Yeah! The big radio charges batteries when plugged in so being able to run some 110v stuff off battery power would be awesome. The 9ah could run a modem for days.

Generally, routers have a DC input, so you'd be better off getting a DC-DC converter to knock down the voltage. And of course, everybody with a USB socket (like the 49-24-2371) has a 5 volt 2.1 amp power supply. I've got some old webcams I'm using at work, and the wall warts are failing, fortunately they are 5 volts. I cut the cable off a broken usb keyboard, found my 5 volts, connected it to the wire I cut off the dead wall wart. Presto, camera working again, $0 spent. I'm using AC powered socket, but I could run the cameras with a battery powered USB socket too.

What's the difference in impact drivers and drills, as in burshless / brushed? Like with DeWalt, which I have now, There is a regular impact driver and the brushless driver.

I'm going to switch to Milwaukee because of the mechanic tools available. And sell off all my Dewalt stuff.

Which one is this: https://amzn.to/2qDTF0n ?

Can someone explain Milwaukee lineup to me like I'm 5? Thanks.

I'd rather buy just one "kit". Then bare tool everything else once I have a charger and 2 batteries. That's what I have now with DeWalt and it works great.

Hopefully they knock off flexvolt but in a way that lets you use 18 volt batteries at reduced performance.

In the link is the basic m18 brushed impact driver. It has a variable speed trigger and an operating range of 0-2750 rpm with a max rating 1500 inch lbs of torque. It is also what they call a CT kit because it comes with the smaller compact batteries and the they are 1.5AH type. There are also 2.0 compact batteries but they are usually reserved for Fuel tool kits

As 2 battery compact kits go the price is reasonable there is also a single battery kit with worklight available it's been a special promo for a while now.

https://www.cpooutlets.com/milwauke...erm=4582008550901832&utm_content=All Products

Tools are available most often as compact kit configurations -22CT or as larger battery XC kits -22

Single battery kits vary are usual just promo specials and may be limited

One can also buy just the bare tool.

There is a variation of that same driver that has 2 speed ranges and selector switch to change between them. I own that model and had bought it as compact kit 1.5ah batteries a couple years ago

(was $89 at HD for the whole deal on a deal of the day :lol_hitti )

https://www.cpooutlets.com/milwauke...pact-driver-kit/miln2657-22ct,default,pd.html

Now in the middle here there is a "brusheless" compact tool, the 2750 is model
The motor is brushless but the specs are very similar to the brushed version

Lastly the "FUEL" branded tools are the most powerful, have the largest brusheless motors and have added features like electronic mode selection over multiple ranges earlier Gen 1 had 3 modes, newer Gen 2 has 4 now, a special sheet metal screw feature is the new mode. There is also the programmable "ONE KEY" versions which thru an APP

Fuels are most often much more money but they also have many good deals with them too.

Then there are the M12 tools also a basic brushed impact driver, a Fuel Gen 2 modes and new Fuel gen 2 with 4 modes.

Hope it helps

Any more questions just ask away :D

Would be nice to see a pancake compressor like Dewalt has. Like the one Home Depot has for the deal of the day.

I'd love to see something like the Dewalt portable power station/charger.

An M18 compressor like the Ridgid would be great since I already have a bunch of pneumatic nailers and don't want to buy cordless versions. An M18 chainsaw would also be awesome, but I don't consider either of those to be a "breakthrough."

Ordered! (The $199 mid torque 1/2" one with the 2.0 battery.

Will get it shipped to home by Tuesday. Still enough time to try it and return and get the bigger battery kit on sale if it doesn't work out.

That one has the "One Key". Is that a useful feature?

Will be my first cordless impact wrench. Kind of excited!

Bill

Delivered late this evening.

Tried it out on the pop up camper.

My impressions:

Well balanced with that battery. Not too heavy and just right size.

Just took a short while to charge up from 1 to 4 lights.

3 speeds for forward and 3 in reverse, but different maximum foot pound ratings for forward and reverse of course.

Lowest speed wouldn't budge after just a couple of seconds. Medium speed whirled them off fast.

Lowest speed is good for putting back on then torque to spec.

