Just got my last (maybe not) Nepros order. I rearranged some stuff and took pictures of everything. Some may be duplicate pictures or nearly so of stuff I have posted previously. I am still amazed by the quality of the Nepros tools.

I really only wanted the toolbox, but it is more expensive to order the toolbox alone than to get the master tool set with the toolbox off the nepros.net site. The prices are a hell of a bargain if you look at what the stuff goes for in Japan.

Yeah, I know. I was considering doing the same thing, I only really want the box.

I'm worried how much the shipping will be from Nepros.net once the new site goes live, ARRRRRRGGHHHHH decisions,decisions... :headscrat

I bought the little tool cart that is much like a Hazet Assistent. It is a KTC item so I paid over $300 for shipping and it is a little lighter than the toolbox for the Nepros master set. The Nepros master set in Japan goes for between $4000 and $5000 before tax.

Hi, I'm sorry if this statement/question seems ignorant, but I checked out Nepros' pricing, seems at the same levels of Snap On. SK and Proto seems to be reasonable pricing on amazon and ebay, is Nepros that much better. Some of the wrenches and such seems really high quality, but a complete set of wrench is about $300 to $400. SK and Proto is about half as much if you look around.

So for the Nepros and experienced tool users, please educate me. So is Nepros at the same level as Stahlwille and Snap On? And the KTC is the equivalent level as blackhawk series for the Nepros brand?

I'm trying to understand why some say these tools are a bargain...sorry I never had one in my hand or used one and trying to grasp why pay so much more for nice tools without local support? Thanks the input.

Nepros tools fit, finish and overall quality is the best I have ever seen personally. About 85% of my tools are Snapon and I think Snapon makes excellent quality tools also, but they are not as nice as the Nepros tools. How did you come up with $300 to $400 for a wrench set? I bought almost every wrench set they had and none were $300. The highest priced wrench set on nepros.net is $242.40 for a 12 piece combination wrench set that goes from 5.5mm to 24mm. A similar Snapon set would cost about twice as much. Nepros tools have a lifetime warranty and they have a warranty station in Southern California, but I seriously doubt that I will ever have to warranty any of my tools. In 35 years I have had warranty work done on less than 10 of my tools. Nepros tools are not for everybody just as Snapon is not for everyone. You need to make a personal judgement on what tool is right for you and what price range. I think Nepros tools bought on nepros.net are a great bargain. I wouldn't be very surprised if the prices and shipping charges go up substantially in the future. I don't know why they discount their tools so much for U.S. customers, but I am definitely going to take advantage while I can.

KTC is the parent company, and Nepros is their high end line.

I wouldn't compare KTC tools to Blackhawk. I would compare KTC to Industrial Snap On. KTC have very tight tolerances, very little play in their sockets and wrenches.

Use google to search a Nepros part # and convert the Yen price into US $$$, then compare that price to the Nepros.net price, on average a %50 discount.

Take for example the Master Set pictured above, street price in Japan is around $1000 for the box alone, without shipping. The whole set is $3500, without shipping.

http://store.shopping.yahoo.co.jp/kys/skx5206.html
http://item.rakuten.co.jp/ktc/nepros-ntx770/

Nepros.net offers the set for $1400, and only $30 for shipping a 100+ pound item 2-3 day UPS Air Mail from Japan. The only way you can get Snap On for a similar price is if your are in trade school and take advantage of the student pricing, and these tools are in the same class as Snap On...

If you're looking for an alternative to Snap On or any other PRO tools, these are worth it. Try ordering a wrench and socket in a commonly used size, and watch it appear on your doorstep in 2-3 days. Word of warning, check by email to see if they have what you want in stock, before actually ordering.

Thanks JK47 and ricleh.

Ricleh, I understand now if their finish is better than Snap On that they cost that much. And to answer your question. The wrench set that nepros give is incomplete. A full wrench set is:
$242.40 NMS2-055, 07, 08, 10, 12, 13, 14, 17, 19, 21, 22, 24

Missing- order separate
9 - 14.95
11 - 14.95
15 - 17.95
16 - 18.95
18 - 21.95
20 - 24.95
23 - 32.95

total $389.05

I never understood why they sell incomplete tool sets, not nepros, but all manufacturers. When I buy a set, I want a complete set, it's worth the extra money for the times you need the right size and you have it. So a metric and fractional set will run about $800 total.

Some people never understood why a person pays $4k for a mountain bike, until you are in the sport or use it often you won't know. So I guess it's the same for stahlwille, snap on, and now nepros too.

