I got to use the tape measure over the weekend and it's one of the best tape measure I've used. It seems like a very well made all around tape measure

They got a bit over zealous w the wings on the hook for my tastes. I cut the two upper wings off the hook of my 25', was an improvement for me.

Several years ago I bought a 28V comb kit that included the saw-zaw, circular saw, drill and flashlight. I then bought the 1/2" impact wrench, radio and 4 1/2" grinder. I had some issues with the batteries going bad on me. I'm actually very disappointed as I didn't have much luck on getting the batteries cover under warranty. They did replace one then gave me the run around with the others. The warranty placed asked me where I bought them (off the internet) and they said I should have bought my tools from them as the tool companies selling them on the internet are selling tools that have been I made awhile ago so the batteries aren't as fresh as they should be. I have hardly used the tools as I mainly buy tools just to have them. I'm now in the position that I need to buy a couple ( 2 or 3) new batteries at about $175 each. I don't seem to see much talk about the 28V series and was wondering if maybe I should try to sell my 28V tools and get the 18V series. With some of the deals that Milwaukee offer, it might be the cheaper way to go. What are your thoughts about this?
Thanks,
Curt.

The new batteries are much higher quality than the older styles. I was in the same boat with old 18V tools, I don't know if they are worth anything but the M18 / M12 is a no brainer instead of sinking money into old overpriced batteries and having older technology lower power heavier tools.

Bobcatdan had the same battery experience. There's a thread here all about the V28/M28. I'm still a fan. You should be able to find new Red batteries for $130 or less. I'd stay with the M28 (get M28 Reds, they'll fit and work perfectly). I have M12, M18 and still enjoy my V28 tools. If I had time I'd find the other thread for you, I think sberry started it; he's also a V28 fan

My addiction has been relinquished by the other Red tools. I'm still keeping my M18s though!

I made a thread in the wrong section and rather than making a new one I thought I would post here while I wait for a mod to move it.

Here is my question.
Rather soon I will be doing some maintenance on my dad's car with him. Upon many things we need to do are the CV axles. Being me I said that I do not want to manually remove the bolts as they are going to be very stuck and probably round, so we probably need an impact. We are debating which impact to go with. I do not need ungodly power, but it would be nice to use on old bolts that just need an impact on various other projects on cars.
I already have a Milwaukee cordless ratchet, and I like the technology and the fact that the impact would use the same charger.

I was primarily torn between the 2662, 2655 and the 2763. One having 450ft lb, another having 210 ft lb and the other having 700ft lb. Bearing in mind that price is a consideration, but we would splurge a little more if necessary, what is the consensus here. I just work on our cars for fun because I enjoy doing it. This is by far not my job, I am a college student.

Second hand is definitely a consideration, but I do not know how the warranty would work should an issue arise. I was favoring the friction ring over the pin detent.

Also I currently do not have any impact sockets, so that is another thing I need to look into. For future use this tool would be nice for putting on lug nuts, then tightening with my torque wrench.

For one planned use of the tool... I'd skip that and drink a couple shots of Tabasco right before you go out for energy and grab your biggest breaker bar and have at it. :rocker:

Well I am at the point where I physically can not go any further. I am not saying I would never use it again. Hell I would love to use it all the time. So I would love to buy one and use it all the time.

seems its $99 most anywhere you look. I was able to pick it up locally at home depot, and got an extra 10% off from the milwaukee rep who happened to be in the store when I was shopping for it.

You don't want to use electric for an axle nut socket. Good chance it'll burn up

I've used my 2763 (Fuel M18 1/2) on my Tundra's axles and had no issues. Like the guy said above, after 5 second of hitting it, if its not gonna come off, stop. Out comes the 3/4 breaker.

My humble collection, all excellent.

The drills and screwdriver are great, hackzall does better on the 2.0 batteries and the jig saw has a learning curve, but all are great pieces. The FUEL impact is a tremendous tool for it's size and battery.

Actually, I do. Not professionally, but I like to fix and fabricate stuff. Weekend DYI-er. Most came from a kit. Used to have a Ni-Cd Bosch set, but the batteries sucked and too expensive to replace.

Oh wow. That's pretty lame. Mode 1 is about what the ratchet puts out, and you lose the ability to use the ratchet as a "breaker bar" if it's anything like the IR Hammerhead (which puts out 180 ft-lbs).

Honestly, I think I would still prefer the 12v cordless ratchet. If you can not use it as a normal ratchet to bust open nuts, then it seems pretty lame to me.

Maybe I am not the target consumer for that particular item, but I am the 12v cordless ratchet.
