Where's the dang Milwaukee cordless SNOWBLOWER :D

I just got wacked with 30+ of snow yesterday :eek2:

I would love to have one for the small snowfalls where I don't want to break out the big gas powered blower...and it would be something my wife could handle. She is too intimidated by the gas blower.

Even though it would mean investing in another battery system, I'm seriously considering the Ego snowblower, and the multi-head system for the string trimmer, edger, pole saw and hedge trimmer. My city lot is small enough that cordless is the way to go instead of messing with 2-stroke gas (that I only use 1-1.5 gallons of per year) and carburetors.

I am so trying to get a friend of mine to invest in some type of Cordless Outdoor Equipment mostly a walk behind mower especially a snow blower.

She has the most unbelievable hard time trying to start a gasoline mower nor is it good for her to be shoveling snow.

Snow Joe line of equipment does suitable for her needs.

Haha who I am to talk my equipment is all gasoline powered still...I really think someday I will get a cordless chainsaw and line trimmer

2401-22 kit with LED light and bit set.

https://www.tooltopia.com/milwaukee-2482-22.aspx

Not a half bad deal with free shipping @ Tooltopia. There was also no sales tax for me either

The 2401-22 kit alone, 2 batteries/charger. zippered case is reg $99 most places, the bare tool lists for $74.00

The LED light is $39.99 reg price

HD website list the bit set as the current 48-32-1551

best price on that is $17.99 @ CPO

the dewalt 9.0ah battery uses 20700 cells. so at least one battery is 'better' and its flex volt

how is is better? yes it has a higher capacity & longer runtime, but that's about it. The con of the extra weight supersedes any other benefit for me. The extra potential power comes from have 3 sets of batteries in parallel, rather than 2. Similar to Milwaukee's 9ah vs 3/4/5/6 ah form factor.

If you really wanted to talk about better, look at Bosch Core batteries.

Re: The Milwaukee addiction thread! 😊

I don't think any one brand will ever have the lead in every category. I'm sure they put their R&D toward whatever they think will be best for their market.

A Milwaukee cordless framing nailer and compressor would both be nice, but I don't see the appeal in the others. I guess a table saw would make sense to go along with their miter saws, if you really needed portability.

Agree, the framer is IMO one of their bigger misses. The table saw probably makes sense now that they've (thankfully) started with some woodworking tools.

I want a cordless 3 point PTO driven one for my John Deere diesel tractor :spit:

And to tell the truth I actually have a brand new never used Ariens with 24" cut sitting in my garage right now. It's been there for 2 years. It actually belongs to friend of mine who tried to give it her son who refused it. He blew a gasket and said he was not going to use it and would only shovel. I hope he's having fun this storm

I had picked it up with my trailer delivered it and brought it here afterwards been here ever since Need to sell it for her I guess.

But its funny though how I don't ever use it either

I was really thinking of firing it up. Has electric start too :p

The snow is as deep as my waist out the back door to my greenhouse and garden shed :wtf:

There's someone on my drive to work that has one these monster 45" units with the dually wheels :D

i had a one, [something] Pride brand? used it on a ~20HP kubota. kept breaking shear pins. very disappointing. would work with light fluffy snow, but if it had any heft at all, it would work for a few minutes and then snap the pin and wind down. of course, the pin was caked with snow in an inaccessible position.

I don't own anything landpride too expensive worse than Milwaukee :D

I hear the Canuk brands are decent snowblowers but I dunno. I would have to look around. Get some advice from the boys over on the tractor board. Gosh I never go much there anymore.

My 3pt rototiller is BushHog brand tough as nails has a slip clutch no shear pins. I would assume slip clutches can be used on snowblowers too

Haha off topic on tools and equipment my boss buys stuff just because he gets a "deal" on it. Half the time we either don't need it or its not the choice for our application. Like when he bought that brute of 450 diesel dump truck. Boss how we gonna fill it loader wont reach that high...Oh will just get bigger tractor...oh now that doesn't fit in the barn...oh we can put it in a greenhouse oh you will just have make a bigger door oh ok Boss we will just get the gas line moved and all the electrical conduit feeding the fans before cut out all the end wall and raise the headers and make oversized doors that will hit the fans when they swing open

We have reverse tine tiller makes a nice seed bed but don't work well at all with any of the gear tractors all the ground speeds are too high even on the lowest setting and ends up working like box blade instead.

They would be cool for a small snowfall. Same here, the wife is a little intimidated and confused by gas equipment. I've been looking at switching our string trimmer and blower from gas to Milwaukee M18 since I'm already invested there. Really no need for a gas trimmer here anyway.

I definitely wouldn't be without a gas snowblower at least as a backup. With the snow we got in NY last week, my 17hp Wheelhorse with the front-mounted blower had trouble breaking through by the road where the plow heaped it up.

Completely off topic but at my local Home Depot in their clearance section they had the Ryobi impact wrench w/ 4 ah battery, charger and case for $80 instead of the $99 holiday price. I thought for a second about buying it and with the $5 off $50 coupon getting it down to $75. Still contemplating going back but I already have one plus my Milwaukee impact wrenches......

