Received my DeWalt 3/8" impact wrench today, DCF883. I love it so far. I got it for smaller stuff where the 1/2" impact is overkill but this removes lug nuts and is pretty powerful for its compact size.

oh yeah i like my 3/8, I just don't get why they don't offer a brushless model. unless...

is that a 3/8 anvil or a super short 3/8 adapter?

That looks like a 3/8 drive, but it is noticeably longer. I like how compact the dcf883 is.

I haven't seen that before. Does it have a model number?

Have ya'll seen this? Dewalt now makes an adapter to use 20V batteries on the 18v tools. I just might have to order this!

I have a set, it works with all the 18V XRP stuff I have. I have been picking up some 20V bare tools lately and plan on picking up a few of the 4ah or 5ah battery packs here soon as well to keep up with the higher demanding tools.

When Dewalt released the new "20V" line I was kind of upset as I had just rebuilt a few of my 18V battery packs after 7 years of hard use they were finally starting to fail. Now, I can keep my old 18V stuff and still run the new 20V tools. Trouble is now I'm seeing the 60V stuff and the list goes on LOL.

I have a D&B supply in town that sells tools only so its nice to just buy a bare tool without buying another charger and the 2ah battery packs...that's how they get you, they'll sell the sets for great prices but they give you the lowest ah batteries.

D&B also has the 18V stuff on clearance LOL.

Is there a place to purchase the Dewalt Yellow Bit storage cases? I purchased a spade bit set but no case at all, so I'd like to get them into a storage case to keep from damaging them by just having them thrown in a box. The trouble I keep running into is the cases I already have aren't long enough for the spade bits to fit as they are 6" long. I seem to recall that Dewalt used to make a larger case, but of course now that I need them I cannot find them. The one I've found is just a compartmentalized storage case which won't work either.

well that's definitely the dcf895 but that socket is so close to the 'chuck' it's just suspicious...

afa i can tell the only difference between the 3/8 impact and 1/4 impact is the motor is slower, which i assume produces more 'torque', as evidenced by the specs on the side sticker - slower rpm & less ipms (producing 5ft lbs more torque than the single speed brushless dcf886). I wonder if dewalt is just sticking with a proven platform for the garage.

Trouble is now I'm seeing the 60V stuff and the list goes on LOL.

looks like the 60v line is geared towards construction/contractors (like the 40v is for landscaping) so I wouldn't expect a 60v impact gun or bandsaw anytime soon, although you never know

nice first post

man, dewalt is really testing my patience though with the 60v stuff, it's backordered till roughly the beginning of November!? Why announce the new line in July if you can't ship it for half a year?

FlexVolt is in stores now. Checked out the line at HD last weekend. The mitre saw is especially impressive. Or maybe you ordered something from CPO to get a free tool, in which case, yes, you're hooped.

Perhaps demand outstripping supply? Then flex volt stuff was very impressive when we tested it. I've gotten estimates of 3 weeks shipping time to stores from the dewalt rep.

Could be, it does seem popular and is getting rave reviews for the most part. Only complaint is missing convenience features like rafter hooks, adjustable shoe, etc.

Yep that was a pretty big omission on their part, can't understand how they even overlooked that. Also the blade right on the circ saw has been the topic of controversy as well. I'm not a dewalt guy but have been very impressed by this new line and newer xr tools coming out as of late.

I have a decent amount of 20v Max but only grinder as far as FlexVolt goes. A blade left saw is coming next year from my understanding. I'll wait on that, I have a blade right Fuel. The reciprocating saw is a fail in my eyes; adjustable shoe is a must for added blade life.

Our rep didn't have the recip on him but I told him about blade orientation being a deal breaker for most guys. The brushless makita recip is spectacular but the fuel is still impressive to this day. Battery pricing is insanely good through this promo period re: the flexvolt stuff.

Agreed. FlexVolt battery pricing is amazing compared to the criminal prices Milwaukee has on batteries.

