I made a thread in the wrong section and rather than making a new one I thought I would post here while I wait for a mod to move it.
Here is my question.
Rather soon I will be doing some maintenance on my dad's car with him. Upon many things we need to do are the CV axles. Being me I said that I do not want to manually remove the bolts as they are going to be very stuck and probably round, so we probably need an impact. We are debating which impact to go with. I do not need ungodly power, but it would be nice to use on old bolts that just need an impact on various other projects on cars.
I already have a Milwaukee cordless ratchet, and I like the technology and the fact that the impact would use the same charger.
I was primarily torn between the 2662, 2655 and the 2763. One having 450ft lb, another having 210 ft lb and the other having 700ft lb. Bearing in mind that price is a consideration, but we would splurge a little more if necessary, what is the consensus here. I just work on our cars for fun because I enjoy doing it. This is by far not my job, I am a college student.
Second hand is definitely a consideration, but I do not know how the warranty would work should an issue arise. I was favoring the friction ring over the pin detent.
Also I currently do not have any impact sockets, so that is another thing I need to look into. For future use this tool would be nice for putting on lug nuts, then tightening with my torque wrench.
