Is that a 3D printed battery?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

No, it was a broken battery that I salvaged. Re-celled it with high capacity 18650 for low-current applications (Fan/light/USB charger). I took off all the stickers so that I won't accidentally stick it into my drill or impact wrench.

That is amazing. I'd be willing to be ALOT of new parents would love a small nightlight light that in the nursery.. that's a great idea..

Can I offer another small idea.. "patent pending" You should make a picture frame with enclosed LED's mounted behind the perimeter of the frame that would illuminate the picture from behind - like that, and sell those online with a 110v plug.. how many new parents would love a picture like that as a nightlight in the nursery.. umm - all of them...

Haha, great idea! Here is a free website to turn any photo into a 3d-printable lithophane. http://3dp.rocks/lithophane/ The 3D printer that I have is only $300 from monoprice.com during the Christmas sale. Best tool in my garage ;).

Not milwaukee related, but I made this one for the grandparents for Christmas. This one took over 30 hours to print and about $2.50 worth of plastic.

I wonder who's gonna be the first to start 3-d printing bricks...

Anyone wanna sell their used clean m12 brushed 1/4" ratchet? Thinking I might get one of the old ones.. I have a 3/8 and have no need for the fuel models.

Finally tried out my $50 Milwaukee bar stool, some mentioned it didn't have a lot of cushion but I sat on it for maybe 20 mins in my shop and while it is firm I don't find it uncomfortable, I like it. YMMV

Neat...curious now to what applications would need a stand alone hydraulic pump :dunno:

Any application where a hand pump (porta Power) was used to generate pressure via a cylinder and Air isn’t readily available to run your prototypical foot controlled model. I suspect since your Air powered models can be found at roughly 10% the cost of the M18 unit, it’s aimed at a specialized group of consumers.

Curious - has anyone ever figured out what the code is that'll get flashed out on the m18 batteries yet if you hold the battery status button down? Seems to work on all my batteries but the 9.0's.. the actual button on the 9.0 batteries seems to feel different also.. a more positive click on it..

If you've never seen it, just hold the battery status button down for a couple seconds..

this:

https://diy.stackexchange.com/questions/109504

starts with a discussion of the M28 batteries, but devolves into a few notes about the M18's.

sadly, nothing useful.

days since first charged is only useful if it does not include the factory. the batteries already have a manufacturing date code scratched into them. it would be useful to figure out how long the owner had them, and would also provide interesting information about how long batteries sit on the sales shelves.

were i to guess, i would bet the "unknown" codes have to do with the last error seen by the battery when attached to the charger. how many different devices it had been attached to also might be interesting, but i dont know how much "smarts" are really inside the pack . . . .

it might be interesting to try and drain a battery all the way (or open it up, and disconnect the leads for a day or two), and see if the codes change . . . . .

The new Harbor Freight cases make a pretty good case for all 3 ratchets.

so, how do you lock down those side shelves on those kobalt storage units? i have two, and on both of them, the side shelves dont stay in place. when i pull something out, the shelf often slides out an inch or two. there are no catches along the back wall to hold them in place. what am i missing?
I know what you're talking about. I think ill look for a solution tomorrow

I have found that the disco light show doesn't happen with any of my newer batteries that have the WIFI symbol on the bottom of them. I don't know why. Maybe they got sick of people asking what it meant :headscrat

Great link, thank you. I've searched on this topic before...surprised this one never came up in the results. I had some guesses, but these observations seem to make a lot of sense.

Great idea, responsible lithium ion user

Question: when you put new cells in, were you able to disconnect/replace the cells without keeping ~18v on the pack's circuit board? I ask because there's a YouTube video where the guy was afraid of completely cutting off voltage to the board since he suspected that it would lock out the pack and render it useless...so he did the cell swap power always feeding the board. Looked like a total PITA.

Found it:
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Rp6CUptw5mM?start=749" frameborder="0" gesture="media" allow="encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I've been wanting to put some of the brown LG 3Ah cells in one of my 2.0 packs as an experiment but I don't have the patience to add all of those tiny wires like this YouTuber does!

