I just bought the M18 Fuel 1/2" impact bare tool. I got it for $189 with a Vet Days sale. If I was to do it again, I'd get the non-Fuel M18. The M18 fuel impact is a big tool. I under the non-Fuel version is smaller. I also have the M18 Fuel 3/8" impact. I took a picture of the two in order to compare the size difference. I'll post the pict. tomorrow.

Is there a huge difference in torque spec between the 3/8 and the 1/2?

Some more Milwaukee goodness...

The can coozies came with the screwdriver. Which is actually pretty cool, because you can see on the end of the handle, there's a built-in wire stripper, and the two holes in the shaft are for bending wire. Not a good replacement for wire strippers, but it can save you a trip down off the ladder, or back to the tool cart.

At first, I wasn't sold on the side-cutters because of the angle of the head, but after you get use to them, they're pretty useful. As for the strippers, I haven't used them a lot yet. But I do like the versatility of being able to actually use them as needle-nose pliers too, because they're pretty thick on the ends. They're good for breaking ends off of outlets and pulling off knock-outs.

So I was poking around the Milwaukee AU site as I have friends there after the "real" die grinder was revealed to me above. They offer a 6mm collet (which I don't think would work for 1/4" accys here; .236 vs .250) but they also offer an 8mm collet although I'm not aware of 5/16" burs or grinding stones here. .3125 and .315 should play together.

Does anyone know if the AU batteries and US batteries interface w the tool identically?

HOWEVER I saw an M18 18ga shear "coming soon" on the AU site so I popped to the US site and it seems avail now:

I have the M12 3/8" ratchet and love it. I bought about 1 1/2 years ago. One month ago I stripped something in the head of it pretty bad.
Took it to a Milwaukee dealer and they sent it off for warranty repair. Dropped it off on a Thursday and it was back from the factory and in my box the next Wednesday.
With service like that I will buy more Red when the time comes.

The one you have (per the link you posted) has 450 ft lbs of torque (2663-20), I have the smaller fuel 1/2" drive model (2655-20) w/only 210 ft lbs of torque and it only weights 2.73lbs, according to the specs your weights in at 5.2lbs, fwiw. I opted for the smaller tool since I only need in the 150 ft lb range max.

Yes, the M18 batteries are the same around the world. I use UK M18 batteries with my US Sawzall and impact driver. The chargers are different for each country though according to mains voltage and socket types.

Yes. The non-Fuel 1/2" is rated at 450 which would have really been enough for what I do. The 1/2" Fuel is rated for close to 700 (I think-I'll double check).

The Fuel 3/8" is rated for 200 ft. lbs.

Can you tell me more about your Sawzall? I'm in the market for a new one and I bought a 4.0 XP battery to use some of their bigger tools. How does it work? Is there a Fuel/non-Fuel version of the Sawzall?

I like it because you can take it anywhere. I don't like it because it doesn't come with a case.

Hey, the link came up when I quoted someone. I wound up getting the M18 Fuel 1/2". It has a lot more than 450 ft lbs. That is the rating for the non-Fuel 1/2" impact.

I paid $129 for this 2 weeks ago....going to return/rebuy or at least get a price adjustment. A steal for $99 if you ask me, even if it is the 1.5/3.0Ah packs.

Seems like they've been sacrificing a lot of margin lately to push their product into market. You don't see DeWalt, Bosch, or Markita throwing out nearly as good deals. So if you're not "saving" off MSRP, you need to better self control.

Yeah, right now you can get a free battery with the bare 2404. If they had made the promo a free 4.0Ah with the 2404 Id have bought it already. I really only want the kit BECAUSE of the 4.0Ah pack (I have 2 of the 2.0 packs already)

Ill keep an eye on it. Dont really need a hammer drill right now so the 3/8" should work fine.

yesterday when i checked, one store had it listed at 129.99 and phone was 99. it rang up at 99 anyway.

and today when i purchased, website was back to normal at 169.99, the shelves in the store were still at 129.99 . and it still rang for 99...

as much as i want that thing, i can't justify 400 to go cordless on a saw that doesn't travel farther than 10 feet from a socket.

I like my cordless circ saws, but they arent Milwaukee nor are they full size (6" blade). I really only use them when I have small lightweight jobs to do (cutting 3/4 ply, a few 2x4s, etc), otherwise Id use a corded anyway.

While it would be really nice to have a cordless saw with corded power, I use it so infrequently Im not sure Id pay for it. Now if HD had a bundle that included it for free (which they do), well then maybe
