Dinner? What kitchen/cooking gadget can I make for her to convince her it will be worth the expense?
I recently bought an A1 with ams lite, still learning, but i have noticed the time and poop penalties. What they need is a 4 nozzle head unit so no purging is necessary, just need to calibrate the nozzle locations so the head can offset that much and keep printing.. As it sits, the A1 wastes a ton of filament when I'm doing multicolor in the same print. I'll have a poop bucket of waste that likely weighs as much as the print, if not more.
Consider the size you might want to print. I replaced my Flashforge 5M with a Creality K1max specifically for the extra print area. Conversely, if you are ok with the older 220x220mm print standard, the FF 5M is currently $150 via t the deals sites. Excellent value. So I spent a few weeks reading the last 100 pages of this thread and am thinking about getting a Bambu P1S and a Sunlu S2 dryer. I am on the fence about AMS and curious what others think about it. I am thinking of getting the AMS 1 bundle from Microcenter which adds $131 but want opinions on if it is worth it to upgrade to the AMS2?
Primary usage will be to print custom sized Schaller bins for hardware, probably using gridfinity. I think these need to be PTEG for durability and heat resistance in my shop. My 12 yo said he wants to be able to print fidgets and I am sure I will also want to print other organizers for my toolbox.
Despite having AMS units on two printers, I don't do Multicolor prints due to the waste. I use the AMS to allow prints easily to run through the end of a spool as well as to have drying space. Both of mine are the original AMS but with sunlu heaters on them.So I spent a few weeks reading the last 100 pages of this thread and am thinking about getting a Bambu P1S and a Sunlu S2 dryer. Just need to upgrade to the H2C. Easy peasyI recently bought an A1 with ams lite, still learning, but i have noticed the time and poop penalties. Nobody wants that.Dinner?

I have made the Mrs dozens of different cookie cutters.I was hoping to stay under $400 but you have a good point as the P2S is quite a step up from what I have read. I’ll reconsider this unit.
Mrs. Fourjeepin won’t be thrilled if I double the budget. What kitchen/cooking gadget can I make for her to convince her it will be worth the expense?
I'm thinking quality over quantity and getting a pretty good one vs. going for an entry level now and a good one later. And the Bambu because I want it to just work vs. tinkering with it. I've got enough things to fix already, def don't need to add to the list.I have made the Mrs dozens of different cookie cutters.
Def get the AMS and if you can swing it the P2S BUT the P1S is a great unit to start with and if you get to the point you need something better you will probably want 2-3 printers anyway.
I'll echo what others have said, if you can swing it the P2s is the sweet spot. You get the enclosed chamber, better screen, and pretty much the latest design without the $$$$ of an H2 series. If you think you'll print with filament other than PLA or PETG you are going to want an enclosure and even with PETG it prints nicer in an enclosure. This is coming from someone that bought an X1C on the kickstarter and bought an H2C combo on the black Friday sale.I'm thinking quality over quantity and getting a pretty good one vs. going for an entry level now and a good one later. Planning to drop by Microcenter tomorrow....
I was mixing up models... If I was getting a printer today, it wouldn't be a p2s, it would be a x2d. If the x2d is too much, I'd go p1sJust to note, I don't use the screen on the P1S for anything. Not sure what anyone would even use the screen for? I do almost everything from my phone or laptop? I just don't think the screen thing is that big of a deal. The P1S does everything I want a printer to do. I'm not sure I would gain anything from the P2S. If I was going to make the jump to something else right now I would spend enough to get something with dual heads, otherwise the P1S is fine but for the small increase if I were starting now I would probably go with the P2S. If someone were to make me a great deal on a P1S right now, I would also buy a second P1S and not feel bad about it. What I am getting at is the P1S is still a good printer and better than most out there, so if money is a concern you won't be unhappy with a P1S.
There are generational upgrades coming out pretty much every year. From color mixing to tool head swaps, the next few years are gonna be wild for the 3D printing ecosystem, provided that California and New York don't stop it all for their silly legislation. From all the reading and history telling from Bambu owners they’re all good options, even the now old P1S. There’s just that tempting newer tech to open your wallet a little wider.
I agree the P1s is a pretty good option for a lower entry price point. I considerd that, but the advancements and features that the P2s has over it seem worthwhile. Hopefully it will be a printer that will be a good intro for me, yet offer enough potential for me as I learn this art. From all the reading and history telling from Bambu owners they’re all good options, even the now old P1S. IIRC, the P2S is on sale right now from Bambu. Not sure how long the sale is going on for (think it was an extra $100 off).I'm just looking to get a first printer and have pretty much decided on the P2S combo and am just waiting until after a bit of travelling to order so I will be home to receive it.
What is that showing? Planes flying overhead of the lat-long entered?I saw this project in the Makerworld app and my wife is always using FlightAware to see where planes are going so I thought it would make a nice add for her desk.
Solder a little arduino to a screen.
Print the shell and install.
Upload the software, connect it to the wifi and put in the lat/longitude and it works.

5 axis printing is going to be awesome. There are generational upgrades coming out pretty much every year. From color mixing to tool head swaps, the next few years are gonna be wild for the 3D printing ecosystem, provided that California and New York don't stop it all for their silly legislation.
Everything new is focused on bypassing the "**********" filament switching wastage problem right now, but I fully expect to see more CNC-ish things coming mainstream like 5-axis printing in the next few gens released.
My wife would love this. Can you post a link to the project details?
I'm not the OP, but here's the link to the project I foundMy wife would love this. Can you post a link to the project details?

How do you get em to stay in there?welp after 80,000 made I finally think its time to injection mold these fly traps.
the old version are nubs that deform on entry . the injection mold version is snap wingsHow do you get em to stay in there?

I guess you're losing me. There's something obvious that I'm missing.Oh. there is an attractant and 3 gallons of water. some enter and leave. many/most stay and die from heat/drowning
