I like this, surprised more powertoolcompanies did not have this before now, their removable battery technology is way ahead of traditional vac companies. My Mrs got the rechargeable Dyson version a few years back and it is an absolute steaming POS in terms of both build quality and rubbish non removeable battery. Would love to see Dewalt one.

Agreed, that's what I've been saying forever. The guys here kinda disagreed, saying it wouldn't sell with the Mrss, however, I bet if you bring home a good, light, cordless vac than you can slam a 12.0 onto and run for an hour, it would be damn well received.

I'm not sure on the 12 volt. Haven't really paid it much attention until the recent developments. I would imagine with the new cells they're using in 20v to make a 3ah the size of a 2 that it's very possible. WittHay would be the guy to ask there!

My thoughts on the DeWalt 12 volt is that they are tool you buy more for lightness and comfort not power. If you want power in a compact package look at the DeWalt Atomic.

Because of there lower power, the batteries in a DeWalt 12 volt last a surprisingly long time. The new 3.0's have light indicators now like the larger batteries.

Regarding Milwaukee M12 if you put a 6.0 battery on them you actually have a just as large, more uncomfortable tool with less power than a M18 version. the largest compact M12 battery is 3.0

Agreed on uncomfortable -- I hate that thick m12 handle. The pawnshop has both an m12 SDS+ and hammer drill...I'm curious as to why anyone would want those high power tools in 12 volt. Maybe if you don't have anything else 18, but I feel a SDS drill is where you need to step up...

New twist. A user on Reddit asked about bigger batteries for the 12V Xtreme. A employee of Dewalt responded with

I'm confused by what he means by "brushless XR 12V," isn't XR a separate line of tools??

I thought it stood for extended runtime. But I'm no Dewalt expert.

But the way the employee mentions "will break the back of the M12 line from Milwaukee". That makes me think it's a new tool line instead of just a XR battery. No way a battery alone will put the 12V Xtreme line up there with the M12 in power, the gap is pretty large.

I like the thought of that. Currently, every XR tool I've come across is brushless. I vaguely recall there being an outlier, tho. Extended runtime is my understanding of it, too.

Worst case, the employee was just being redundant.

I bet that employee is just a company man who's a little over-enthusiastic about the new products. It wouldn't make any sense to roll out another 12V line months after introducing the Xtreme line.

Where is the best place to get a few DCA1820 adapters. Genuine Dewalt is best I assume but I am open to aftermarket as long as they have a geed reputation and ship from the US. I have 1 and need 4 or 5 more.

Picked up the 4.5" atomic saw back a couple months ago. For sheet good so far I am loving it, very light and with the brake it's very easy to manage ripping through sheet goods. The only thing that I wish they would have thought about is the saw doesn't fit in a toughcase without pulling one of the storage pods and compressing the saws rafter hook.

I bought the Dewalt 12v Xtreme 3/8 impact wrench and its got pretty good power for its size. A big step up from previous Dewalt 12v pre-brushless lineup. Was able to break lug nuts at 175 lb/fts measured. Love the size.
Model number is DCF902F2 for those who are interested.
It comes as a kit with 2 batteries and its on sale now for $100 at Lowe's until 9/25.
I'm so happy with the value of this I may get 2 more as gifts and to have one as a spare in car trunk.

Good to hear that the new 12V Xtreme 3/8 has more power. I have the old brushed 12V 3/8 and its definitely not a "Xtreme" power tool

I dont know what to say. Just had a quick look at the Atomic at the local store. That and looking at pictures seems like a fairly compact tool. I have a brushed 885 and I consider the Atomic as the brushless choice or equivalent

Some of these tool reviewers must have some bias reviewing a DeWalt tool when there is a wall full of red tools behind them

Do you really need a super powerful impact? I find that the brushed 885 is good enough for my needs

They're pretty expensive OEM. I'd keep an eye out for used or eBay; if you really need 4 or 5 at once your best bet is probably generic.

This is true of both OEM and generic: Disconnect battery adapter and battery after working to prevent battery over Discharge

Nope just a terrible one. It's really weird since the Atomic is a HD exclusive (like the Xtreme is to Lowes). Lowes in my area is much, much better. Though they lack the power tool diversity of HD.

I did not realize that. Looks like, at least for now, they're the only B&M with it. Although the site just pulls up all local dealers of anything DeWalt.

Lots of videos on youtube with them. Unfortunately, I have a good diesel/kero one; hardly even use it. Portability would be nice for working on stuff (and pre heating diesels) in the field. Froze up combine comes to mind...

I like mine. I don't use it much other than for thawing out frozen waterlines on stock tanks, but for that it has been a lifesaver. No messing with a generator or power cord. Not super hot, but for my application it is hot enough. I'm tempted to grab a spare in case Dewalt ever decides to drop them.

Our local veterinarian also has one that he uses for keeping himself or certain things warm when vaccinating cattle in the winter. He likes his, although I think he's on his second after the first one stopped igniting.

Tried searching but couldn't find the info I was looking for here.

Any of you guys using the Tough System boxes have them beak? I've read a number of reviews where people said the side handles have broken. I hear the latching system (for attaching the boxes together) are hard to use as well

I have my eye on the Ridgid boxes but I like the pull out trays better on the Dewalt boxes. The Ridgid doesn't have a tray for their bottom rolling box like the Dewalt does.

I won't be using them for tool storage. I'm going to store metal bar stock in them. Yeah sounds like a stupid & expensive solution but I need it to be portable & easy to move around in my small workspace. I'll be sure not to overload them with weight but I'm concerned about the side handles breaking on the Tough System boxes. I'm mainly looking at the bottom roller box & large size box.

I had them for a couple years. Never had a problem with breaking. I do feel that the latching system is a pain to use for sure. But to each there own. I have sold all of mine. If you are looking for a deal BF they normally have the set for $99 at HD.

I really like the build quality of the Ridgid but the Dewalt configuration makes more sense for what I need. Gonna take my chances with the Dewalt. I think for $100 I'd take the chance. Mine is loaded down but pretty still; the handles seem stout. Granted, you're filling in the densest possible manner, but I doubt you'll grenade a handle. I could see a clamp failing if you pick up by the top.