There's a button on the front of the base to change speeds with three lights. Button isn't user friendly to me yet (Haven't read the manual).

Friction ring version is essential.

Forward and reverse are selected like on drills with a switch that slides from side to side. It allows one handed operation but you can accidentally hit it to neutral with your grip around it.

Went down one light from use but charged back up in a minute or two. 2.0 is adequate for me for now.

There might be a cover available for it. Need to check.

All in all a great tool, especially for larger nuts like lug nuts and front end work and the like. Great on the jobsite for lag bolts and such.

I love it and told Julie. She gave me the stink eye!

Further info.

Took the mid torque 1/2" impact out to remove lugnuts on an M416 military trailer that's been sitting outside in the weather since probably 1978.

Low power with too big of a socket didn't budge them in a couple of seconds, but mid power with the right size impact socket zipped them right off.

I think the low power setting is really for removing smaller fasteners and putting larger fasteners back on.

Looks like my days of jumping up and down on a breaker bar are over. Now my wife can use them for hitting me!

Tolda ya it was awesome!

And they do have a boot available for it like you mentioned in an earlier post. About $30 depending on where you get it.

Dunno if this is relevant to "what's coming" - but there is barely any m18 batteries in my local hd... but my gut wants to say their "breakthrough" is a chainsaw and pole saw... we shall see..

If I used mode 3, I'm afraid they would spin off so fast, they could reach low earth orbit!

Finally got a real packout organizee with cups, they are identical to the old organizer cups.

I dont understand why people think the $199 mid torque HD deal is so great, $215 after tax, tool worth $125-140, 2.0 battery $25, charger $20, case, $20...

I don't really follow HD Red Deals but how often are the discounts on these tool packs which we are seeing - which is a hot deal IMO....

I was aware of the HD - get the bare tool deals that I frequented like 2 years ago.
My most recent buy was the Rocket Led package which was a good *deal* as well.

Anyhow, I'm finding the HD deals pretty dang interesting to watch but I took a hiatus from Big Red buys. Hit a plateau after buying their KO kit. Had pretty much every tool in their lineup and then some ..

I wonder if they will ever offer an m12 screwdriver, like the old 7.2 volt dewalt ones. I miss that tool.

I went on a Milwaukee bender this week and my wallet has a hangover.

I hope so. The Panasonic one is supposedly badass, but I want no other platforms...

It seems to be popular like its a great deal, unless you really want the case its not a deal, even then barely. I paid $250 for my mid torque kit with two 5.0s from one of our fav retailers last year.

I think these cheaper smaller kits are a new direction Milwaukee is going instead of every kit being $300-400+ with 5.0s.

The fact is NOBODY here is piece buying the kit

$189 is bare tool list price

Besides you just quoted $190 -$205 anyhow

Just ordered M18 Fuel drywall gun / impact combo with two 2.0 batteries and charger for $199. Seems like a pretty good deal, the drywall gun alone is about $150.

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwauk...-_-rv_thankyou_rr-_-300618548-_-300618548-_-N

I wish I had waited. Just paid $107 for the Surge, tool only, on eBay and I've been looking for a couple more 2.0 batteries. Probably could have sold the drywall gun for ~$100 and broke even with two extra batteries and a charger.

$107 was still a good deal though. I had in in my cart at Acme and couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger on it at 15% off $149.

Mohawk Dave -

So many marketing posts about Burshless...I was using Brushless with Panasonic at least 6-7 Years even more Milwaukee Came out with Brushless. Maybe even a year longer....

Since moving to Big Red, have not looked back. And it was a super premium back then for Panasonic tools.

It seems to be good marketing the like single battery drill or impact kits with worklight. The price is right for especially for non professional use/ home consumers.

Generally the High Torque -22 kit list price is way too much but IMO is meant to compete with the other automotive industry offerings. None are cheap :D

I would have bought it but like you said the case is an issue. If the mid torque would fit in the case with the rubber boot then I’d be in for a “to go” kit. But because it won’t the case is a big waste to me.

Yeah I am a big case fan and the fact nithing fits with boots really stinks. Might use my M18 heat gun to help reform the case to fix this...
