Saw a review of the new High Torque today, and it was cracking 2K ft. lb nuts with the Forge battery while tearing up the poor 1/2" socket.

Crazy

That's some power. Looking forward to a TTC shake down.
Me too. I don't see myself ever needing that much grump. And half the cars I work on (Mini, Mazda3, etc.) are pretty tight on space, so the Mid Gen2 is the deal. I wonder how much extra (if any) the Forge battery gives the Mid...

I use my mid or an Astro stubby for 80% of fasteners that I can't get with 1/4 tools and electric ratchet nutrunners, but every now and then I run into a stubborn bolt that even my Aircat 1150 can't handle. Ideally am looking for something with at least 20% more power as a step up. Was thinking of a 3/4 Thor G2, but for occasional use this might fit the ticket. Most of the time am running a torque sucking extension so hopefully won't tear too many poor 1/2 sockets and extensions.

I’m hoping they come out with a CP 4.0 Forge pack with the new tabless 21700 cells
I think these are pouches vs the 21700 tabless in the HOs.

Was thinking the downside of this was that repacking battery cells is going to be impossible, but then realized I have been keeping 3 x 9.0s around that have been waiting for repacking for a couple of years after being denied warranty.

The only Forge pack that has pouch cells is the M18 6.0. The MX Fuel Forge and upcoming M18 12.0 Forge is/will be using 4000mAh tabless (tabless is the key word) 21700 cells, which pack WAY more of a punch than the standard 4000mAh 21700 cells found in the M18 HO 8.0s and 12.0s.

Thanks for clarifying. Good to know. The packaging must be an issue on the smaller packs, ie 6.0s.

Tabless... glad to see Tesla technology trickling down... A real cordless air hammer will happen one day...

Seems like a crazy-good deal. I'm guessing the Home Depot Hack (returning the battery) won't work (think that's just in-store), so I'll be selling the battery to lop off even more...if I keep it.
I5sOap.jpg

Then I wondered if I'd clicked too fast and went looking for where it sat vs. other options in the line. Apparently it sits at the "Better" in this slot, with the "Best" being the 2888. Which also has a deal running at HD:

$249 and get a free bonus:
zkwnBw.jpg
This one IS available in-store, and the "Free Gift" options are either a 6Ah HO battery or a Gen-3 3/8" Compact Impact. I think the "hack" will also work (just return the free gift for what appears to be a $119 credit on the impact). I don't need the impact (aside from the fact my impact sockets are 1/2", I already have an M12 Stubby that's smaller, lighter and similarly powerful) and I also already have plenty of M18 batteries.

So I ordered that too. B6eXzg.gif Guess I get to decide what to keep...

The only difference appears to be the variable speed on the 2888 - can't tell if there's anything else. Anyone know? My google-fu appears to be weak since I can't find a good side-by-side comparison.

Oh I can see how other folks who actually work might need it. I'm just a doofus in my garage... ;)

So I am sure some have you have done similar ...

Home Depot is having a sale on Milwaukee M12 and M18 tools. One of the "Special Buys" is a M12 starter kit (M12 charger, 5.0 HO battery and 2.5 HO battery) and you get one of 7 different tools FREE ! Well I have been "jonesing" for the 2057 right angle die grinder. I already have 2 M12 chargers and a couple of 2.0 batteries, so I don't need them, but that 5.0 would be a sweet addition especially with the die grinder.

How much hassle do you get from Home Depot, if you buy the kit, and return the charger and 2.5 battery, without a receipt ? Are they in sperate boxes inside the kit ?

You can only return itemized items on your receipt.

In your case the batteries and charger are 1 item and the grinder it a second item.

Best to return with the receipt. Each item will be itemized. On this particular deal you can see how each item is separated during checkout. If you don’t want hassle use the receipt

I don't think so !

I was at the store, and they appeared to be pre-packaged in a single box !

For my online order the "FREE TOOL" (M12 inflator) is a separate box from the battery+charger box. The M12 inflator is set for pickup on Friday and the battery+charger is to be delivered to the store for pickup next Friday. Before submitting the online order the charge for each box is clearly stated and separate. The battery(s)+charger cannot be separated and are a decent deal.

Picked this up recently. Setup works great and super happy with with it, just wish is wasn’t “snap on" priced.

But I DON'T NEED 3 M12 CHARGERS !
Price of admission! I would say I have ~20 chargers from all the tools and deals I have purchased over the years. I sell the stuff I don't need to sweeten the deals. Chargers aren't worth anything. I leave them in a tote at the end of my drive way marked free, with lots of other stuff, and have had no issues with it disappearing.

The M12 tools like the impact drivers are my primary go-to tool so I keep one M12 charger parked everywhere: garage, basement, rental etc. I recall a thread where a GJ member repurposed an M12 charger for a different purpose.

So my 6.5" circ saw just stopped working. The light comes on when I depress the safety but nothing happens when I pull the trigger. I tried the same battery in my 7 1/4" circ saw and it worked just fine. Not sure what the hell happened because it was working like a champ last time I used it. Any ideas or should I just RMA it?

Damn, alright I'm just barely still under warranty. I'll RMA it. If it was as simple as checking the switch, I'd open her up but might as well let them do it I guess.

Seems like a bunch of deals going around right now for red. I've been thinking of buying into the M12 line to keep in the house.

OK, so the pull chord on my lawn mower just broke for like the 100th time and I might finally be over it. Should I cave and buy the next 1/2 way decent deal on the Milwaukee mower? Or do I just go buy some new pull chord for the mower and repair the pull start but using fresh chord for the first time?

Cords are cheap and selling a running mower will be easier. Some HD are selling the displays for 20-25% off

Is this a trick question???

The Milwaukee junkie in me says buy the new mower.

In all reality, I'm FAR too cheap for that. And string is very cheap...

I fixed it up. The retraction mechanism was super stiff, after some WD40 and tying a new knot, she started on the second pull. I am at the point where if I do stumble onto a killer deal, I'll jump on it. Otherwise, its it ready for an oil change this coming weekend.

I think I am in the same boat. My Crapsman mower is still going strong so long as I don't let the ethanol sit and clog the carb.

Here's the start to my Milwaukee journey. I'm not ditching any of my Makita stuff, but I'm going to keep some M12 tools in the basement for small household tasks. Also picked up the right angle drill as a free tool but it hasn't come yet.

The stapler was basically free with the battery deal. I'm going to use it when I insulate.

Welcome. Love that surge. Such a pleasure driving screws without the traditional impact sound.

New Milwaukee Vise!!!…sort of. I got me a fine Capri 4 inch vise that I’m loving all except the color. Now I like Capri’s colors don’t get me wrong but I’ve got a bit of an obsession with red.So a few coats of tractor paint later fixed my issues. Really happy with how it turned out.IMG_2840.jpegIMG_2900.jpegIMG_2896.jpegIMG_2842.jpegIMG_2872.jpegIMG_2891.jpeg
