I like insects and can watch them do their thing all day long.
I also have parts of my property where I do not mow and let the weeds grow wild
so the birds and the bees have something to play with.

These are ideal for mason bees, which are prolific pollenators and nest in pre-made holes (but don't make honey or create hives like honeybees).

I have two kids that are allergic to wasps (we don't know about bees), but we do what we can to keep their houses away from ours. I will admit, that I do like watching them though.

You have to repaint the cart first. Your current color scheme will clash with Miller Blue.

You know. I only paid $300 for it and I have to say, it's not a bad welder at all. I had a little issue with a DOA unit when I first bought it (like many who review it) and had to return it, but since then it works pretty well. I'm getting into some structural frame and suspension welding on a car I'm building, so I'm needing something with bigger balls. Once I get the Miller, this one will be up for sale cheap.

Well actually the car I'm building will most likely be blue so the odds of that being my color theme is quite high.You have to repaint the cart first. Your current color scheme will clash with Miller Blue.

Guys, I love this thread! I always enjoy reading cool stuff others do with broken stuff or unwanted items. I hate seeing things go to waste, especially if there can be another purpose for them. Landfills are full and projects like these just make my day!

This thread is great! I'll Play. Repurposed utility poles salvaged after an ice storm, steel trusses left over from another project, steel r panels salvaged from a neighbor's barn with minor hail damage (still have enough for the walls...eventually), and about 90% salvaged lumber.

Found this 9' slab of wood one week, the sawmill the next week and made this bar for our barn.

Nothing like some of the amazing stuff here, but here is one...
My Neighbor put one of those "Glider/Eliptical" exercise machines out next to their trash can. All 3" tube.
Snagged it and been using it to make random stuff...
Bottom part, which was kinda rusty, but ok, became the top half loop of a rolling metal storage cart.

I have an old water softener that I can’t seem to get rid of. Any ideas what I could do with it? Funky or useful I would like to see the creative possibilities. It is as a working unit so the power head/clock might have some possibilities.

I have a couple of salt bins that I use to hold metal scraps until I take them in for recycling.
I'd think that the resin tank would be useful if someone was making a replica of the Ghostbusters ambulance.

I never went over 100 PSI because that was all a junk ice box can would putout.
I had no concern about the lawyer inspired labels on the tank when some research reveled that fiberglass tanks do not explode, they thin out and leak between the fibers.
It filled a lot of bike tires before HF came to town.

I had a neighbor who was an RN at the public health trust hospital we transported most of our patients to, when I worked fire-rescue. She worked in the blood bank. This time of year, I always made it a point to donate, because they would decorate the office/lab in the spirit of Halloween. She made a great witch.
She had a beautiful Karman-Ghia that she drove to work. I hadn't seen her around, and asked next-time I donated, "where is she?"
"I'm sorry to tell you, she was killed in a traffic accident," I was told. She was in her Karman-Ghia, and was crushed when it rolled. Maybe look into fabricating a roll cage for that car. Look at those skinny roof supports. Especially when it's running a re-power. A 1200 cc VW single-Solex carb engine made 19 RWHP, where the 145 cu in 6 cyl Corvair running a Carter YF single carb and the factory turbocharger was rated at 150 HP. I had one, a 1963 Monza 4 speed convertible.

They are most definitely not safe cars at all... pretty much the same as most old cars.
