For those of you that are saying Knipex are not as good a Vise Grips because they do not lock..... I disagree. Now if someone made pliers that have a design such as the Cobras, but as you pull harder, the pliers keep ratcheting/locking down; that would be badass.

thats what i was trying to say.

i use vicegrips a ton, but when i need to latch onto something and expect it to NOT SLIP, i use the KNIPEX every time. they bite and lock harder than a vicegrip could ever hope too....

good deal getting it out. :rocker:

Do you know if the Channellock pliers that are sort of a Knipex rip off (grip lock Gl12 ) will grip as well ?

i cant say for sure. i have fondled the pliers you are talking about, and the design seems good. the reason the knipex bite so hard is the design of the teeth, the angles and the hardness of the teeth are just right. they dig in like a bunch of chisels.

i use channellocks for all sorts of stuff, but in my experience, nothing they make bites and digs in like that.

on that note, why not just get the knipex that are proven performers, instead of looking for a stand in? is it price?

For matt:
My steering wheel isn't really named Nancy.

I've noticed you've been spouting off a lot of totally inaccurate vehicle related 'help' lately. If you're really trying to help someone, it's pretty irresponsible of you to give them the wrong information if you have no direct experience with the problem at hand. If you are trolling, I'd say this was a pretty feeble attempt.

If you welded a nut onto it why didn't you just use a wrench on the nut? No reason to use the pliers at that point..

I'm just curious. I'm not going to buy either yet just getting everyone's real world ( and much appreciated ) experience.
Thanks.

A hammer and chisel would have knocked that out in 1 or 2 taps. You really should have done that before hammering all of that other **** on there.