I am also trying to find the # for the 2753 impact/driver. Google only comes up with other models.
Thanks

FYI for anyone ever looking for a Milwaukee tool's boot part number, or even if it has one, it's always listed in the parts diagram. You can find these directly on the Milwaukee website, and they're posted almost immediately when a tool is added to their website. If it's not there, there is no boot.

1. Go here.
2. Type in the tool's item # (i.e. 2753-20).
3. Select "Service Parts List and Wiring Instructions".
4. Click "Go".

Example:
https://documents.milwaukeetool.com/54-26-2755.pdf

Figure # 81 = boot

And to answer someone else's question, the boot for the 2754 and the 2755(B) impacts is the same, part # 49-12-0012.

When they have the manuals up, sometime that takes 6 months after something is released..... What you said is also useful to get hard case part numbers.

Picked up at Home Depot the Brushless leaf blower. I guess there is a new version coming out so the price was marked down to 98.00 from 149.00. I also had a 15% coupon I was able to use to I got a great deal.

Used it this weekend to clean snow off the driveway and sidewalks (yea super fluffy snow). In 5-10 deg weather with the 9.0 battery pack I was able to run for around 20 minutes off a charge.

That may have been the case, but ever since my Milwaukee addiction started back in September 2015 (not that long ago, but still a solid 2+ years), I can only recall 1 time not seeing a parts diagram with a newly-released tool...I think it may have been the mid torque, I don't remember exactly. I don't know why, but I always look for them haha. And I'm always impressed that they're posted up so quickly (and conversely the one outlier that I can't remember).

But yeah, any tool-specific accessory is easily found in the tool's parts diagram.

Thought I looked for M12 Fuel ratchets last week and they were not there.

My M18 blower took a dump over the weekend, and it took out a 9.0 and 5.0 battery with it. I was using it to blow some light and fluffy snow off the deck. The blower was working great, had probably been using it about 10 minutes or so when it just stopped working.

I assumed the battery died, so I popped in a freshly charged one. I pulled the trigger and it only made a small sound, but I immediately smelled a small amount of smoke (not visible). I removed the battery right away and hit the button, and it flashed red. The 9.0 battery that was in it before did the same thing.

I put them on the charger...flashing red/green error on both batteries. Blower and 9.0 battery would be under warranty, not sure about the 5.0 battery. I'm not positive, but it may have sucked in a small amount of snow into the intake.

Anyone have experience with getting warranty work done at a local service center?

Those step bits are awesome.. made in USA too I believe.

I'm debating over buying a few more Milwaukee items I really DONT need, or buying the exhaust I need for a truck I DONT drive.. I think I'm leaning towards the truck for this one. I have more than enough red ****..

The larger, individually packaged step bit is like $39 or $49 alone.. what's the part number for that drill bit set on the left?

My much praised 2728 leaf blower took a dump on Christmas day. I was cleaning out the shed, it was pretty cold but it wasn't running for very long. It turned off, and I assumed the battery was dead. Put in a fresh battery, it worked for 30 seconds, then sounded like there was a stick in the fan blade for about 2 seconds, then it quit again. The fresh 9.0 battery flashed 1 bar when I pushed the button, and it wouldn't turn on any other M18 tools. I put the battery in the charger, it immediately showed full charge, and started functioning again. At least that problem fixed itself.

Now when I pull the trigger with a functioning battery, I see smoke being generated inside, but no movement. I took the blower into the service center (less than 5 min out of my way on my way home from work) and the guy said they were just going to replace it, they didn't fix them. They didn't have any in stock, I'll get a new one next week.

Anybody else used theirs in freezing temperatures? I can't believe that's an issue.

I received a phone call this morning saying my new blower was ready for pickup. I stopped by the service center on the way home from work, they filled out some paperwork and handed me a blower. Not a new one, though. You can see wear where it sits as you set it down as well as marks from batteries sliding in and out.

A few new toys
I drill mostly metal doing fab work, I'm curious how those bits hold up for drilling steel. I've been eyeballing them but they seem too well priced to be good for steel. I figure they mostly market that stuff towards contractors and tradesmen.

See my post 11995 and resolution post 12076 below. Also look at 12001.
It seems like the blower may not like really cold temperatures

So where's those new smaller M12 drill and driver? Weren't they supposed to be out in December? Apologies if it's been mentioned, I don't follow every page in this thread.
