Looking to take the step and get my first Red tool. Going to use around the house. One big project coming up is installing new kitchen cabinets.

Trying to decide on the:

m12 fuel drill/driver impact combo set ~ $220

m18 drill/driver impact combo set ~$170

Or just the m18 fuel hammer drill/driver only ~150

Will the m12 fuel do the job? How big of a jump from m12 fuel to m18 to m18 fuel?

Around the house I would get the M12 FUEL combo. I reach for mine more than the M18 because of size and weight. I also have big hands so I like the grip. Mines done everything I've needed. M12 fuel to M18 would be a smaller jump than either of them to m18 fuel.

M12. For around the house. The m18 is great but for doing cabinets and anything around the house the m12 is better

Yea thats what I was wondering thanks. Is there a model thats better then the rest of the 3/8s impacts?

Fuel will be stronger/lighter regardless of which you want. M18 is obviously stronger than M12.. so just depends on what you want. If you want smallest, M12 fuel. If you want strongest 3/8" they've got, then M18 fuel. I have both.. honestly I haven't used my M18 fuel 3/8 since I got the M12 fuel version. But I also have the 1/2" fuel one around for larger stuff so the size of the m12 is nice

Do they make a 3/8" corded impact. Im weighing my options on corded vs. battery. The 1/2" impact corded has 300lbs foot pounds and the 3/8" battery one has 210lbft

Finally dove into the M18 line. Got the Fuel 1/2" impact for $198 at Home Depot and scored a Brand New 2 pack of the 5.0 batteries off Craigslist for $75. Bought a new charger off ebay for $30 which is coming tomorrow.

Yeah probably since all of corp America *****, but can dream about a fun & interesting corp job.

Working at a company that makes cool stuff in R&D isn't all it's cracked up to be... Or almost any it's cracked up to be. You might get to work on cool stuff but they all do things that **** to their employees, they all are a drag sometimes or all the time, they're stressful. You leave depressed and disappointed a lot. Life on the big blue marble.

I really like Milwaukee, but I have some very good first hand ideas on why it would probably **** to work there.

2 pack of 5.0s is a steal for $75. I sold the same thing last month for $130.

Here are the weight differences between the M12 FUEL and M18 FUEL. These were done on my scale and not taken from a pamphlet or anything.

M12 impact weights
With 4.0AH battery- 2lb 12oz
Without battery- 1lb 13.8 oz

M18 impact weights
With 5.0AH battery- 3lb 14.2 oz
Without battery- 2lb 4oz

M12 hammer drill weights
With 4.0AH battery- 3lb 6.2 oz
Without battery- 2lb 7.8 oz

M18 hammer drill
With 5.0 AH battery- 5lb 2.4 oz
Without battery- 3lb 8.2 oz

Thanks for the weights. That Is good information. I like the idea of lighter weights. If I go with the m12's I will have to hide them from my wife. If she fells how light they are I can see them disappearing.

International Tool 10% off everything, some exclusions, doesnt seem to stack with other promos. No code required, site reflects 10% disc on items. Good till 4/18.

I predict Fuel jigsaws coming in next 12 months.... I keep postponing a M12 or M18 jigsaw waiting for Fuel... arent we also lacking a M18 Fuel hacksaw?

New to the forum guys. But I've got an addiction I can't curb, ie to the new Milwaukee tools. I think since last year I've easily sunk 2-3k into the m4 electric screwdriver, m12 tools, and m18 tools. Before hand I had Dewalt, Hitachi, and Porter Cable for most tools. For automotive I had Snap On cordless. I'm pleased to say I sold all of that and bought a ton of my first Milwaukee tools with that. I still have a Bosch set and quite a few Makita cordless tools but from now on it'll be teal and red/black for me. The m18 fuel high torque 1/2 and 3/4 impacts are unreal honestly. The only cordless that is stronger is the Ingersoll cordless I have but not by much. Both of those impacts actually are under rated according to my testing. The Snap On cordless tools I had didn't hold anything on the new Milwaukee stuff. I just bought the One Key 3/8 m18 fuel impact. I'm excited to see if my thoughts will hold up on it. I'm hoping I can set the 4 presets as 4 different common torque settings I encounter while wrenching (mainly lug torques). So yea that's another $300 spent on Milwaukee today :). I don't have some of the way more specialized tools they have such as the flir device, crimper, punch out tool, but I'm not an electrician either.

Their hand tool offerings are amazing too. The $10 pair of demo rated screwdrivers are a screaming deal, same with the 1000v rated electrician's drivers for $19, and the tool storage cabinets that HD sells for them are awesome as well. I'm a red and black guy for life now. :D. I'll get pics as soon as I get a chance.

M18 Fuel - It's an animal! I've had mine about 2 years. Does better than my air impacts, and I don't have to fire up my compressor!

John

I have a decent array of 3/8 impact socketry but I find I never use them cause my air ratchet isn't strong enough. Would like to. Make better use of my wobble sockets
I can't find on the shelf 3/8 fuel in Home Depot here in Canada and will continue to look

I think I saw somewhere that Milwaukee wasn't planning on releasing an M18 Fuel Hackzall, maybe Facebook or Toolguyd?

I have also been waiting for a Fuel jigsaw. I prefer a corded for shop use but offsite really need a cordless. I've managed to get by without so far, but I'm pretty close to buying the Makita brushless. I just think a brushless saw would give me longer battery life, something lacking on the cordless jigsaws I've used in the past.

Has anybody used the M12 jigsaw? Thoughts?

I'm just looking for something that will see occasional use. I really like the Dewalt 20v but I have a bunch of M12 stuff and no Dewalt...

Everything is overpriced at Grainger unless you've got an account and do some serious buying with them.

So has anyone tried the cordless finish nailers yet?

Edit: I see it says coming May 2016.

Any idea if we are able to place preorders?

Can you find out for sure? Or is it one of those things they show up at a random time? I would like the angled 16ga nailer right away.

Unfortunately this is all I've seen on it so far. Not even a specific date :(.

I just picked up the M12 Multitool. I'll be using it to cut holes for boxes in sheetrock, plaster and lathe walls, wire molding, and other stuff that needs cutting in the electrical world.

Sadly I've had my first Milwaukee casualty. Roloc backer for my M12 polisher/sander broke.

attachment.php

They've just epoxied it in there which I was kinda surprised by. It looks to be M7-1.0 on the small side, and M9-0.7 on the large side.

I'll get a hold of Milwaukee tomorrow and see what they want to do. If they won't do anything I'll just re-glue it in there and it'll probably be fine but maybe they'll just send me a new roloc arbor or something.

Just got my new workbench off my truck and decided to take a picture of my collection so far. Unfortunately won't be able to afford new ones for a while.

Just got this Milwaukee M18 combo kit as a birthday gift. Impact driver, drill, LED worklight, 2 batteries, power source, charger, and carry bag. On sale for $169 at HD. Also was given the 45 pc Shockwave impact bit set. I'm pumped to try these out
