Just wondering how everyones nepros tools are holding up to use? I have not had a chance to use mine since i'm deployed, but I did make a small order that will be waiting for me when I get home.

All good except for a single socket I damaged/dented when it slipped off a bolt (tightening off center) . I will post a photo at some point. Wrenches are fantastic.

Mine are all good as well.

I find the chrome to be quite durable to abrasion. I've used my 1/4" sockets on an air ratchet and more than a couple times, I free-spun the socket without the socket fully engaged on the fastener, just marring the head of the fastener as it spun. The chrome is not mirror finished anymore, but there's no sign of chipping. Sockets have been dropped on a concrete floor on a couple occasions, but no cosmetic damage at all.

I once threw in two 3/8" sockets into the solvent tank to remove built-up oil sludge, and I accidentally left it in there for more than 30mins (busy cleaning parts). When I came back later, the rubber ring had stretched out. I thought it was useless and was going to throw it out, but something happened and I just left it. Came back later, all dried up, and it shrunk back to its original size. It's still in use on the socket it came off from. :)

Really ricleh, that would be great, but I already placed an order! I've already read all the threads on the Nepros tools and I'm just impressed...Mostly thanks to your reviews ricleh, but if I ever get the chance I'll drop by (I really want to get a feel for that KTC easy-buggy)

Frank, If you do happen to go to Kyoto, I'm sure many of us KTC/Nepros fans would really appreciate it if you could take as many photos as you could of their facility/museum and post them here. :)

1ST post woooo

Anyhow, A thought popped in my head about how much are all the tools in the master set, individually? So I spent an hour or so making sure I had my list right and so forth;

Master set : 1633$
Piece by piece :$1,232.40

Both prices are pre-tax/pre-shipping
Downside is you dont get the box, and some trays (due to not every piece came in a set but for the master set they throw in some trays for giggles)

I'm wondering how much was the master set pre-price hikes?
Ive read all 25 pages :) and I know a few guys on here picked up the master set, so what did you gents pay for it?

I'm thinkin about buying the craftsmen twin tool-box and taking off the logos and putting on the nepros logo's ;)

Started to collect my set today! should have a beginners setup here soon.

Btw, would anyone be interested in selling there Nepro tools? just throwing it out there.. I'm pretty much lookin for any and all! ;)

I bought 2 master sets as well as most of the other tools that were not contained in the master sets. I also bought quite a few KTC tools. Most of those tools are kept in the 2 toolboxes, but there is also quite a bit in the KTC tool buggy along with other Japanese tool brands. Some is also in a Snapon box since there just wasn't room in the Nepros boxes and the KTC tool buggy for everything.

Bummer, well if your ever willing to part, or anyone for that fact - feel free to let me know!

Also talked to the rep with nepros today, I guess they don't have a "nepros" catalog (in English?) But have a KTC only catalog in English, and a combined KTC/nepros catalog in Japanese, but some of the nepros in the catalog they don't have due to being discontinued in April.

Just a update.

Well, fumbling through the 25 pages, I did see a pic of a Nepros catalog in English, which is kinda what confused me. Maybe they have discontinued the English version of the catalog.. I did specifically ask her Nepros in English, but she said she only has the KTC in english. Eh. Either way should be here in a few days :)

Hi Snuff. First, welcome to the Nepros thread. :)
Do you happen to know which items are going to be discontinued come April??

Sadly I do not, the rep said to email her before placing your order to make sure they will have it in stock (IE: not discontinuing in April)

I couldn't imagine it would be anything common, more likely a few sets rarely sold and have a low net profit. Could be wrong tho, I'll see if i can find out here soon after i get my catalog :)

Well for me it went like this...the day I first posted on this thread. I went along and placed my order on the Nepros site (got the NTX770 master set). After a few days I got an email from KTC that this set was discontinued and that the new master set was the NTX8701. I email them back stating that I was not aware because that set was still up on their US website...long story short. In the end and after several emails, I did get the NTX770, but I will have to wait until late February because they need time to produce and deliver a new NTX770 set for me. Oh well I guess I'll have to wait...!

Soo for the new masterset.. ive found it as the NTX8701 - Comes with a different box (4 drawer) with top area to store tools. Almost looks ... plastic-ey..

Still 70 piece set, but not sure if its the same exact tools.
ntx8701.jpg

Wonder the nepros.net price would be...

Edit:Did a comparison pricing between the NTX8701 and the NTX770 on the same site
NTX770:291300 Japanese yen = 3750.4875 US dollars
NTX8701:254100 Japanese yen = 3271.5375 US dollars

Thats not going to be the price on nepros.net (im assuming) just a japanese retailing website showing that the NEW masterset is cheaper than the OLD masterset, in japan at least.

So, gone are the Waterloo chests then. I checked a couple other Japanese retailers myself and they don't have the old master sets in stock any longer.

IMO, I'd rather have the new chest, simply because the EKW and EKR series tool chests/cabinets are 100% made in Japan.

Check out their product ads for the EKW/EKR series (pdf)
I love design of the drawer pulls.

This NTX759 (60-peice set) has been available in Japan for almost two years now. For an additional $200 or so, you can get your name laser etched onto the tools.
I'm sure that service isn't only limited to this EKR series tool sets:

The ultimate KTC fan should import the latest version of the EKX cabinet and put the entire Nepros lineup in there and still have plenty of space for KTC items. :D
The newest verion has some updated features and a new colour scheme. The drawers, like the latest kitchen drawers, are soft closing at the last few inches.
A nice looking, unique box: http://ktc.jp/catalog/html/ekx-118.php

A 220-peice KTC master set with the EKX cabinet is available as well (SK8038EX): http://ktc.jp/catalog/html/sk8038ex.php

Gotta add a picture as there hasn't been one in this thread for a while. :D

Around 600$ prior to shipping is a bit steep.

On the up side tho, I got my catalog today, Sadly I dont think its going to show any changes as its from mid year 2010, a year and half old :( and its just the KTC - Still nice tho, really good quality for a free catalog haha, Got some readin to do tonight ;D

No, I don't think at the same price because when I sent a quote to KTC regarding the NTX8701 master set. They told me it was $4100 + $788 for shipping!! I would have actually gone with with the NTX8701 because like superautobacs said, "...the EKW and EKR series tool chests/cabinets are 100% made in Japan." The reason I didn't was because when I told the KTC rep. if the new set came with the same tool as the former set she said yes, but doing my research I found that's not true. I found the difference was in the screwdrivers. The NTX8701 provides the screwdriver set NTD 106 and the NTX770 provides the screwdriver set NTD 306.

Thats the price if you order it directly from KTC themselves, Theirs a retailer at
Nepros.net - They sell the mastersets and are going to be updating their current masterset with the new one, if you send them an email they will give you a price on the NEW masterset and it should be ~1400$ with 60$ for shipping?

Just got an email back from the Nepros/KTC mothership, and the new sets are (as mentioned above): NTX8701BK [black], NTX8701 [silver], and NTBX8701R [red]. It was confirmed that the contents are _same_, they just changed the chest from from 5 drawers 4 drawers. The Price of the old NTX770 on the website shows $1,633.00. But you knew all that.

What I just learned however, is that the price of the new sets will be $1,533.00 ($100 discount, as they call it).

Getting harder and harder to restrain my order clicking finger...

Picked up this today from the post office... $455 shipped insured to me. It took 6 days from the time Frank at Frankstools.com shipped it from Japan, plus the 5 days it took KTC to send it to Frank. All in all, 11 days from time of payment to get to my doorstep.

It's a great cart too :bounce:
