Very nice snag, Dave.
First off YOU ****. That is a long pattern BE ratchet and they are very hard to come by. Being 1/4 drive it is even more difficult. They came with a drive plug that is inserted into the female end of the ratchet. I am super jealous. Let me know if you want to part with it.[emoji2]

Those are mine Jim, commonly referred to as Blackhawk "Baldies" due to the resemblance to a bald head.
The mossburg is in good shape for it's age. Does it have a step down plug in it?

I picked one up yesterday. They are hard to find for me. I only own 2. They are from the superkrome generation and yes the nickname Frankenstein. What a wealth of information. An SK in a diamond Made USA push button 3/8 ratchet followed me home today. I'll try to post a picture. Searches here turned up no info. Ebay listing of a similar calls it a Frankenstein ratchet. There appears to be AU under the snap ring
Yes it isOn the Mossberg, the female square is 11/16” drive.

Yes....the bl presumably stands for black......I was on the phone with a Proto rep and he did not know what the P stood for and didn't have anybinfonon the ratchet because I am looking for a rebuild kit.....the only ones they seem to have are for the 80+ Plomb ratchets and roundheads.....I would like a part number ir I guess just buy a used ratchet....it seems like a nice fine tooth ratchet....but I dont know....maybe there is a reason they do not make it anymoreIt says 5449PBL on the gear cover.
Best bet is to buy another on eBay. They usually go for a fair price. I think I picked mine up for $20 shipped to my door.Yes....the bl presumably stands for black......I was on the phone with a Proto rep and he did not know what the P stood for and didn't have anybinfonon the ratchet because I am looking for a rebuild kit.....the only ones they seem to have are for the 80+ Plomb ratchets and roundheads.....I would like a part number ir I guess just buy a used ratchet....it seems like a nice fine tooth ratchet....but I dont know....maybe there is a reason they do not make it anymore

Here’s another Mossberg.
Apco Mossberg no. 911 open gear.
1/2” drive. 10 tooth count
The gear and drive stud aren’t one forged piece. The drive stud runs through the gear, and turns independently a little bit. It’s not too pretty but here it is.

Nice find, especially in NZ!
Looks familiar.
Indeed it does!
Unusual for NZ an possibly for that very reason I now own it. Kind of rough and ready compared to most any other 1/2"ratchet I own, but kind of quaint and quirky!
Rather stumpy as well and made me think that perhaps back in the day 1/2"socket sets were the 3/8"sets of today?