Milwaukee battery pricing is actually fair, makita has the most extortionate pricing with never any promo deals unless they're phasing something out like the non gauge 3.0s during xmas time last year. Dewalt has always charged the least for their batteries but with the prices on twin packs of 6.0s they are going to kill everyone. You get 12 amp hours (at 18v) for 180-200? Ridiculous.

A twin pack of 5.0 M18 is $230-$260 CAD. Twin pack of FlexVolt is same price. New M18 6.0 is $200 CAD and 9.0 is $250. I'm confident Dewalt 9.0 price is going to slaughter M18 lol.

Just got this yesterday. Took a bit to get it off the truck. I guess I should have read the specs where it said "weight 538 lbs." Got it off however without breaking anything. Now to install.

the dcf895 has a recessed chuck, so a 1/4 adapter looks like a regular anvil on a 3/8 imp

When I buy a used tool I just have to take it apart and clean it out. Can't leave well enough alone.

The m18 9.0 is $199, with the new cordless miter saw already including a free one, along with the 9.0 it comes with on a $599 saw.. So basically that's $400 in batteries and a $200 saw with a rapid charger. Twin packs of the 5.0 can be found for $129/$139.. Keep dreaming guys :) , you'll get there..

Btw, how's Dewalt's lighting options going??? Lol.

You're talking to someone who has thousands of dollars worth of Fuel and "TrueView". I also said CAD, ie: Canadian dollars, so my pricing comment still stands unless you feel like tracking down some killer deals for me (I would appreciate it). We also don't have any battery toss-in deal on the ($900 CAD) mitre saw kit yet that I can find. I'm sorry if you thought I was insulting the red team, despite being part of it, I understand how touchy people can be about their specific brands. Let me know how the cut capacity, dust collection, and deflection is on that Fuel mitre. Keep dreaming, one day they'll put out a segment leading cordless mitre, you'll get there. Or cordless nailers for that matter.

I was only joking.. it's all in good fun. But I believe Milwaukee has already accomplished some industry leading saws across the board - including the cordless miter saw...

Certainly no hard feelings, yellow takes a lot of **** for SB&Ds many corporate blunders though. There are some great tools in there, you just need to be selective. Milwaukee certainly has industry leading saws but mitres; I would disagree. The Fuel is a much better first try than their nailers though, and no one comes close in cordless lighting. Cordless planer, mitre, compact drill, nailers, multitool? Yellow has red bested soundly. Compact impacts, reciprocating saws, high torque right angle drills? Red>yellow. Then you factor in the tools that are so close it's a wash, and the tools each makes that the other doesn't and you have a fairly compelling reason to own more than one system.

I've purchased a few of the 20V tools now, and they've been doing well so far. If you want any serious run time between trips to the charger you'll definitely want to fork out the $$$ and get the 4aH or 5aH battery packs. I have a 4aH pack, and plan on picking up a few more just for the heavier demand tools like the impacts and saws.

Kind of torn between getting 20V batteries and the new Flexvolt batteries though now that they've come out I wonder if its worth getting Flexvolt batteries for the 20V tools?

What is that?? Lol

Btw - acme has Milwaukee deals now with the m18 fuel sawzall ( bare tool retails $199) and the 7 1/4" fuel circular saw (retails $229 bare tool) that both come with the new 9.0 pack and high rate charger for $249 - and was an additional 10% off today..

Essentially if you bought the sawzall you paid $25 for the 9.0 battery and charger, or if you bought the circular saw you got the 9.0 pack and charger for free..

It's not too late to jump ship !

VERY nice, the recessed 1/4 chuck in the drill coupled with a stubby bit makes for a seriously compact package.

you might want a bigger battery for the impact though to get through a job without having to keep switching out batteries.

It's not too late to jump ship !
you know I would if I didn't have so much b&y already, or if any local places sold Milfwookie (both HDs closed), or if they weren't such junk muahahaha loljk

I have both brushless version of the 7/16 hex drive utility high torque impacts at work. Milwaukee and Dewalt... the Dewalt is still nice and clean cause nobody wants to use it.
