Has anyone investigated the M18 promo in-store right now? You can get a free M18 lantern or compact battery w purchase of the 2701-22 compact brushless drill kit, or the LED floodlight or something-I-forgot w the 2799 compact brushless combo kit.
Specifically, does the register pro-rate the $79 or $99 discount across the items as it did w the $150 promo last year???
I ordered the lantern deal online and online it throws it together into one big part number, but the register would likely be different as the items are rung up separately.
If it pro-rates, you know what that means......and if you don't know, you don't care about it anyway.
Well ****....I tried to get this deal today for a girl friend (no, I'm not going to bang her) who just got into M18 and lives off the grid. I really just wanted to gift her the lantern and return the drill kit. Should have made the lantern around $57 after pro-rating the $79 between the 2 items. Feel free to lecture me on ethics but it won't be heard; I don't care.
Well, it did not discount anything at SCO and I got help from 2 attendants. The manager was really cool and told me to show her the promo card still mounted on the pallet racking at the Milwaukee section, so I did and she agreed it should have removed the $79.
The system apparently would not let her zero the lantern, so she put it at -78.99, thus it shows on the receipt as a penny. Now I DO feel bad IF I return the drill because I will have gotten the lantern for free. Again, if you feel my ethical line is arbitrary, save your breath.
So now I'm stuck w a 2701 compact kit and a free lantern. I don't want to return everything 'cause I really do want to gift the lantern. I'm going to either a) justify a reason I need a SECOND 2701 or b) try to return for store credit and order the 2nd gen women's jacket for the wife or the 3rd gen rip-stop jacket or vest for myself. That way HD still gets my $, and the jacket kits are almost exactly the same cost as the drill ($199)
