpg

$5 from Amazon, and delivered the next day for free. Can't complain. For comparison, the 12 blade version (this is a 10 blade) is $40 at farm & fleet (on sale for 27)

The jigsaw is really the only tool left that I've sought after but never have found a great deal on. Honestly, if you can get it free with a kit that's the best rate you'll probably ever get on it. I have a mint corded Makita, but would like a 20v one someday.

I agree, I've already got a corded dewalt Jigsaw, but always wanted the Cordless. Even without the starter kit it was a good deal. I could have bought just the Jigsaw for $139, down from $229.

Must have been a 1 day deal. I was about to stock up. Maybe they'll be back on sale for Black Friday or Cyber Monday

Does anyone have an DeWalt work pants? These looked nice, are still less than Carhartt/Dickies. My only complaints is the only lengths were 31 or 33 (I'm a 34) and I didn't want to risk them being Carhartts where the waist/lengths are ~3 longer and ~3 smaller than they should be, respectfully. Hopefully they'll exchange if so, I went a size larger in waist and the longest option. :dunno:
