New Milwaukee Vise!!!…sort of. I got me a fine Capri 4 inch vise that I’m loving all except the color. Now I like Capri’s colors don’t get me wrong but I’ve got a bit of an obsession with red.So a few coats of tractor paint later fixed my issues. Really happy with how it turned out.IMG_2840.jpegIMG_2900.jpegIMG_2896.jpegIMG_2842.jpegIMG_2872.jpegIMG_2891.jpeg
Very nice set up. How did you bolt the vise down? Remove the wood and countersink for the bolts, or?

Any Long Term Milwaukee Top Off owners here

I want to get a heated blanket for the rear...
The car does have rear heated seats

I'm looking at the 12V heated blankets and the 120V seem to at least be *tried and proven*.
So here I am....thinking M18 top off with a regular 120V heated blanket
However, in skimming reviews - which is basically just an inverter....the reviews seem to be a mixed bag on this...

Maybe I should just get the 12V heated and it's cheap enough that when it craps out, I can buy another

Here's the start to my Milwaukee journey. I'm not ditching any of my Makita stuff, but I'm going to keep some M12 tools in the basement for small household tasks. Also picked up the right angle drill as a free tool but it hasn't come yet.

The stapler was basically free with the battery deal. I'm going to use it when I insulate.

Trying to avoid using the battery/alt in this car.....
While I keep the car on a maintainer every now and then....
It doesn't get driven as much.
Dang alt is on a clutch, charges during regen braking, etc - so I'm somewhat trying to minimize additional draw load not the battery/alt system of the car - hence **overthinking** the 12V vs 120V heated blanket in the car.

And most of the 12V seems like a crapshoot but many more 120V seems to have some decent lifespan

Well I was thinking if you are set on the 120v you could run it off the 12v DC in the car with an inverter to get it back to 120v for the blanket. If you are trying to preserve the 12v system in the car, I suppose something like the M18 top off would be the way to go. I know the top off really sucked when it was first released. I don't know if the released a gen 2 version of it or not. My friend had it and tried to use it for some relatively lower draw stuff and was very unhappy with the results but that was the initial release stuff. Unfortunately, all I can tell you is that I've seen the same mixed reviews for that thing that you have. I think the larger M18 dual battery transformer might be a bridge too far for what you are trying to accomplish here.

What about a smaller sized lithium automotive battery that you plumb into the vehicle's 12v charging system and running an inverter off of that? It is probably a lot more work than you want to put in but it keeps the weight down compared to a full size second lead/acid or AGM car battery. The only thing extra you might need is a voltage cutoff switch for the battery. Some of those automotive lithium batteries don't self protect as well as they should.

The M18 right angle is huge and unimpressive. I added an M12 for its smaller size but it is also unimpressive. Probably the smaller M12 is more useful, but an old school mechanical right angle attachment might be the better tool.

The M12 install kit is also worth looking it since it can get into tight spaces due to its many possible orientation of angles. It also is not very fast or powerful.

A hole hog might be the way to go if you have heavy duty drilling.

Not really looking to add another battery to the car...it has a whopping 12V as such for the starter and 12V needs & a 24V for the suspension Wizardry they have got going on, etc...and I suppose *adding* as 12V battery is possible, it's just another complexity where I wouldn't even bother tying into the car but just treat it as a aux battery that I can put a charger on it ....But that's just way too much for a very limited use case application..

So my well used 2860 first gen mid torque is dying. What should I replace it with? The 2962? Or am I missing something? Is the Home Depot price of $249 + a free 5.0 a good deal?

The 296x is a much better gun than the first gen. $249+ the free battery is an ok deal. If it were me, I'd grab a bare tool off fleabay for much less and put the difference towards the new Forge battery.

Bought the new M12 high output batt kit with free tool for $200 from home depot

Kit includes HO CP 2.5, HO XC 5.0, m12 charger, and picked the high speed 3/8 ratchet for the free tool

Hopefully the m12 HO XC 5.0 are more resistant to oils/solvents like advertised. I have 4 m12 XC batts with broken/cracked clips from getting brake fluid on them and spraying off with brake clean

Have you tried cleaning the brake fluid off with something less aggressive (like Dawn dish soap and water)?

Not really, the first few broke from brake fluid only, just wiped it off with a rag. After that I'd spray the fluid off as fast as I could. Keep a can of brake clean in my cart. Apparently the brake clean is just as bad or maybe the damage is already done? The clips just keep breaking

I got all kinds of **** on my old snappy ct4410 and never had a problem, but the ni-cad batts crapped out and the impact was dated. This is one area where snapon cordless is superior, they can really take a beating.

I think that is what the new batteries are supposed to address. They have ones coming out this year that are specifically for chemical resistance if I recall correctly.

Got my 12V heated blanket in - did a test run....I've never used one before so I have no baseline to work off of.

This thing has H/M/L on heat settings, but even on High, it's just very subtle if you take the blanket, and throw it ontop of yourself. *Very* Subtle....as if you're waiting to see how hot it gets, and just can notice it's is very subtly warm from the element in the blanket.

Given the application in which there is built inmseat heating, which can get hot to the point where you want to put it on Low and it still may feel too hot, going to pass on this whole idea in itself...

Eh, maybe I was expecting too much from a 12V blanket. I'm slightly familiar with the 120V and those can get toasty..

My brother gave me a new 1/2 impact (2767) from the company he works for (a seller of a wide range of goods on Amazon/ Ebay). I'm trying to find the manufacture date. Is there a date code somewhere? The only numbers I see are the part number and the serial number.

The 6th and 7th digit are the year and the 8th and 9th digit are the week.

Example - 2235 is 35th week 2022. 1945 is 45th week 2019.

Who likes their Stubby.

Time to put on snow shoes so I'm going to grab the Stubby out to -re-evaluate it-
I haven't used it since the 1st month I got it eon's ago.
There was lots of praises for it, but for me, when it was lacking in power and I needed the mid-torque, it was just easier to just use the mid-torque as the impact to grab.

Mine is a (bad) joke. I've got a 2.5 high output battery now, hopefully that wakes it up.

I agree the stubby is not the best choice for wheels since it won’t always do the job. But smaller and lighter is sometimes nice when the work is within the torque range.

When the Mid Torque was basically a medium-sized 2767, the Stubby was awesome. I went from the Gen1 to the Gen2, and the Stubby has gone from the first thing I reach for to the 20% or so case.

Was doing the brakes on the family Mazda a while back with the Stubby, and wondered how well the Mid Gen2 would fit:

The Mid Gen2 rocks. Compact but grumpy enough that I sold my 2767 and haven't missed it (yet - though I've done complete suspensions on that same Mazda and my Mini (which involves dropping the friggin' front subframe... pgNW3y.gif) without issues.

Another Fall has come and almost gone and still no leaf and twig vacuum from Big Red. Sigh.
Have you ever used one before? Imho they are a giant waste of time and very hard on the impeller blades. I tried with my Stihl BG86....for about 5 minutes before I gave up.

Now I have a backpack blower which blows the leaves into an area that my Honda mower can access. I mulch all the leaves up with the mower, then come back with my Simplicity rider with a belt driven blower on the deck and a big cart behind it to collect all the leaves.

When I skip the mulching step and just use the Simplicity to collect the leaves I fill up the cart about 8 times. Mulching cuts that in half!

if they can make it quad battery and 8hp equivalent please count me in.

I started off with a corded black and decker and eventually ended up with a billy goat. It's loud and dusty so I still don't like using it. The key is the 6 inch hose which still sometimes jams with large twigs. Maybe if it was just dusty and not loud, ie electric, maybe I could live with it. Probably do the mower mulching more often than not which all the professionals seem to do.

Thinking WAY outside the box here...

I'd love it if Milwaukee would make a power head to replace ICEs on existing OPE. That way, all the money I've invested in gas-powered equipment isn't wasted, I could just repower and go straight to battery power!

As for mulching with a push mower before using a tractor: WHY??? Just put a mulch plug on your tractor deck, ride around and mulch the leaves, then pick up with your blower / vacuum setup. That's what I do with my Craftsman tractor and Trac Vac leaf collector (both of which I'd love to electrify someday, and since I'm ready on M18, let's GO!!!)...

I'm sure I'm not the first person to come up with this crazy idea...

I am looking at that M18 blower and pole hedge trimmer combo that HD has for 460 or so. You guys like that hand held blower…or like the pole hedge trimmer? Thanks…
