Scratch that. CPO dropped the price to $149 so I picked up the M12 Stubby 3/8 with the protective boot for $162

Hey all, I'm about to order the m12 inflator.
Does anyone have any good (or bad) experiences with this?
Also, would I be better off with one 6.0 battery or two 4.0?
This will be used for helper air bag inflation and occasional truck/dirtbike/atv tire inflation.

Also kctyphoon, congrats on the new-old addition! :shocking::thumbup:

I like it a lot, havent put on a quick fill adapter like some. Any XC is fine, I have a 6.0 on mine but all my XCs are 6.0. Its had the same battery on it for 3-4 months, I use it quite a bit and theres still 2 bars left maybe. Topped off maybe 15 tires and filled 2 completely.

Dang that's pretty good!
I'll go with one 6, thanks!

I'm having a hard time with this ebay coupon in trying to justify buying extra tool sets just for the batteries. I don't NEED an m12 drill/driver combo, but damn I want one!
If only my pre-fuel m18 drill would die, then I could upgrade. But 7 years running strong.

Just about finished rounding out my transition from Makita 12 volt to Milwaukee M12 and the power differential is definitely more than I anticipated. I briefly considered going Bosch but Milwaukee's range is pretty much unmatched.

Now all I have left to buy is that new fangled 3/8 stubby and my heart will be content (until I want a soldering iron or a sawzall or a thermal imager)

but i have a question for those of you who already have the subby and also the xc batteries; how thick is the head compared to the base of the xc battery? I would need to lay the tool flat in a drawer with the rest of my M12 stuff and would like to know if the head is thicker than the battery as I don't have much clearance.

Video For anyone interested:

The only Milwaukee tool I can see from my recliner is my Milwaukee powered Nebulizer... OH and it's spare 6.0 battery sitting in the charger in the corner... uhm... wait... I can also see my go bag with a few M12 tools sticking out... oh hell... nevermind… yea... I'm an official addict.

ok, lets play a new game:

  • in how many *locations* do you store milwaukee power tools.

  • how many specific tools do you have duplicated at all locations?

i have four locations. the M12 drill is the only one currently in all four locations. next week, there will also be a M12 "screwdriver" in all four locations.

House, shop, and RV. Although in fairness I have a lot of duplicates in the shop so I don't have to walk across it to get a drill or impact. I just ordered the 3/8 stubby and 4 batteries today, so yes this is getting crazy. My wife has 3 of the 18V vacuums, so she is a carrier of the virus as well.

I think you're better off with 2 batteries than 1. I use a 4.0 on my inflator and it lasts a long time. If you have 2 batteries, one can be fully charged, ready to go for when the other is discharged.

Good call. I made the best choice: one 4.0 and one 6.0

For my new 3/8" stubby impact I ordered a 6.0 and a 2.0. I could've purchased two of the 6.0, but I wanted to have one small battery for tight spaces where the 6.0 might make to tool too bulky. Now that I've opened the drawer to M12 tools I'm sure I'll end up with some more M12 tools and batteries.

LMAO, me too. Watching TV I see M12 Fuel v2 hammer drill, hex impact, v1 hex screw driver, M12 mag light, M12 speaker, M12 lantern, M4 screw driver, Milwaukee head lamp, M12 flash light, M12 stick light, M18/12 rapid station, bits, sockets, tape measures, back pack and tech bag all full of red. 11 packout pieces in a stack and one old style organizer.

BTW my wife still complains about the wall kobalt tool cabinet I mounted in TV room.

I will add... I am not allowed to leave tools all about my wifes house (notice how I worded that). I must organize open projects with some sort of tote to store tools.

Do any of you have to do that?... or can you just explode your house with piles of tools?

LOL. All my stuff I described is in the TV room nicely organized because of 2 young kids we have a lack of space and closets with all their ****. Plus in this giant closet (24' x 6') in the inlaw apt my wife has a gift stash which looks like she stole a Toys R Us 18 wheeler load. My basement is only about 18'x12' because the 4+ car garage is basement level.

Only thing around else where is when ups/fedex drops a pile at the front door. My kids love watching me open packages and unbox tools. LMAO

Just wanted to let anyone know that didn't already, if you have the old V18 tools, like i do, and have been dead in the water since V18 phase out, you can now get very nice V18 to M18 converters on Ebay. I just ordered one, and it arrived and works very nice. Converts you over to the M18 batteries so you don't have to chuck your old tools.

