Damn, that's cool. 1,300 in-lbs vs 1,400 on the Fuel 3/8.

Is it as simple as buying the anvil and whatever nose parts and switch? Or is it more involved?

Looking at the parts lists (https://documents.milwaukeetool.com/54-26-2550.pdf & https://documents.milwaukeetool.com/54-26-2490.pdf)

I think you replace #11 and maybe?? just drill out the nose cap to size??? I don't think there is any other parts? EDIT: looks like the shafts/collars are the same diameter and then neck down to what they need to be, maybe no drilling needed.

Maybe some kind of bushing or retainer custom made to keep the anvil from sliding forward to the nose cap? EDIT: Actually, maybe #9 is the only bushing needed b/c it seems the flanges of the #11 anvils are the same thickness.

3/8 anvil is $15ish https://www.ereplacementparts.com/3834-square-anvil-p-1753615.html

.

Yes, I wanna hear about that thing...

In hindsight I may have let my excitement get the better of me and I may have overpaid. I did send a message to the seller asking him about the modifications. He said he did it himself, and just swapped in the 3/8" anvil (I'm not sure which part number). He did have to drill out the housing so that it would fit.

If I'm feeling brave...I may break into it, take some pictures and try to figure out what all he did. I will keep you guys updated.

Holy smokes...$275?! That's a huge chunk of change!

Milwaukee only makes a few different anvils. Probably wouldn't be too difficult to find out which one it is if you pop the gen 2 apart.

The only thing that I don't like about how the seller did the mod is the hole in the front...looks huge...looks like the impacting mechanism will collect a bunch of b/s in no time.

Yep...but the way I look at it...I took one for the team. Maybe I'll make one or two of my own, sell them on Fleabay and recoup some of that cost.

Was reading the replies - and was hoping Ryan bought it, so I could tell em to remember who found that next time he wants to suspend my account..

If the swap is that simple, you can probably bet on a factory version coming soon.

Anyway - possible reward for anyone that figure out how to convert the m12 staple gun from T50 to T25 so I can warrant buying one on my company credit card. I mean, I'm starting to think I can buy a refrigerator and still not have anyone say something to me, but I do have a conscience....

In other news - My boss has 2 cars starting in NASCAR this season - think he said the Daytona 500 is this weekend if anyone follows that.. they are the newest team in NASCAR.

1) is this your boss the company, or your boss the individual?

2) does "the newest team in NASCAR" have a web site?

Technically- "the owner's of my company". It's a small but growing company.. It's two brothers and their friend. The CEO (Mike) I see / talk to everyday. His brother (Matt) isn't in the office much these days, but I see him occasionally. Can tell you this much - they are normal everyday people, live in normal houses, etc.. honestly just good people. I guess it's something they've just dreamed of doing, and are fortunate enough to be able to do now.

Here - http://www.starcomracing.com/
There's not much there.. they only did the last 2 races last season just to learn and help set the car up.. I think they just changed bodies and got better chassis's for this season. I know nothing about NACSAR.. after my interview when they hired me, it was - "do you drink?" No.. "do you like NASCAR?", not really... "well maybe you won't fit in here so well after all"... lol.

Facebook page is probably better

If your going to race, putting an Earnhardt in your car is a great start.

Does Milwaukee have any plans for a FUEL version multitool/oscillating in either M18 or M12?
I hope so. I've held off buying the drywall cut out tool as well as the oscillating multi tool for this reason. As soon as I buy the non fuel they'll release the fuel version.

They must have just got him.. few months ago they only had one car and one driver.. think the qualifying race was today cause all those guys are gone for the weekend.

Car / Cars are completely different from how it look 2 months ago too.. there's a smacked up hood and a door skin hanging in our warehouse. I might actually watch the race..

Boss was explaining to me how all these big teams make alot of their money.. it's not even from racing. They lease out ANYTHING you could need.. engines.. pit crews.. anything..

I am SERIOUSLY itching to buy one of those Ryobi promo impact wrench kits at hd for $99, for work, just to give it to the warehouse guy.

