IDK, I started another thread about it a few weeks ago. Had to remove my wife's tire to get it fixed. Relatively new Milwaukee Fuel 1/2 impact wouldn't budge the lug nuts. Then tried my Snap-on MG725, no luck with that either. Used a Snap-on 1/2 breaker bar and some good old fashioned persuasion to "break" them loose. The Milwaukee handled it from there.

BTW, I reinstalled them with the Milwaukee and checked with a Snap-on Torque wrench. All good. Wouldn't take them off though.
I'd send it back, I've had mine about 2 years and it gets abused daily without issues

Maybe, but seems to be working fine otherwise. Again a Snap-on MG725 wouldn't break them loose either. Thinking it was just a fluke.

Sometimes the 'nut busting toque' just don't cut it....I don't know what new cordless 1/2" impact to get. I just want an honest 500-600ftlbs in a compact design. There is so much hype by fan club boys and their choice of cordless, its hard to believe everything that's reviewed.

Unless you are the only one who ever changed a tire on that car, the likely explaination is that someone overtorqued the wheel nuts the last time. There are still some people out there that feel that all wheel nuts need a powerful impact gun cranked up to the max and rattle for a full minute. :shocking:

Agreed but that certainly doesnt mean Milwaukee is any better than Snap-on. LOL.

I have found that even some bolts will be so locked up, that even powerful air ratchets are no match. At this point its not the fault of the impact ratchets.

I think people are forgetting or underestimating one of the most important steps on a stuck bolt is using penetrating oil. Its half the battle. Kroil is one such oil.

Alot of us at work use the 1/2" for semi tires, torqued to 550ftlbs, I don't see how that's possible to not remove passenger vehicle wheels 🤷*@#$♂️

I don’t get it either????

Which Fuel 1/2" impact do you have? There are multiple models rated between 150 ft/lbs, 210 ft/lbs, 450 ft/lbs and 700 ft/lbs.

If the impact and battery were left in the garage and temperatures were sub freezing, it would be significantly down on power. I move my batteries inside in the winter here in NH. Hope to heat the garage this year.

2763 and 2754 (3/8)
The 2763 will easily drive those lags you mentioned, the 3/4" impact would require adapters that would just lose torque. If you really don't think the 2763 will do it, get the 2767, and buy a couple 5.0 or even better 9.0 batteries. I've tested my 2767 against my mg725 and my air cat and it was stronger than both. I am a snap on junkie but I'm sorry there is no world in where the snap on cordless has more torque. The only cordless snappy stuff worth anything is their 14.4v stuff.

Also yes there are times where bolts won't come loose with any impact, I've run across a good bit that my 2763 wouldn't budge, but I have yet to meet a bolt that my 2767 wouldn't break free. Last week I took off some flange bolts that were torqued to 800 some odd ft/lb that hadn't been touched in 2 years(a water flange). I think they were 1 1/2" head, and they were rusted and covered in filth. I really didn't think it would and it didn't even break a sweat. I can't say enough about it.

Definitely a possibility as I've said it seems to be working fine except for that one time. I'm not bashing Milwaukee I love their stuff and continue adding to my collection. Didn't work on my wife's car that's a fact.

My Last Red purchase was a couple of Packout Parts Boxes. Just ordered the drywall gun just to get my red fix on

For those who have the larger packout boxes, are they just as ~sealed~ or heavy plastic like the Dewalts. I literally must have like 8 of the Dewalt in XL, another 8 in L and a couple of mediums...

Jumping into home ownership very soon (closing at the end of April), which could only mean one thing...more tools!

What are the odds that Milwaukee releases a cordless mower? The EGO+ ones get great reviews, but it would be nice to just use/expand my existing Milwaukee battery collection.

I almost pulled the trigger on the M18 Fuel blower at HD because it was marked down to $100 for the bare tool...until I realized it was the gen 1. Might have to hold out until there is a good blower/string trimmer deal.

Must be a fluke....sorry for your bad luck. I have removed the lugs on my diesel truck with the 3/8 compact fuel. When I use the 2763 it only impacts once or twice. I would think even the mid torque would be overkill for your lags but I haven't used a ton of them. The ones I have went fine with a C3 impact driver. Maybe I missed something but I am not familiar with corded impacts that could even compete with non fuel m18.

They'll have another buy string trimmer, get blower free at some point.. that's how most of us got ours.. not a big difference in the gen1 to gen2 blowers I believe

Got news for ya - home ownership ain't all it's cracked up to be.. the novelty will wear off.. lol. But congrats

Yeah, but I'm talking about a bunch of them. Milwaukee cordless hammer drill doesn't work believe me I tried. I recently bought a 1/2" Fuel impact and was disappointed it wouldn't remove the lug nuts on my wife's car (in fairness neither would a Snap-on MG725). Had to persuade them the old school way, lol.

My impact driver removes lugs.. is it the high torque impact ur referring to, or the small 1/2 compact?? EVERY M18 impact should remove lugs.. if they don't, something is wrong. Either the took is no good, on the lowest setting, or the last person to install the wheels hammered the living **** out of the lugs with a pneumatic gun.

the milwaukee 2763 or 2767 will break studs and strip lugs!!!

i had a mid torque, need to buy another one. these high torques are too powerful.

impact sockets make a difference too

I think I'm officially "in" the Ryobi platform now.. think I'mma keep on of the 1/2 Ryobi impacts I bought to leave in my car or work van.

Dude...get an adapter! Lol....used my Ryobi glue gun the other day with M18 batteries.....butter!

(I refurbed a Gerstner chest to use for my gunsmithing box, and removed the grimey felt and glued in new cork)

I think I'mma just throw it in my work van or car in case of a flat. We'll see... Oh - good, now I can buy a glue gun... Lol

What - Ryobi has an 18v ratchet?

Yeah any cordless impact I've even seen should remove properly torqued lug nuts without an issue. The lowest I've seen has been 200ft/lbs on older or compact models, and my one ton dually was torqued to 155ft/lbs.

I know a lot of mechanics and tire shops that just hammer them on with a 900 lb pneumatic gun. If anyone's mechanic is doing that, go somewhere else.

In store clearance. I also saw M18 FUEL SDS rotary hammers for $196, down from $279 originally. That was two weeks ago, I might take a ride by again today and see if they dropped more. They're the longer style, looks like they'll be sticking with just the shorter models going forward.

I have always like the Ryobi impacts and the 3 speed is an improvement over the original

Speaking of those dually wheels KC was it you I remember someone that used a mid torque that didn't remove some lugs? :headscrat

I know my compact B couldn't handle well at all my old rusty Dodge with 16 in rims

The bolts holding the bed down on my truck..needed the big gun.. truck is a 95 and appeared to be the first time the bed was ever removed so it gets to use that as an excuse, combined with needing extensions to reach.
