Another fairly rare, unbranded SK 4070 I snagged this weekend.
Very nice. I had one of those as well. It lives with another member now, but I saved a pic.

Ahem, cough, cough.
You take way nicer pictures than that new owner could too!![]()
Yes, I thought it was a bit ironic that you posted right before me!Ahem, cough, cough.
I'm sure you're taking great care of it! It's all about the lighting... Thanks for the compliment! You take way nicer pictures than that new owner could too!![]()

Nice trio. Do the holes in the handle look original, or did someone use a drill?Found first one about a year ago and then the front 2 within a week of each other.
They appear to be drilled.Nice trio. Do the holes in the handle look original, or did someone use a drill?
According to AA (for what that's worth) the S-K marked Chrome Alloy was sold as Brazil tools. They do have a Brazil flyer. Here are my examples marked Chrome Alloy.
-Don
I believe that he was just referring to sockets but why else would other obviously S-K tools be simply marked Chrome Alloy?
-Don
Edit - After rechecking he apparently has a prewar catalog with a full line of tools and shows an early set with a sliding Tee and extensions. I would like to see that catalog.

I believe they are marked chrome alloy from understanding. But tiger tools are mixed in there as well. I have an sk chrome socket set that came in a tiger tools case. Not sure if it was orginal but the sockets fit perfect. If unmarked tooks were sold as “Brazil,” what were the tools marked “Brazil” sold as?
Herbrand speeder I am super jealous. I love the green grips.I always see those Craftsman speed ratchets that go for about a $100 on ebay or people in the G sale thread finding them. But I have never seen one of these. have yall? twertsy you have 11 of these laying around ?
I wish! I haven't been lucky enough to come a cross one of those yet. Nice find!I always see those Craftsman speed ratchets that go for about a $100 on ebay or people in the G sale thread finding them. But I have never seen one of these. have yall? twertsy you have 11 of these laying around ?
Looks Bogish to me.....I don't believe Wilde made any ratchets. From what I've been able to tell, they sourced their ratchets from Bog and/or Truth. Here is a bit of an unusual ratchet that I found at a garage sale in Nevada yesterday. It is a 3/8" drive Wilde ratchet. Has anybody else run across one of these?

RagI have the two variations of that, different handle shapes. Also, the all metal speed wrench of theirs in the typical Snap On (crank) style.
Believe me, I try to buy everything for less than astronomical prices. The strange thing about those, like Craftsman and Snap On versions, I have never seen them at ANY sale I've been to. Same goes for flex head speeders as I mentioned before. I'm talking 15 years here. One of these days I will find one of the above somewhere for 50 cents! I feel it coming soon.
D42 nice pick up. Those are difficult to find. There is a 1/2" out there too.
Have the same issue here with OTC. Live not too far from owatonna and still nothing here. These tool makers must not like to sell in their own backyards.I'm not the only one. I live in Ohio, where they were originally made and I've never seen anything made by Herbrand in the wild. I own one piece, a 1/2 ratchet adapter I got cheap off ebay. I've seen examples of just about every other tool co from this state, just no Herbrand. *shrug*
Never seen a speedmaster made by wright all the one I have/seen had been Penens Corp similar.A decent weekend for ratchets. I had several follow me home.
1/2" drive:
SK Frankenstein (my first)
Williams S-51
3/8" drive:
American Forge QR
SpeedMaster (looks Wright made)
SK Wayne
Williams 9-50B female drive ratchet
1/4" drive:
Action
SnapOn (wartime) used to be 9/32" drive. The drive plug has been ground down to make it 1/4" and USAAF is engraved in electric pencil. Pretty cool.