That happens when you run it at too low rpm to clear the auger chute, it cakes up with clumpy snow and blows the shear pin.
Run high rpm and low speed at the drive wheels. Once you visualize how its failing and dial in the correct control you can blow wet slush.

They're 4 stroke.
I don't think there are any 2 stage blowers using 2 stroke.

Yea - waiting to see how my m18 string trimmer does this spring.

I’ve heard good things about my friend’s Dewalt, I’m hoping the M18 will be just as good. I have 3 acres to mow but only about 20-30 minutes of trimming to do each week, and it’d be nice not to have to screw around with mixed gas and more engines if I didn’t have to.

experimentation proved that not to be true. high speed throwing with slow speed moving caused the time between failures to increase slightly, but not dramatically enough to fix the issue. in the end, i think it was just simple stress. if you stopped it and restarted it a lot it sheared off when starting more often. leaving it running at an idle speed helps somewhat, but it still tended to fail when you speeded it up, or pushed it, even gently, into the heavy snow. leaving it running was a safety nightmare, BTW, it was always spitting out something. even convinced the manufacturer to send us some new shear pins, on the hope that the dealer was selling is the wrong ones. same issues.

tightened the thrower into position. loosened it a bit. changed the shute angle to cut down on drag. all sorts of things. no idea was too silly, since we needed it to work.

maybe they drilled the hole too big when they made it. maybe a new vendor made the pins slightly too narrow. dont know. eventually sold it.

in the end, getting a commercial grade thrower for the front of a Cat skid loader is what really addressed the issue. all hydraulic. have not had an issue since.

It's such a breeze greasing my tractor/loader using the M12 grease gun.

It makes me a happy camper lol! ;)

I also grabbed the M12 Rover to light up underneath while greasing my front steering.

And I said it before...this thing makes an absolute great underhood light...its soo handy and BRIGHT!

So after THAT had the M12 Rover light hanging on an "S" hook from my hood's integrated locking bar (the hook one I gleaned from a rubber strap in moments decision) when I needed to tear into my battery setup today after I came back inside the garage from cleaning more of this mess of snow we recently got.

See I noticed thru the front grill screen the battery had shifted and my custom modified battery bracket vibrated loose after a small piece of welded channel that holds the battery off the plate kind of disintegrated after almost 20 years. Gosh the original hold down bracket didn't even last half of that I think. (but just as an FYI I got 14 years out that first battery too, was an OEM JD.)

I was lucky all the parts were laying in there inside the compartment, the J hook and even the nut was still on top of the battery wedged between the cell covers. Though that was pretty unusable rust had wrecked it good and I wasn't about to tap it over (though I could of) and instead was very fortunate I had not just one but two 10mm nuts on my workbench I had set aside from another project. :)

Now what got me a laugh is when I got I picked my tools, I set the Rover down on a workbench atop an open case of impact sockets. I heard a weird sound and then realized a bunch of the sockets got grabbed that magnet on the bottom of the Rover..

That's one powerful magnet

Too funny

Got mine over the summer last year and it did great. Just used it for the first time this year and I was reminded on how awesome it is. The power/runtime/ergo are A+. FWIW the heavier line (can't remember the size) makes a huge difference in apparent power while having an unnoticeable effect on runtime.

A couple weeks ago I noticed one of my 9.0s acting "different"...felt a little warmer than normal (using the Fuel blower maxed out) and the runtime noticeably lower (only 14 mins on the blower). It strangely charged up faster than any of my other 9.0s, from literally dead to green in 1.5 hours on a non-rapid charger, and the final voltage read 20.31v whereas all of my other batteries finish at 20.6+v. Strange, but I dismissed it. "I take care of my batteries and this is my newest one (11/2016 date code)".

Fast forward to yesterday and after 11 mins of Fuel blowin' I was at 1 bar. WTH. Decided to pop the cover off and scope things out. I checked voltage on every cell and lo and behold, the 3rd one down the line in all 3 rows was showing lower voltage. The others were all exactly 3.65v each, and these stragglers were merely 3.3v each. Bad cells! I'm kind of amazed, I mean I use the things but not day-in, day-out 100% charge/deplete/repeat. I guess it happens.

This theoretically shouldn't be a problem warranty-wise, but we'll see. I really hope it's a painless swap. I recently warrantied one of my locking c-clamps and it was far from smooth/painless.

When the washing machine gets a Thomas the train sock stuck in the drain pump with it full of water. Went down to HD and picked up the transfer pump to empty out the washing machine, been trying to find a reason to buy it for the last 6 months. It worked awesome!

How big is your dog that you need an 80 Gallon trough???? We use 100 gallon tanks for some of our smaller groups of cattle.

I got the kit with 4ah battery and charger for $160 shipped using the 25% off eBay coupon recently. That is the best for the under hood light I had seen. Be patient.

Good to hear, I think I'm going to pick one up. I've had enough of my crappy 2cycle gas trimmer. The head just stripped out on mine and it's the last straw!

Has anyone tried that m18 pump with fuel? Yes - I know it's not made for that, but I'm thinking a few odd jobs here or there might be fine so long as you flushed it out after.. I'm just wondering..
