It resembles the pipe threading tool described here: https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=416760.
tym, thank you! It could give some clues.
So far we've found some more detailes concerning this set. It belonged to a Soviet Airforce Diving Bombers Squadron Commander. He, in his turn, obtained it from an American aircrew at the Aspern airbase (Wien), shortly after the WW II, somewhat around 1946. At least, so remember and say the Commander's relatives. Later, the set was applied for a maintenance of a 1935 Ford Model 48 DeLuxe Tudor Sedan, that was bought in Wien, around the year 1948.
But, all this detailes bring us not an inch closer to the answer who the manufacturer (-s) could be...

Hello everyone, Im Steve from West Virginia. I am not an expert in anything, although I do have many years experience in machining and cnc. I came to this ratchet thread first because it really Sparks my interest, I have been collecting antique hand tools and vintage tools for about 12 years. Recently I have had no one to share or converse with about these things, I’m glad to find this place with so many folks of like interest.

You just hit all the right chords for why we're all here, Steve! :) Welcome.

This thread is a good example of a thread dedicated to a particular type of tool. Other popular "Type" threads include the "Show your DOE's" thread, where guys share photos, stories, and info about their Double Open End wrenches, finds, and collections, the "Show your DBE's" thread, where we do the same for Double Box Ends. There's also a thread dedicated to everything 1/4-inch drive, for example.

Another popular category is threads dedicated to each manufacturer (e.g, Bonney, Williams, New Britain, Snap-on, Plomb, Herbrand, etc).

You will see Mystery Tool/What's it? threads (self-explanatory), Research/ Survey threads (Do you happen to have any Nye pipe wrenches?!), and every once in awhile some fun and games.

If you look at the first, second and third page you will find examples of just about all these types of threads.

A few words of advice. The site moves fast. A topic you are participating in will move to page 2 and then page 3 in a day or two. So you will want to subscribe to your favorite threads by using the Thread Tools at the top of each thread. Then, when you click on User CP (way up at the top on the left, white letters in a black bar across the top), it will list all your subscribed threads that have new posts, so you don't have to go looking for them in the pages.

Here is my 3/8 drive Side Winder. It has a speed wrench built it to it by turning the top handle. It is pretty rugged.

Anyone know what this was used for? The guy I bought it from told me it was for a old car kit. You insert the black wrench into the ratchet and use it as a ratcheting lug nut wrench. I have no idea what car it could have been used with though.

I think my 04 Astrovan has a scissor jack with a ratchet handle like that.

Here’s an unusual one I picked up at an estate sale last weekend.
If this can fill a hole in anybody’s collection let me know. (Listed in classifieds)

Williams “Superratchet” NM-51. Quarter inch drive...4 3/8 inches long

Can any of you experts fill me in on approximate date of manufacture? thanks

If it is plain steel, it’s probably WW2 vintage. If it’s chrome plated it’s likely made right after the war. Here is a set I’m working on on the left and the NOS set from Lugz on the right.

42jeep I love those Williams sets! Man they’re hard to come by. I don’t have one yet, but there is one out there waiting for me I can feel it. I do have the knurled handle pear head 1/4” ratchet that’s has “superatchet ” on the handle. But i don’t think it it as sold as the forged handle type you have there, it probably came in a red or orange box.

I found this nice New Britain flex head 3/8” drive ratchet last weekend. I think I’m going to add this one to my regular toolbox.

I have that ratchet in many different brand configurations. I used to have it in my user box, then another, then another, etc. The problem with those is the damn head gets floppy really easy.....snagged some Snappy indexables and retired those NBs.

Yeah, I can see that. This one is still not floppy but I don’t think that it’s been used very much. My use of the flex head feature will probably be limited anyway.

I had a few mid 80s pontiacs and a early 90s GMC truck all equipped with the same sort of ratchet wrench... for use with a screw jack.
Good design.

Just picked up this Mac M1R 1/4 rat.
Did Mac make these or were they farmed out?
This is pretty heavy for a standard length 1/4 rat.