I think that's about what I paid for mine some time ago on an ACME promo.

In the right applications its a decent little tool especially for driving screws and small ASSEMBLY chores with nuts and bolts...wont really break much loose.

It's too bad you can't lock the head

Honestly they really need to make a impacting ratchet!

I already invented the M18 space heater, Jobsite Fan+Heat Gun.

Next idea M18 Flame Thrower, Fuel or Shop Blower + Transfer Pump.

So how about some thoughts on M12 RedLithium XC vs RedLithium Compact batteries? I know the Ah's are different, but are the XC's worth it? My local HD hasn't budged on XC prices in quite some time, not even sale/promo/etc, so I haven't popped for any. XC's are not in Compact form but I've never used my brushed Gen1 impact or drill in a situation where space is so tight that probably only my old Compact batteries I have would fit.

A lot depends on WHICH tool your using but short answer ya XC are worth it IMO.

Hackzalls definitely need it and the Fuel drill benefits well too even it just letting the tool stay upright easier. Vac really needs one too.

Overall most impacts don't need more than a 2.0 though a compact 3.0 would be good too. I have got by with 1.5 for along time in impacts and even my radio and even small BT speaker though longer is always better with the music :D

I did get an 3.0 XC with my grease gun but a 2.0 compact works fine for me and my greasing needs. The 2364 Rover light has also been ok with compacts for the most part but obviously XC will go way longer. The rest of the M12 lights are all really good with compacts.

I have several 4.0XC as free offers in the past and there are offers out there right now with a tool kit purchase too.

I am amazed at the run time of my 2891 speaker with an M12 4.0XC

I got like 14 hrs :bounce:

Love to have 6.0

Oh and I never really had an issue with M12 XC being too big or a hindrance to clearance. Not like M18 series

I kind of feel like the only reasonable way to get more batteries is buy them as part of a tool kit. They are silly expensive otherwise it seems...

Cant remember if its official, but some tools run stronger with an XC, surely the Fuels. Swear my M12 vac is stronger with XC 6.0 than any other battery.

CL is your best friend for new batteries. I get $35 for XC 3.0, $45 for XC 4.0, $55 for XC 6.0

There are 6 diff M12 batteries, compact 1.5ah (no number on case), compact 2.0&3.0, XC 3.0 (no number on case) and XC 4.0&6.0.

Amazon, or ebay.. tons of people parting out kits - and then there's these guys that get 100 batteries at a shot from Milwaukee and they wind up online for half retail. I've tried to find out how/where these guys manage to do it, but nobody is talkin.

Is there actually something different about the XD batteries, or is that just Milwaukee's branding for the higher amp hour batteries?

The xc batteries "essentially" are the same batteries as any others, just with extended runtimes. However, using the bigger packs will result in a slightly more powerful tool.. as an example - if I throw a 9.0 in my compact blower and just gun the trigger, the blower will immediately stall and shut down. I have to pull the trigger in slowly to allow it to build speed, where if I use a 5.0 instead the blower will operate normally. Impacts will also display more torque as a result of a larger battery.

Funny you mention that about your compact blower with a 9.0 battery. I've noticed this too. I never have any issues with the 5.0 but have noticed intermittent start issues with 9.0.

Man I just missed what would have been an awesome deal on Offerup today. Guy had listed a 9.0 for $50 and a 5.0 for $30. Both were brand new in retail packaging. Had to wonder where they came from though, probably fell off a truck somewhere too.

Honestly they really need to make a impacting ratchet!

I was watching a review online on the m12 vs m18, and the guy said it was 600 vs 675 inch pounds between the models. I didn't verify this on the Milwaukee site but that's not a big difference in my eyes to warrant a much bigger tool.

But yea - impacting ratchet would be great.. first company to make a good cordless will gain a lot of followers.

I bought one before Christmas just to have it and I have the Milwaukee M18 Fuel compact 1/2 inpact wrench and the mid-torque one as well. $99 for the Ryobi with a 4Ah battery, charger and case is a smoking deal.