I'm going to assume proto, sk, wright and such are good enough for the home wrencher and it will last the owner's lifetime generally? So besides an absolutely beautiful finish, proto, sk, and etc... will perform just as well? I'm not a pro mechanic, so I'm asking to see if there's really value in paying a premium...and the same goes with snap on. I have their tool box and love their customer support. Don't know if the tools are worth it unless you are in the profession given the price premium. Sorry if I'm causing a debate...I just want to know if it's worth it for the home wrench to buy it...just trying to see the value.

The tools are not going to do anything more than any other tool. They might fit better and feel more comfortable (definitely a personal preference type of thing), but a wrench loosens or tightens a nut or bolt. A Toyota Yaris and a Bugatti Veyron are both cars. They both get you from point A to point B. Is one worth more than the other. Only you can answer that for yourself. If you're looking for a reasonably priced tool that will get the job done then don't look at the truck brands or Hazet or Stahwille or Nepros. I am speaking only of new tools now. I bought 95% of my Snapon tools used or on Ebay for much less than the retail price. If you want good tools for a reasonable price I recommend that you purchase used tools from a brand that you like. I suggest you purchase a Nepros combination wrench (it won't cost much for one wrench). Check it out and see if you think it is worth the money.

As far as the missing sizes in the set go - Nepros manufactures primarily for the Japanese market. Those sizes you listed are rarely or never used. I work primarily on Toyota vehicles and 99% of the fasteners used by Toyota are 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, 17mm or 19mm. There are some other sizes too, but you might never come across them unless you are removing the crankshaft pulley bolt or axle nuts (which you wouldn't be doing with a wrench anyway). There is a reason some sizes are omitted from most sets. Get the wrench if you need it, but don't assume you need all the sizes just because someone makes them. What size wrenches you need really depends on what type of items you plan to be working on.

They are part of the master set. You can also order a set of 6 without the stubbies that is under the Tool Sets-Screwdrivers. They are really nice screwdrivers.

I have Proto BIG DAWGS in 3/8" and 1/2", nice ratchets but can't compare to the Nepros. I have a 1/4" SK palm control ratchet and metric socket set on a rail. Very nice action once it's taken apart and the stock white waxy grease is cleaned away, and lubed with something else. There is a thread somewhere on here about cleaning it up. Picked it up on "The Bay" for $40 shipped, Sears has it for $60 plus shipping. Another fella on "The Bay" has the 1/4" and 3/8" SK palm control sets for $90 shipped I believe. I haven't used it much, but I do like it a lot so far.

That's a nice looking ratchet. I personally don't like round head ratchets, but that is just a personal preference thing. I know a lot of people on this board like the round head fine tooth ratchets.

I'm not a huge round head fan either, but the Nepros palm ratchet probably shares the same hardware, and I love my palm ratchet

Hey RicLeh, what is the part no on those 30-60 degree open end wrenches at the bottom left of your pic, I dont see them in the catalog or on the website. did they come with the master set?

I thought only Snapon made those

Seems there are a lot of new items that are not on the website.

So tempting. I am trying to not buy more Nepros but you guys make it so hard! On the order side it took about a month to receive the items. I assume they were made to order so-to-speak.

Indeed, I can't hold myself either...I think I'll have to order something again.
I'm curious: did Eri tell you what particular item was not in stock?

Ricleh,

:shocking: You went all out!

 I'm flat out envious of your purchases.

Madmark,

Here's the part #'s:

ricleh - What is the beam profile like on the nepros wrenches compared to Snap-On? Thicker? Thinner? More Rounded?

A comparison pic would be fantastic.

Eri sent me a list of all the out of stock items still listed on the nepros.net site after I ordered several items that were out of stock. I don't have it with me but when I get home today I will provide the list. There was also a list of the out of stock items in the catalog she sent me.

If you don't mind me asking, where did you order them from?

If you want something not listed on the nepros.net site then you need to contact Eri by email and ask about availability and get a price quotation. It is a bit of a roundabout method, but well worth the effort IMO. You also should inquire about the payment method. You will not get the excellent prices and shipping discounts available on nepros.net, but there is still a significant discount.

I'm not seeing any 30-60 angle wrenches in SAE.

Only metric sizes for the angle wrenches - these are newly released. Nepros does make some SAE sizes in certain tools, but the selection is extremely limited. Perhaps at a later date they will offer the angle wrenches in SAE sizes.

Although, I have been switching all of my tools over to an all Facom line up, I was intrigued by Nepros and all of the posts here. I went ahead and placed a small order last week. Shipping was lightning fast, it only took 2 days from Japan.

I love the packaging and just overall attention to detail. The ratchet looks so good that it is almost a shame to dirty it up. I got the 3/8" stubby, the 6 piece deep socket set and the T-handle. As discussed before, the socket rack is very nice. They are just well made tools and very reasonably priced. It looks like my Facom tools will have some company.
