I am working for many years with bosch professional, makita, hitachi, but Milwaukee, especially FUEL series is realy more robust, powerfull. It is something obvious not just marginally better then others.
I also have Metabo and other professional electric tool and just from what i have, i can make a real comparison.
Maybe is a matter of taste, i like red colour :p

The reason I prefer Milwaukee is because they always seems to take th extra step to make something good, better.. Take their bits sets. For year I cursed at my DEWALTS for, being so hard to get in and out.. Milwaukee took theirs, and designed it so u can rotate the holder vertically so bits and drivers slide in and out with ease.. Simple solutions like that can make life just a touch easier, and all for the same, price as another company's. Every item I've bought offers a feature like that..

Just bought my first red tools. Picked up the M18 Fuel Hammer/Impact combo. It'll arrive at my house tomorrow, but I don't fly home until the weekend. What do I need to know about warranty registration? Is it online, or mail in?

I haven't even used them yet, and I'm already trying to figure out which tool I need to buy next the most.

LOL this isn't the Ridgid scam. Just keep your receipt. There ya go, you're "registered". If you lose your receipt you're covered from date of manufacture.

Time to get that thing dirty! Does it live up to the hype?

I took it out to the shop and made one simple cut on a pressure treated 2x4 and it cut with out any issue and quickly on a half charged 2.0 battery.

couple of observations:
- well made
- small and light
- brake is very active. Blade stops very quickly after letting go of the switch
- there are provisions for a fence.

My humble allotment

Nice Sea of RED collection! Got the same Milwaukee radio. It looks cool but could use some modern upgrades like bluetooth capability. Pic includes the USA Magnum drill and big corded sawzall. Missing from the pic are the M12 Fuel hammer drill+impact driver+4.0 batteries

Anyone else have a problem with their m12 power pack charging their cell phone?

I have a Galaxy S5, and I use the USB cord that came with it. My phone will usually tell me to plug in the original cord for faster charging. My phone charges fine from the lanterns, but the power pack is giving me fits. Is it me or do I need to get the power pack exchanged?

It could be that it doesn't put out enough amperage, the S5 is going to expect at least 1A to charge at full speed but will also charge at a slower rate on a standard 500mA USB port. Additionally, some phones and tablets come with a charger or cable that is wired to tell the phone that it's connected to a charger and not a computer, allowing it to pull more amperage. If I remember correctly, they put a resistor between two of the pins to identify it as a charger. Typically a 'charge' cable will not pass data when connected to a computer. I'm not sure how the M12 power pack is set up... Does it have a full size USB port, or a hardwired cable with a micro USB tip? If possible, try connecting the phone to the power pack with the charge cable that came with the phone (not sure if you meant that you are using a cable that came with the phone or with the M12 pack.) Even at the reduced rate, it should still charge under most circumstances, just slower. There are some situations where the phone's power demands can outstrip a slow charger, such as when running GPS with the screen on or streaming a video, but while idling with the screen off it should charge.

+1

Most of the early adopters of this technology have the same complaint as electronic devices became more sophisticated and needed higher amperage chargers. Check out the USB output of the M12 power source as the source of the problem. The "newer" version of the M18 power source addressed these complaints and increased the output to 2.1 amp as reported by some users and on woodstock's video.

This has been my experience with both generation charger. If you have the older with the car style/barrel, get a usb car charger and put it in instead of relying on the usb port in it. There is a difference in the output amps. However, the batteries in these tools are meant for different discharge rate and I think for most 'normal' batteries its 3:1 tool batt to phone batt for a full charge.

I only use it if I have been out literally all day and need to charge to keep it from dying. We were without power for 3 days and it was the longest weekend ever. After that I made sure I had two of them, one for each phone at the very least.

Get yourself a couple of the pruning blades for that Hackzall and you can go to town on any trimming bushes, trees, etc. that come up in the yard. Makes yard care a joy now -- I don't know when to stop.

Here's some of mine. Also have a 2763, ratchet & hoodie that aren't in the picture

Next up is a 3/8 right angle impact, maybe a 2454 M12 impact and the M12 LED stick light

I've previously posted in a V28 thread the first pic of my V28/M28 collection. Thanks to a board member here I also just got the right angle drill and 3-bay charger. Go V28!

I just ran out of Big Red Tools I must have so I'm now buying other things for spring projects.

My Big Red Copper Cutter just came in. Cut a couple of 3/4 pipe. Ahhhh- so nice not needing to use a regular pipe cutter anymore----and I have tons of Ridgids tubular cutters. Even a big one that does 4 1/4 capacity

That pipe cutter looks pretty cool. Only complaint I saw was they don't handle water very well, even in small amounts, so I'd watch out for that

Indeed on the water. Which was interesting....as their new cordless brushless sawzall does.

Only other new *toy* on my Big Red list is the PVC shear....which I don't really need, but it's gotta be better than doing manual ratcheting shears.

IGN : how do you like the vac. ALOT have posted that's it decent....I keep wanting to buy it but I always say, it's been released so long ago, something new must be around the corner. That was 2 years ago, and I've probably been tempted to buy the vac 5X already since then...

The shop vac? I think they're great. They're still not gonna rival a rolling corded vac, but so convenient it hardly matters. I think the 18 volt and 28 volt are identical but for the battery interface, although I've never personally handled the 18 volt units.

My current shop vacs are a 9 gallon Bosch Auto Filter Cleaning and the Festool 9 Gallon CT 36 Vac.

I always wanted a small one for car vacuming....instead of dragging the corded to it.
Always intrigued by the cordless for quick easy cleanup.

Darn it big Red. Will Ya Release a new One Already so I can stop hemming and hawing at it

Love my fuel 1/2 and 3/8 impacts.

It's really really hard to beat that 2654 3/8 brushless. I have the bigger one but almost never use it. I originally thought I wanted the biggest/strongest one they made, but in hindsight the 2654 is strong enough for almost everything and is not much heavier than a small impact driver. Hard to beat that.

I've almost bought the M12 3/8 brushless impact I was so impressed with the 2654. I haven't done it, yet, though :D