Mine are spread out a bit. Rocket light in the shed, trimmer/blower/chainsaw in the back of the garage, hackzall/grinder/circ saw/M12 impact in front part of garage, search light in porch, M18 impact and drill in basement, inflator/impact wrench/radio in the car, not sure where the fan is at moment, I think I left it up in the attic.

Of course she will, it doesn't match the color scheme :bounce:

Generic picture but... I had to grab a drain adapter at HD today... and walked out with this under my arm. Wife was waiting in the car...

She asked... "Is that why we had to drive 9 miles out of our way to get that drain adapter?"

I said... well... I wanted a little saw.

Well I have a Husky SS rolling tool chest as a kitchen island. And then there is the Milwaukee mobile packout in the den for "household tools". Some wives are lenient.

I have one of those, it's awesome. Nice and light, it will cut 2x material. Takes 2 seconds to deploy. Mine stalls out unless I use an XC battery, though.

I have 4 x 6.0AH batteries... will donate one to the saw.

Thanks for letting me know that detail. I still have NOT put the blade on. Considering getting one with more teeth.

I have 16 and 24 tooth diablo blades. I usually just run the 24. The cuts are a little cleaner and it isn't that much slower. And since it's mainly a saw I pull out to just make a couple of cuts I don't really care about making the cut a tiny bit faster.

Any saw, M12 or M18, should have an XC battery in it. The draw on a single series of cells in the compacts batteries is too much to provide optimal power.

I'm thinking of getting the 12V oscillating multi tool. What sort blades fit it? For bonus points which brand corded tools share the same blade attachment as the Milwaukee 12v?

(Basically want Milwaukee 12v battery to cut near power outlets I'd like to isolate and use the same blades on a more powerful corded model for larger jobs. Not wedded to Milwaukee for corded tools).

I have not seen this posted yet but for anyone on the fence about buying the new Gen 3 hammer drill and impact I have some good news. Milwaukee has a new holiday bundle coming out that is going to include the new gen 3 hammer drill, impact, 1 5.0AH, 1 6.0AH high output battery, and M18 fuel hackzall all stored in a 22 in packout case. Price is said to be $399. Can’t beat it!!!

Most multi-tool blades are universal. I have not seen a proprietary one yet, although I suspect they exist.

Edit: I just discovered this morning that Black and Decker, DeWalt and Porter Cable seem to use a different mounting system for their blades than the rest of the companies that make Multi-tools.

Bonus points for tools that share blade attachment:
  • Milwaukee
  • AEG
  • Bosch
  • Ozito
  • Skil
  • Makita
  • Craftsman
  • Fein
  • Ridgid
  • Ryobi

Anyone know if the new M18 6.0Ah "High Output" model is more powerful than a 9.0Ah "High Demand"? T̶h̶e̶y̶ ̶b̶o̶t̶h̶ ̶u̶s̶e̶ ̶1̶8̶6̶5̶0̶ ̶b̶a̶t̶t̶e̶r̶i̶e̶s̶ ̶I̶ ̶b̶e̶l̶i̶e̶v̶e̶. (edit: the 6.0Ah HO XC appears to be wider than the non-HO XC, so it is probably using 21700 as well.) Based on the descriptions, it looks like the new 6.0Ah HO XC is indeed more powerful despite being lower capacity. They claiming 50% more power and runtime and 50% cooler than the 6.0Ah XC model.

They're also claiming the new "High Output" models are designed increase the power output in cold temps under 0F. Not sure I will buy a 9.0Ah now, especially since I have a Vexilar K-drill. Unless all the features of the "High Demand" model(s) are found in "High Output" models as well and this is all just marketing?

Of course you post this when I just purchased a 9.0 battery in the recent ebay sale for $76, oh well. I wanted the 9.0 for my gen 2 blower and the angle grinder. The 6.0 are showing up at $200 per 2 pack on eBay currently, I don’t see any singles.

Same here. I found one for $72 after the coupon, but I happened to choose a seller who was a scammer and ebay cancelled my order. Now I'm just gonna wait until the HO models come down in price I guess. The 6.0Ah HO is already on HD's website, $199.00 for two or $149 for one.

Fingers crossed for a Milwaukee M18 36v snowblower for NPS19. The fact they're listing cold weather performance in the very first descriptions of the product is a huge hint.

P.S. ebay has a $5 off $5 coupon going on right now for most accounts. Code is PERKMEUP. Very tempted to try this battery dock and somehow make it step down to 12v.

When it comes to eBay and brand new items I’ve had good luck with the larger established vendors that sell dozens or hundreds of an item rather than the newer vendor with low feedback for a couple bucks less. When I see an item significantly cheaper than market rate from a new seller with zero feedback I run away.
